Welcome to Season 2! Everyday we are all overcoming something. How do you get passed  rejection or failing to get something that you really wanted?  It is not easy but with practice, you can find a way to bounce back quickly. It's taken me some time to develop these skills. One of the biggest tools that help seeing a bad situation in a more positive light is bringing perspective to the thoughts and feelings you have. Sometimes not getting what you thought you really wanted can be a blessing. I hope you enjoy this episode and thank you for listening.

Today marks the anniversary of the day my mom went to heaven to join my grandparents. Trying to overcome the loss of a parent, especially one that had such a pivotal role in my life as well as my family's lives was not easy. Everyday people have to overcome losses and my goal for sharing my experience is to help them or give them some things they can try to move forward during these difficult times. Additional information:'Why Losing a Parent Hurst So Much, No Matter Your Age," Dr. David Sackhttps://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/where-science-meets-the-steps/201709/why-losing-parent-hurts-so-much-no-matter-your-age'Grief: Coping with the loss of your loved one'  https://www.apa.org/topics/grief

Overcoming Racism and Discrimination Part 2

We conclude our discussion on Racism and Discrimination with my guests Sergio Rodriguez, Lisette Zounon and Mike Yates. We start off discussing how we have been feeling since the events that occurred with George Floyd. The ironic thing here is that since that occurred, there are more instances including the shooting this week of Jacob Black. I think the only good thing to say about current events is that more people are understanding what is really happening and many are protesting in their towns and refusing to continue their professional sporting events.  I am hopeful these seminal events do bring change and  I hope we continue to build bridges and make the world a better place for all of us. Thank you Sergio, Lisette and Mike for your honesty, candor, friendship and support.

Everyone has a story. Due to the recent events, it appears more acceptable for people to share some of these stories. I have thought about this episode for awhile and I am grateful to my guests: Sergio Rodriguez, Lisette Zounon and Mike Yates. Their willingness to unveil their experiences in hopes of building a better understanding about what its like to experience racism and discrimination is truly remarkable.  I hope we continue to build bridges and the conversation so we can make the world a better place for all of us.
