Preach the Gospel

The Text:  John 4:21-24 (ESV) Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.  [22] You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.  [23] But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.  [24] God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."

This is a Lord's Table homily given at Believers Fellowship in San Antonio, Texas. Romans 5:6-11 (ESV) For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  [7] For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— [8] but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  [9] Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.  [10] For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.  [11] More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

This is a Lord's Table homily given on February 18, 2007 at Believers Fellowship. Col. 2:13-14 (ESV) And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,  [14] by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
