A Family of Missionary Servants who are passionate about making Jesus known in all of Life.
Through lent we’re looking at encounters to help us know and show the love of Jesus.
This Sunday we looked at what Temptation, and how at a very basic level it’s about loyalty. How when we choose to give into temptation we are choosing something over choosing God. We like Jesus are tempted to feed our appetites; get noticed; have everything the world can give us. We’re reminded by Jesus’ rebuff that we’re to hunger after God alone; that we are already ‘noticed’ by God which is all that really matters; and we must worship the creator, not the created things.
Contentment: Rejoice in the Lord Always (v4) Meet Anxiety with Prayer (v6) Guard your thoughts (v8) Learn contentment (v12) Trust Jesus (v13)
The last in our basics series looking at the characteristics we want to encourage here. Our identity as Family and Servants rounding off today with Missionaries.
Continuing in our short series looking at the characteristics of Limavady Methodist Church. This week: We are Servants - John 13:1-17
What does it mean to really love one another like family? Exodus 19v1-6 & 1 Peter 2v9-10... with a further look at Romans 12
Part one of a four part teaching series looking at the characteristics we want to grow in. Today we look at the general call to love one another, following will be the specifics of Family; Missionaries and Servants.
Both Elizabeth and Mary, can’t quite believe it. They have known the truth, but when the good news of God’s mercy is actually fleshed out with concrete irrefutable proof they are shell shocked, happily so, but full of wonder and wow. At its root learning to relax and be happy in the mercy of God.
Mary was troubled by the call to stand in the tradition of Old Testament Heroes. We can be challenged by her response despite her fear: ‘I am the Lord’s Servant, Let it be to me according to your word’
In the light of the recent introduction of abortion legislation to Northern Ireland; this Sunday we looked at how Christians can highlight God’s best for society with love, kindness, compassion and involvement. How we can witness the kingdom grow, like yeast in the dough. Highlighting how abortion is just one symptom of a society in need of Jesus.
What would it look like if we adopted a war-time mindset to our present-time walk with God? In today’s sermon we are challenged to “Do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus...” (3:17) and think through what life looks like when we do.
In today’s Sermon titled ‘being ready with the readies’ we look over the series’ teaching on the use of money: Our trust; Giving Cheerfully, Sacrificially and Regularly; And where the church fits in with our money priorities. With this backdrop we then are challenged to always be ready with the readies, as we look together at Luke 13v35-48
Today we looked at Gal 6v6-10, with the backdrop of Acts 2 & 4 to help us biblically prioritise where our giving goes. We also had a wide eyed look at Wesley’s determination that with increasing income what should rise is not his standard of living, but the standard of his giving.
As part of our living generously series, We are encouraged to think biblically about our relationship with money. Which aspect of biblical giving is most difficult for you: cheerful, sacrificial, regular? What does this struggle indicate about your heart and what you believe about the character of God.
