We've got close to 400 episodes, and with the new year, I felt inspired to categorize Dear Men in order to help you get the most out of it!I've broken it down into six buckets, then listed episodes in an order I believe would be supportive to listen to:1. Do you identify as a Nice Guy? If you already know about Nice Guy Syndrome (perhaps you've even read No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert Glover), you'll love these. If you've not yet heard about it but your spidey sense is going off, it's probably a good time to learn more:374: The 3 main archetypes of men. Which one are you? (ft. Jason Lange)239: Realized I'm a "Nice Guy." Now what do I do about it? (ft. Jason Lange)367: 'For some reason, I tend to attract "projects."' (ft. Jason Lange)289: Do Nice Guys tend to attract volatile women? (ft. Jason Lange)235: 'I see a beautiful woman and immediately get triggered. Why?' (ft. Jason Lange)340: Top 3 traits we've seen Nice Guys develop to get what they want! (ft. Jason Lange)295: Ever 'fallen into' a relationship? (ft. Jason Lange)284: Is cheating (including emotional affairs) correlated with Nice Guy Syndrome? (ft. Jason Lange)296: What does it actually mean to step into your power? (ft. Jason Lange)315: What happens once you've recovered from Nice Guy Syndrome? (ft. Dr. Robert Glover)---2. Ever been with an emotionally volatile partner? If you've ever been with a partner who scared you, who had a lot of emotional intensity, and around whom you felt you were walking on eggshells, then it's time to understand Borderline Personality Disorder. (This could rock your world!)319: 'My relationship is war.' (What do I do?) (Ft. Jason Lange)128: Feel like you're walking on eggshells? Recognizing Borderline Personality Disorder (ft. Violet Lange)313: GuyTalk: Life after being with a BPD partner (Borderline Personality Disorder)354: What's it like treating Borderline Personality Disorder? (Pt. 1) Ft. BCS 328- Transform Your Coaching Mindset: Overcome Client Loss, Elevate Your Vibe, and Grow Profits

    Business Coaching Secrets

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 9, 2026 44:45

In this episode of Business Coaching Secrets, Karl Bryan and Rode Dog kick off the new year by diving deep into the psychology of compounding success, handling client loss, building an irresistible brand, and the surprising power of stopping your worst habits before adding new ones. Packed with frameworks, mindsets, and strategies for scaling coaching businesses, this conversation sets a foundation for meaningful, profitable growth in 2026 and beyond. Key Topics Covered The Psychology of Compounding Karl Bryan explains how real progress in both business and personal growth follows a compounding curve—boring and slow for most of the journey, before results skyrocket. He compares doubling a penny every day to the patient grind of building new habits, networking, and acquiring skills. Managing Client Loss & Turning Pain into Fuel Drawing from personal experience, Karl reframes lost clients as vital awakenings for a coach's development, not failures. He likens the evolution to relationships, urging coaches to "build into someone no client would want to leave," reject desperation, and approach setbacks as chances to upgrade purpose and mastery. Status, Energy, and Luxury Branding in Coaching Karl discusses how "vibe" and energy—like a seasoned waiter in a top restaurant—create attraction and authority in client relationships. Coaches who hold themselves with confidence (not arrogance) and employ purposeful energy are respected, sought after, and able to retain clients long-term. Exclusivity, Scarcity & Storytelling Luxury brands like Gucci and Ferrari don't just charge more—they mean more. Karl reveals how controlled scarcity, storytelling, and identity shift the coaching value proposition from transactional to transformational. Rather than being "liked by everyone," coaches and clients win by being respected and building a brand people want to join. Zen Master Insights for Happiness & Productivity Karl shares Arthur Brooks' 4 rules for happiness and adds his own: "learning." He warns about the "death loop" of social media comparison, the dangers of technical work without meaning, and the need for deeper faith, family, genuine friendships, and personal growth. The Power of Eliminating Worst Habits First Instead of piling on new habits, Karl encourages coaches to ruthlessly cut out the most sabotaging activities—doom scrolling, excessive TV, video games, etc.—and channel freed-up energy into productive tasks. Focus is achieved more through removing distractions than forcing attention. Notable Quotes "The problem with compounding is it's not till day 25 that there's any excitement. The numbers are tiny and lame till everything takes off." "[When you lose a client], it's not the time to cry in your Cheerios—It's an awakening more than anything else." "Neediness is your enemy. Walk in like you own the place, not like you want to buy it." "Luxury branding isn't about charging more—it's about meaning more." "Focus is eliminating distractions more than it is focusing. No is a decision, yes is a responsibility." "Comparison is the thief of joy. Social media... is a death loop for happiness." Actionable Takeaways Play the Long Game With Compounding: Stick with new disciplines far past the "boring" stage; results will spike after consistency and patience. Transform Setbacks Into Upgrades: When clients leave, treat it as a wake-up call to elevate skills, boundaries, and purpose—don't focus on loss, focus on mastery. Embodied Confidence Wins Clients: Present yourself with purposeful energy and professional vibe—confidence, not arrogance, is magnetic to prospects. Engineer Scarcity & Story: Position your coaching as exclusive; tell a bigger brand story that clients aspire to join. Scarcity creates clarity and demand. Eliminate (Not Add) For Focus: List your worst habits and cut one immediately. Use freed-up time for learning, networking, or strategic work. Protect Your Mindset: Consciously avoid social media comparison and schedule time for real relationships, faith, and continual self-education. One of Mayor Zohran Mamdani's first appointments after being sworn in was Cea Weaver, the director of the Mayor's Office to Protect Tenants. Weaver is a longtime tenant organizer and the executive director of Housing Justice for All, an organization that works to strengthen tenant organizing, advance pro-tenant legislation, and elect tenants and their allies to public office. She also served as a policy adviser to Mamdani's mayoral campaign and is a frequent spokesperson in local, state and national media. But the appointment has drawn criticism after past tweets by Weaver about homeownership and white supremacy resurfaced. Weaver joined Errol Louis to discuss her new role and her plans to advocate for renters amid what the administration has declared a housing emergency. She outlined two early priorities for the office: intervening in court proceedings to protect rent-stabilized tenants affected by the bankrupt landlord Pinnacle Realty Group, and addressing non-rent fees that she says place an additional financial burden on tenants. She also responded to the backlash over her past remarks describing homeownership as "a weapon of white supremacy."

The stakes could not be higher as Oregon and Indiana meet for a second time this season, this time in the Peach Bowl with a spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship on the line. When the two teams last faced off in October, Indiana left Autzen Stadium with a 30–20 win, a result that still frames the conversation heading into the rematch in Atlanta. On this episode of Autzen Audibles, Matt Prehm, Erik Skopil, and John Evans break down how much that first meeting truly matters, while also examining how Oregon has changed since the loss — and how the Ducks must adjust without star freshman running back Jordon Davison. With Oregon's rushing depth tested, the conversation turns to whether the Ducks can manufacture a consistent ground game, lean more heavily on the passing attack, and protect Dante Moore against an Indiana defense that thrives on discipline and execution. The episode wraps with full Peach Bowl picks, as each host lays out how they see the rematch unfolding and which team they believe will earn a trip to the national championship game. In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing the current state of the MBA admissions season. Twenty-nine leading MBA programs have an application deadline during this upcoming week!  In fact, the only top schools without deadlines this week are NYU / Stern, MIT / Sloan, Texas / McCombs, USC / Marshall and INSEAD  - and these programs all have deadlines next week or the following week. Graham highlighted MBA webinar events that are on the horizon that Clear Admit is hosting. The first webinar looks at the enduring value of the MBA. The second series of events is for deferred admissions candidates who are currently completing their first degrees. As always, signups are for our events are here: https://www.clearadmit.com/events Graham noted a news story recently published on Clear Admit which takes stock of the past year and looks ahead to MBA predictions for 2026. These predictions, from the Clear Admit team, include a shift in the admissions process that focuses more on areas of the process that cannot be impacted by AI, the possibility that the GRE becomes the most popular MBA admissions test, and the notion that b-schools will continue to roll out specialized masters to help young professionals get the tools needed in today's workforce. Graham also noted four MBA admissions tips, focusing on scholarship negotiations, the data forms, optional essays, and how to show an MBA program that you've done the research on their offering. Graham then noted a Real Humans piece spotlighting students from the University of St Gallen MBA in Switzerland. We then discussed two recently published Class of 2025 employment reports from Wharton and Columbia. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected two ApplyWire entries and one DecisionWire entry: This week's first MBA admissions candidate appears to have an interesting background, from Colombia. However, we fear that their 309 GRE score will harm their chances at the very top MBA programs. This week's second MBA applicant is an investment banker and has a very strong background. But they have a DUI from their university days. We discussed those implications. This week's final MBA candidate has several offers from leading MBA programs. They are seriously weighing the offers between Booth (with $130K scholarship and a dual degree offer) and Harvard. This episode was recorded in Paris, France and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. Thanks to all of you who've been joining us and please remember to rate and review this show wherever you listen!

A short viral video can carry a heavy lesson. In this conversation, we react to a clip of a man cheerfully taking a dab before heading into worship, then trace why that mindset feels so normal in a culture where access, approval, and algorithmic affirmation are everywhere. Josiah, now over three years sober, speaks from the inside: how weed became a crutch, how he convinced himself it was harmless, and how a vague, individualized faith left him without friction. The quiet part is said out loud—when church becomes a crowd and “check the box” routine, almost anything can be baptized as personal freedom. The episode digs into prelest, the ancient word for spiritual delusion. It names the subtle fog where we crown our impulses as insight and confuse a buzz for peace. We explore why “Scripture doesn't name marijuana” becomes a convenient shield, and how eisegesis—reading our desire into the text—lets us weaponize “God made plants” to dodge sober judgment. The question is not botany; it is the state of the heart and mind we bring to Christ. If worship asks for a clear conscience and a sober mind, does a self-induced altered state fit anywhere near the chalice? From there we contrast scaffolds. In many megachurch settings, low demands and soft edges feel welcoming, but they also make it easy to hide. Orthodoxy introduces a different rhythm: confession to a spiritual father, fasting as preparation, public gestures of mutual forgiveness, and weekly self-examination before communion. These practices do not exist to shame but to heal. They put light on the interior life and make denial harder. Accountability is not surveillance; it is a structure that makes repentance normal and restoration possible.Josiah shares the psychology of relapse math: one glass of wine can become the excuse that justifies the next hit. He draws a clear boundary for himself without projecting it onto everyone else, naming how different bodies and histories require different guardrails. Yet he also calls out the difference between a Saturday night overstep and an intentional plan to walk into worship high. The former still needs repentance, but the latter tries to redefine sobriety as spirituality. That is not mercy; it is confusion dressed as freedom. We widen the lens to a medicated society where dispensaries sit on corners and pharmacies inside grocery stores. No one stands outside temptation. The point is not to rank sins but to seek healing that touches both soul and body. Here Orthodoxy's insistence that grace is tangible matters: communion, chrismation, and the ascetic life do not offer a magic switch, but they do offer medicine that works on the person as a whole. Healing is a long obedience, not a dopamine hack; it is the slow renewal of desire under the care of the Church.Where does this leave the listener wrestling with weed, shame, or mixed messages? Begin with honesty. Ask for help. Let a trusted pastor or spiritual father test your self-story, because we are all the worst judges of our own case. Practice small acts of preparation—prayer, fasting, confession—that make communion more than a line you join. If you need stricter boundaries, take them without apology. Joy grows in clarity. Sobriety is not a downgrade from experience; it is the condition for seeing God and loving your neighbor without a haze.Questions about Orthodoxy? These questions expose the real reasons behind porn addiction, reveal how identity and emotional avoidance fuel relapse, and clarify the path toward lasting freedom.   Frank also introduces the Reboot Your Life system, a proven identity-based transformation framework that goes beyond sobriety to help men rebuild their structure, discipline, brotherhood, and purpose.   This episode is a must-listen for any man who's tired of starting over and ready to make a real decision heading into the new year.     Key Takeaways Most men stay stuck because they ask the wrong questions   Porn is a symptom, not the root problem   Addiction often serves a hidden emotional or psychological purpose Identity is revealed through private patterns, not public intentions   Relapse is usually driven by emotional avoidance, not desire   Beliefs always come before behavior—lies fuel the cycle   Isolation strengthens addiction; brotherhood breaks it   Structure protects against relapse and chaos feeds compulsion   Looking honestly at the future creates urgency for change   Questions create clarity, but action creates freedom       Ready to Stop Fighting and Start Becoming Free? Welcome to Episode 314 of Lucretius Today. This is a podcast dedicated to the poet Lucretius, who wrote "On The Nature of Things," the most complete presentation of Epicurean philosophy left to us from the ancient world. Each week we walk you through the Epicurean texts, and we discuss how Epicurean philosophy can apply to you today. If you find the Epicurean worldview attractive, we invite you to join us in the study of Epicurus at EpicureanFriends.com, where we discuss this and all of our podcast episodes.   We are closing in on the end of those portions of Tusculan Disputations that are most relevant to Epicurean philosophy today, so we'll pick up this week after Section 26 of Part 5.As we close in on Cicero's final arguments on virtue, we will focus on the very different view of virtue held by Epicurus. Two passages that reveal this difference are:QuoteCicero, Tusculan Disputations 3.41—42 (Usener 67, 69)[Epicurus On The End] 'For my part I cannot conceive of anything as the good if I remove the pleasures perceived by means of taste and sex and listening to music, and the pleasant motions felt by the eyes through beautiful sights, or any other pleasures which some sensation generates in a man as a whole. Certainly it is impossible to say that mental delight is the only good. For a delighted mind, as I understand it, consists in the expectation of all the things I just mentioned - to be of a nature able to acquire them without pain... ' A little later he adds: 'I have often asked men who were called wise what they could retain as the content of goods if they removed those things, unless they wanted to pour out empty words. I could learn nothing from them; and if they want to babble on about virtues and wisdoms, they will be speaking of nothing except the way in which those pleasures I mentioned are produced.' (Long & Sedley - Hellenistic Philosophers)QuoteXII. The truth of the position that pleasure is the ultimate good will most readily appear from the following illustration. Let us imagine a man living in the continuous enjoyment of numerous and vivid pleasures alike of body and of mind, undisturbed either by the presence or by the prospect of pain: what possible state of existence could we describe as being more excellent or more desirable? One so situated must possess in the first place a strength of mind that is proof against all fear of death or of pain; he will know that death means complete unconsciousness, and that pain is generally light if long and short if strong, so that its intensity is compensated by brief duration and its continuance by diminishing severity. Let such a man moreover have no dread of any supernatural power; let him never suffer the pleasures of the past to fade away, but constantly renew their enjoyment in recollection, and his lot will be one which will not admit of further improvement.Suppose on the other hand a person crushed beneath the heaviest load of mental and of bodily anguish to which humanity is liable. Grant him no hope of ultimate relief in view also give him no pleasure either present or in prospect. Can one describe or imagine a more pitiable state? If then a life full of pain is the thing most to be avoided, it follows that to live in pain is the highest evil; and this position implies that a life of pleasure is the ultimate good. In fact the mind possesses nothing in itself upon which it can rest as final. Every fear, every sorrow can be traced back to pain; there is no other thing besides pain which is of its own nature capable of causing either anxiety or distress.Pleasure and pain moreover supply the motives of desire and of avoidance, and the springs of conduct generally. This being so, it clearly follows that actions are right and praiseworthy only as being a means to the attainment of a life of pleasure. But that which is not itself a means to anything else, but to which all else is a means, is what the Greeks term the Telos, the highest, ultimate or final Good. It must therefore be admitted that the Chief Good is to live agreeably.https://www.epicureanfriends.com/thread/4876-episode-314-td41-the-war-between-virtue-defined-1-absolutely-as-end-in-itself-vs/?postID=38314#post38314

Want help uncovering the real reasons behind your urges and building a plan to overcome your pornography use? Click here to book a free call with Sam to get help to overcome pornography – https://stopporn.info/    Have questions you want me to address on future podcast episodes? Email me here:  sam@healingcouples.org   Episode Show Notes: Most men trying to quit porn are taught to fight lust, distract themselves, suppress urges, or “channel sexual energy” somewhere else. And for a while, those strategies might seem to work — until they don't. In this episode, I break down why many traditional approaches to porn addiction recovery actually keep men stuck, and what it really takes to develop mastery over lust without repression, panic, or constant willpower. You'll hear me unpack the three categories of urges — coping urges, habit-based urges, and biological urges — and why confusing them leads to relapse, frustration, and exhaustion in porn recovery. I also explain the critical difference between sexual arousal and lust, and why treating normal arousal like a moral failure fuels compulsive pornography use. From there, I introduce a practical, repeatable framework for handling biological porn urges in real time — without distraction, suppression, or fantasy. This approach helps men stay present in their bodies, interrupt escalation, and experience sexual desire without turning to pornography. In this episode, you'll learn: Why fighting lust often makes porn addiction worse The difference between sexual arousal and lust (and why it matters for quitting porn) How to identify whether an urge is emotional, habitual, or biological Why distraction and suppression fail in porn addiction recovery A step-by-step method for staying grounded when porn urges hit How to build long-term freedom from pornography without white-knuckling This episode is for men who want more than short-term control — men who want to overcome porn addiction, stop cycling through urges and relapse, and build a calm, integrated relationship with their sexuality. If you're searching for real help with: porn addiction recovery, how to quit porn, pornography addiction healing, how to stop porn urges, mastery over lust, freedom from pornography, this episode will give you clarity, language, and a framework you can actually use.
