The PARCC Math Evidence Tables ("Test Specifications" or "Assessment Blueprints) can be difficult to interpret for some teachers. This 45-minute training introduces a new resource document (Cheat Sheet) that teachers may use to assist them in interpreting the Evidence Statement Key, Text, and Language as they prepare for the Grades 3-11 Math PARCC Assessments.
This 20-minute session details the latest instructional support tool from the MDE Offices of Elementary Education and Secondary Education- the CCR Mathematics Scaffolding Documents. The Scaffolding Documents for Grades K-12 were created to assist math educators with teaching the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Pedagogical support, along with pre-requisite information, conceptual skills, assessment outcomes, and the Standards for Mathematical Practice are also provided on these grade level documents.
The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) through the Office of Curriculum and Instruction hosted a webinar conference for the annual Mississippi Association of Mathematics Teachers Educators (MAMTE) Symposium held at the University of Mississippi-Oxford (Center for Math and Science Education). Attendees learned about the following topics: 1) Overview of the SREB Math Ready Course and the MDE's implementation regarding this course; 2) High priorities for pre-service math teachers; 3) Support that MAMTE could offer the MDE; 4) the possibility of the MDE offering a math specialist certification/license; and #5) recent resources being developed by the MDE to support the implementation of the CCSS for Mathematics. (Time: 47:02)
The Office of Curriculum and Instruction hosted a webinar entitled CCSS-M 113: (PART 2) Teaching Mathematics Conceptually on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 for Grades K-12 math teachers. In this 45-minute webinar, participants learned how to shift mathematics instruction from simple procedures, facts, and algorithms to helping students facilitate a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. Participants received “homework” that could be used to design professional development at the local and/or school levels.
The Office of Curriculum and Instruction hosted a 1-hour webinar for Grades K-12 math teachers entitled “Math Updates from the MDE and PARCC” on Monday, March 31, 2014. Participants received responses to questions from the field about the new Mississippi Mathematics Framework document (2014 Mississippi College and Career-Readiness Standards for Mathematics), mathematics course offerings and endorsments, accessiblity and accomondations manual, instructional support, and preparation for the PARCC math assessments.
The Office of Curriculum and Instruction hosted a webinar entitled CCSS-M 111: Teaching Mathematics Conceptually on Monday, March 17, 2014 for Grades K-12 math teachers. In this 45 minute webinar, participants learn how to shift mathematics instruction from simple procedures, facts, and algorithms to helping students facilitate a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
The Office of Curriculum and Instruction hosted a webinar entitled Introducing the MS CCSSM Framework Documents (volume 1) on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 3:45pm-4:15pm for high school teachers and administrators; curriculum coordinators; and math content specialists. Middle school teachers that teach Algebra I may also attend. This webinar discusses the new framework documents developed by the MDE for each CCSS high school math course in the Traditional Pathway (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II).
This 45-minute webinar will discuss how to read and interpret the PARCC Evidence Tables (Assessment Blueprints) and newly released sample items for CCSS-M. Participants will develop a greater understanding of these resources as they prepare classroom activities, in-class assessments and lesson plans.
This 20 minute webinar provides training to district superintendents, curriculum specialists, building level administrators, and lead math teachers in the state of MS on aligning resources and materials necessary for teaching and/or creating Common Core math lesson/unit plans. "The Complete Common Core Document" for mathematics assists districts in developing professional development activities and tasks for its teachers. State educators are divided into small regions and given critical assignments for completing and/or developing the document for all PARCC assessed grades, Grades 3-HS. Each grade level document will be available early Fall 2013 at www.mde.k12.ms.us/ccss.
This 45 minute webinar will discuss the structure and design of the CCSSM; the Modeling Conceptual Category; calculator designations; instructional support; and the PARCC Assessment Evidence Tables/Blueprints.
This one hour webinar addresses newly released details regarding the PARCC math assessment: number of items by grade, estimated testing time, assessment/testing “window”, and timeline for future guidance. Participants will also review online resources for locating exemplar CCSSM-aligned prototypes.
In this 45 minute webinar the Office of Curriculum and Instruction responds to questions from educators across the state as we transition to the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS-M). Individual standards, the PARCC Assessment, graduation requirements, the Standards for Mathematical Practice (SMPs), and future MDE trainings are addressed.
This 45 minute webinar is designed for district and school administrators (principals, assistant principals, instructional coaches, and lead teachers) as they provide Math teachers guidance on 1) reading and using the Progression Documents, 2) developing effective lesson/unit plans, 3) creating in-class assessments, and 4) conducting classroom observations for the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM).
This 30 minute webinar provides clarity around the PARCC assessment design, task types and technological platforms (calculator, reference sheet, and manipulatives) for the upcoming PARCC Math assessment. Participants will also learn how to shift instruction to meet the cognitive demands as identified in the PARCC Model Content Frameworks.
This webinar provides a brief overview of the Practices and how to evaluate student work samples for inclusion of the Practices. The presenter offers ready-to-use instructional strategies for classroom teachers, curriculum coordinators and administrators as they integrate the Practices at their schools.
The Office of Curriculum and Instruction presents “The CCSS Trilogy”. This presentation details how focus, coherence and rigor are established in classroom instruction through successful infusion of the PARCC Model Content Frameworks, the Progression Documents, and the Standards for Mathematical Practice.
