So.... you may have heard it on the news. Rentvesting. What exactly is it? How does it work? Why are people choosing to do this? Why is it such a growing 'phenomenon'? In this episode, Damian and Eshar explore all the details you want to know about rentvesting and share their own experiences as 'Rentvestors' themselves. Rentvesting, by definition, is a home-owning strategy where you rent a property to live in that's right for your lifestyle, while you own an investment property that's right for your budget. This has become increasingly popular as home prices in inner-city areas continue to rise and is seen most popular with younger investors. Saving your first 10k is a huge milestone and something that can seem very daunting. But when finally achieved, wow it feels amazing. But how do we actually start? What do we need to do?
Buy Now Pay Later Vs Credit Cards Buy Now Pay Later businesses have been on the rise over the last few years and their success has caused a lot of attention within the media, sparking a great debate on whether or not these systems should be permitted to run. Many people believe that the original ways of distributing credit, such as credit cards, are the safest and most 'ethical' ways of providing for consumers. In this episode, Damian and Cara discuss the differences between Buy Now Pay Later and Credit Cards, focusing on the positives and negatives of both systems. Whilst Damian believes that Buy Now Pay Later methods are actually not that bad and can help implement positive spending habits and repayment habits, they look a little further into the marketing of BNPL giant Afterpay and how their messaging, like most others, rely on attacking the vulnerabilities of shoppers to spend money they may not necessarily have, contributing to individual debt and stripping away any education on financial responsibilities. "The Australian Dream or Great Australian Dream is, in its narrowest sense, a belief that in Australia, homeownership can lead to a better life and is an expression of success and security." In this episode, Damian and co-host Eshar explore the opportunities of becoming a home owner in Australia. The processes, the options and the motivations all behind entering the Aussie real estate market. Both Damian and Eshar entered the property market between 20-26 years old, after being driven and influenced by their families to make that decision for their future and that sense of security. But is buying a house at such an early age a good idea? Is it still possible to purchase an investment property and enjoy your smashed avo on your weekend brunching? What does an investment property look like? Do you buy your first home as a home or as an investment? Can they be the same? We hope you enjoy this episode! Welcome to Money Grows On Trees! A brand new podcast brought to you by Damian Medici, The Melbourne Broker. One thing we probably all share in common growing up is the lesson our elders tried to teach us, which is that money does not grow on trees. But we are here to tell you it does, and show you how. We are here to change the education and communication around all things money, mindset and motivation. From business to savings, investing your money or travelling around the world (pre/post COVID of course) or even just explaining how the f*** tax works and what it even goes towards - we aim to help whoever we can, however, we can, with all of the adulting stuff we are never really taught in school, but definitely needed to. After moving from country town Mildura to Melbourne at the age of 18, Damian was eager to begin his career in real estate. After moving from real estate to banking, back to real estate and then back to banking - Damian found himself obtaining his brokering license. After a lot of hard work, determination and many money mistakes, Damian started his own business in the Mortgage Brokering world and suddenly his two passions for real estate and finance were combined and made complete sense. Damian and Cara began working together in 2019 and after many strategy sessions, realised there was a need for education and a need to help people understand this subject in life that many people often avoid or can never wrap their heads around. It was obvious there was a gap in knowledge across the board when it came to many things involving money. Although here to help people buy houses and obtain their loans, Damian realised the help needed to extend back into educating people on how to even begin their journey and embark on it confidently. How to save, why to save, what to do, what not to do. Alas, we bring to you - Money Grows On Trees. If you have any questions, we would love to hear from you! You can find Damian on Instagram @themelbournebroker or you can join our closed Facebook group 'Money Grows On Trees' Stay tuned as a new episode will be released weekly!
