A little something for those who are yet to join university or those who have joined and have things they wish they knew before joining. University tends to be a diverse experience for us all - as we all have different goals and aspirations from what we hope we can attain from it, apart from the actual degree. These might differ from person to person, so if there are some things you wish you knew before university, drop some comments!

Episode 4 | What does it mean to slow down? (w/ Hadassah Joseph)

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 24, 2021 26:03

Taking the time to slow down within the rush of our lives is incredibly integral, especially with students with a decent amount of pressures, always being in a rush to accomplish certain things can take our enjoyment away from it. Moreover, this causes more stress and an eventual burnout that leaves us weary of the realistic beauty of doing nothing - I know I'm always anxious when I'm not doing anything and its one of the aspects of my life that requires ample amounts of assessment. Take care of yourselves, breathe, there's a time for everything.

If you'd like to know more about internships, reach out to me, and I'll try my best to address the topic with as much depth as possible.

Episode 2 | Productivity & Work From Home Struggles (w/ Neha Naveed)

Today I had a conversation over Zoom with my friend Neha, who is a student studying BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems at Middlesex University Dubai and works as an intern at a logistics company in the Middle East. We usually talk about an array of interesting topics over our calls, so I thought it would be interesting to repurpose our conversation into podcast form (with her permission, of course!). This time, the topic of productivity came up, and interestingly enough, with the realisation that many students may have been struggling with this throughout online school/university/work, we decided that this could be something that could be shared with the listeners. We genuinely hope that the candid discussion helps students understand that they are not alone and that we all are sharing this experience together, in our own unique ways. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

FreeThinkers aims to be an all encompassing student development hub, which can provide content and advice for students who are looking to expand their horizons in terms of maximising their student experience and growth. I'm Maleeha, the host of the podcast! The only reason why I would really ask you to stick around to listen to what I have to say, is because I'm keen in helping students — since I am a student myself, majoring in a BSc degree in Business Information Systems. My experience comprises being a mentee and graduate of the FinTech Hive AccelerateHer program, as well as starting out in the job space since 2017, in corporates as well startups. I hope to hear more feedback from listeners in terms of what content you would like to hear about, since I am only just starting out and will build my resources for better content in the near future.
