⭐️ A What Does It Mean That Jesus Is the Light of the World? | John 8:12-20Are you walking through a season of darkness—confused, fearful, or just feeling lost? In this powerful sermon, we explore Jesus' bold declaration in John 8:12: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light that leads to life.”Discover what it means for Jesus to be your light—not just a beacon of hope, but the very source of life and clarity in a world filled with chaos and confusion. We connect this truth to the grand narrative of Scripture—from Genesis to Revelation—revealing how Christ fulfills the role of divine light from creation to new creation.

This video breaks down the arguments people use to reject faith—and why they fall short. From denying the supernatural to claiming self-righteousness, we address the real reasons behind unbelief and how Jesus confronts them.

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on May 18, 2025) In the sermon today, we ask the question, “Has the devil ever been your father?” The answer we most often find in the religious world is that there was a time when the devil was indeed our father, but through the exercise of our wills...

As the light of the world, Jesus grants us true sight. Jesus reveals the Father, so that we can rightly understand who God is. Jesus exposes our sin, and thus lovingly invites us to confess and to repent of our sins. Jesus leads us out of darkness, so that we have the hope that one day all will be bright and darkness will be no more. When we encounter the light of the world, we will say: "I once was blind, but now I see."

SUMMARY “The following section of scripture (chapters 8 to 10) can be described with two words: Radical confrontation. There will be conflict that escalates between Jesus and the Jewish leaders (chapter 8), the healing of a man born blind (chapter 9), Jesus' claim to be the Good Shepherd (chapter 10), and Jesus' claim to be the Messiah and Son of God!” NIV Biblical Theological Study Bible KEY TAKEAWAYS Main Idea: Jesus is the light of the world, enabling those enslaved by sin to live in freedom. A Path Revealed (12) Those who follow Him will not walk in darkness Those who follow Him have the light of life A Revealing Response (13–20) They attempt to discredit Jesus They judge by human standards They dismiss Jesus' relationship with the Father
Send us a textGood morning! Thank you for taking a few minutes to listen. They ask Him what should be done to her. He asks the one who has no sin to cast the first stone. Slowly, all the men leave. He then explains there is no testimony against her and sends her away, telling her to “sin no more.” This opens a discussion about testimony concerning Jesus, including His own words and works, along with the prophecy and proclamations of His Father. He teaches eternal life with the Father and that unbelievers will die in their sins for the devil is their father! The men try to claim Abraham as their father, but Jesus enrages them when He says, “Before Abraham was, I am”. Things are heating up between Jesus and the Jewish leaders. He is teaching in their temple and embarrassing them with His wisdom. In the case of the adulterous women, the men's motives are faulty, and they leave in shame. But the guilty woman is given a pardon by the mercy of the Lord. Jesus has proven His glory and His right to be obeyed, and those who will not believe will die in their sins. To claim God as Father is to follow Jesus. We must understand this. To follow the world is to have the devil as our father. We belong to whomever we follow. Jesus existed before all men, is glorified as holy, and is worthy to be praised. Kind Father, we know You show mercy to those who are sorrowful for their sins. Like the adulterous woman told to sin no more, we call upon your grace to free us from our sins, and we vow to pursue holiness. We acknowledge Your Son as the Light of the world, and the One who was lifted up to save us from sin and darkness. He is eternal and He is holy, and reverence to You is shown through belief in Jesus and obeying His teachings. We commit to Him as our Guide and to You as our only Father. Thought Questions: - Beyond the fact that all witnesses left, why did Jesus send the adulterous woman away unpunished? What does that say about Him? - Jesus said you must continue in His word to be set free from sin. How are you making it a priority to continue in His word? - Can God be your Father if He is not allowed to control your life? Why must you trust and follow Jesus to have God as your Father?
