Common Core State Standards Specials

This one hour webinar is a follow-up training for HS Common Core State Standards Mathematics teachers. During this one hour webinar teachers will briefly discuss all trainings that have been offered for HS teachers over the past year by the MDE, discuss instructional strategies for particular cross-cutting and plus standards, how to evaluate student work samples for the Mathematical Practices, and reading the PARCC assessment/evidence tables to guide instruction.

This video will provide an overview of the PARCC assessment administration guidance and online resources. The information discussed will provide schools and districts with more information about the design of the PARCC assessments in English language arts/literacy and mathematics, as well as the number of testing sessions and the approximate time it will take students to complete the assessments.

This video walks through a number of online resources related to CCSS implementation: the MDE website, the C&I Listserv, access to training materials, and the MDE PD Calendar.

The Office of Curriculum and Instruction presents this training as a more in depth look at the 3-5 CCSS for ELA. This presentation provides educators with a sample lesson plan for upper elementary grades, updates to the Model Content Framework, and a PARCC update.

The training will provide an update (September 2012) on the Common Core State Standards and the PARCC assessment. PARCC prototype items will be examined, along with updated PARCC Model Content Frameworks for Mathematics and English Language Arts.
