And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”Consider: ADAMEverything is topography/geographyCreation, universe, earthGenesis 1:2 (NIV) Now the earth WAS (became) formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.God does not create formless, empty or darknessSatan thrown to earth - destruction ensuedRevelation 12:7–13 (NIV) Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.Luke 10:17–20 (ESV) The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Matthew Week 137 Matthew 24:23-25 ESV 23 Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There he is!' do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand. Matthew 24:26-28 ESV 26 So, if they say to you, 'Look, he is in the wilderness,' do not go out. If they say, 'Look, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.27 For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather. Matthew 24:29-31 ESV 29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Ezekiel 32:7-8 ESV When I blot you out, I will cover the heavens and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light. 8 All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over you, and put darkness on your land, declares the Lord God. Ezekiel 32:1-2 ESV In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 2 "Son of man, raise a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him: Luke 19:42-44 ESV 42 saying, "Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side 44 and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation." Matthew 23:35-36 ESV 35 so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. 36 Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. Matthew 24:32-35 ESV 32 "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Matthew 24:36 ESV 36 "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. Matthew 24:37-39 ESV 37 For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Matthew 24:40-42 ESV 40 Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. 42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. Preacher: Jeremiah Fyffe Romans 8:31–39 Romans 8:31–39 | What Shall We Say Then? from CrossPointe Coast on Vimeo. WHAT THEN SHALL WE SAY? WHO CAN BE AGAINST US? WHO SHALL BRING ANY CHARGE? WHO SHALL SEPARATE US? Before the Throne of God Above When Satan tempts me to despair And tells me of the guilt within, Upward I look and see him there, Who made an end of all my sin. Because the sinless Savior died, My sinful soul is counted free, For God the just is satisfied To look on him and pardon me Romans 3:26 (ESV) It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Before the throne of God above Before the throne of God above I have a strong and perfect plea: A great High Priest whose name is Love, Who ever lives and pleads for me. My name is graven on his hands, My name is written on his heart. I know that while in Heav'n he stands No tongue can bid me thence depart, Colossians 3:3 (ESV) For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 2 Corinthians 4:8–11 (ESV) We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. Ephesians 1:4–7 (ESV) In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace Matthew 5:11–12 (ESV) Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. D. A. Carson I do not think what the Bible says about the love of God can long survive at the forefront of our thinking if it is abstracted from the sovereignty of God, the holiness of God, the wrath of God, the providence of God, the personhood of God, to mention only a few non-negotiable elements of basic Christianity. The result, of course, is the love of God in our culture has been purged of anything the culture finds uncomfortable. The love of God has been sanitized, democratized, and, above all, sentimentalized.
God promises to shepherd the scattered Himself—Jesus embodies that promise and then sends others into the same compassionate work. Matthew 9:35–38 (ESV)And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”Ezekiel 34:11–16 (ESV)“For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them with good pasture, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing land. There they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on rich pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel. I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice.

Pastor John Ryan Cantu brings this week's message, “God Chose Me.”Key Verses:Luke 19:1-10 ESV: “He entered Jericho and was passing through. And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.””John 15:16 ESV: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”Ephesians 1:4-5 ESV: “even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. Deuteronomy 11:10–12 (ESV) - “For the land that you are entering to take possession of it is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and irrigated it, like a garden of vegetables. But the land that you are going over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water by the rain from heaven, a land that the Lord your God cares for. The eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches the difference between the land of Goshen and the Promised Land. Goshen was a place of temporary provision, where people relied on their own effort to sustain what they had. But the Promised Land represents destiny, where God Himself watches over, provides, and works alongside His people. Pastor Sumrall reminds us that while God may bring us into seasons of abundance during difficult times, those seasons are not meant to be permanent. There comes a time to move forward into the life God has prepared, a place where His care, timing, and provision are evident in every season. Leave behind temporary comfort and step into God's purpose, trusting that in His plan, we not only experience provision but partnership with Him. God has generously entrusted every believer with gifts—not for self-promotion or comfort, but for faithful service. In Christ, we are stewards of grace, called to use what we have been given to love deeply, serve joyfully, and build up others. Our abilities become a blessing when they are offered in humility and faith, pointing not to ourselves, but to the God who supplies all we need. 1 Peter 4:8–11 (ESV)Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.Romans 12:4–8 (ESV)For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.Luke 12:41–48 (ESV)Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all?” And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,' and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful. And that servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
From “In the Beginning” to Amen // Love + Obey Note for online notes section only:Here in the first 12 chapters of the book of Deuteronomy, Moses reintroduces the law and the promises of God to the next generation who will be the ones to enter into the promised land. Moses reinforced the character of God and the importance of His covenant of love with His people, warning the Israelites to be faithful to the Lord, unlike their fathers who had rejected the Lord and His promises just 40 years prior. Deuteronomy 5:1-21 (ESV)“And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rules that I speak in your hearing today, and you shall learn them and be careful to do them. The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. Not with our fathers did the LORD make this covenant, but with us, who are all of us here alive today. The LORD spoke with you face to face at the mountain, out of the midst of the fire, while I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to declare to you the word of the LORD. For you were afraid because of the fire, and you did not go up into the mountain.' He said, ‘I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day. Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. You shall not murder. And you shall not commit adultery. And you shall not steal. And you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. And you shall not covet your neighbor's wife. And you shall not desire your neighbor's house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.'” The Lord your God X 132 For your Good X 14 Fear the Lord X 8 Three Benefits of Obedience We Reap the Fruit of His Righteous Life Deuteronomy 6:3 (NKJV) “…that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the LORD… promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.” Proverbs 14:14 (ESV) “The backslider in heart will be filled with the fruit of his ways, and a good man will be filled with the fruit of his ways.” John 14:15 (KJV) “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” We Announce What God is Like Deuteronomy 4:5-10 (ESV)“See, I have taught you statutes and rules, as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should do them in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the LORD our God is to us, whenever we call upon him? And what great nation is there, that has statutes and rules so righteous as all this law that I set before you today? “Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children's children— how on the day that you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, the LORD said to me, ‘Gather the people to me, that I may let them hear my words, so that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children so.'” We Have Confidence in Truth Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV)“There is a way that seems right to a man but in the end it leads to death.” Psalm 119:160 (ESV)“The sum of your word is truth.” Psalm 19:7 (ESV)“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.” Deuteronomy 7:6-8 (ESV)“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the LORD set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but it is because the LORD loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.”
Genesis 39:11–20 (ESV) But one day, when he went into the house to do his work and none of the men of the house was there in the house, she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out of the house. And as soon as she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled out of the house, she called to the men of her household and said to them, “See, he has brought among us a Hebrew to laugh at us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice. And as soon as he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried out, he left his garment beside me and fled and got out of the house.” Then she laid up his garment by her until his master came home, and she told him the same story, saying, “The Hebrew servant, whom you have brought among us, came in to me to laugh at me. But as soon as I lifted up my voice and cried, he left his garment beside me and fled out of the house.” As soon as his master heard the words that his wife spoke to him, “This is the way your servant treated me,” his anger was kindled. And Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison. The Ninth Commandment - Exodus 20:16 (ESV) “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. This Is The Core Of Who The Devil Is - Revelation 12:10 (ESV) …for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.He Lied About God In The Garden - Genesis 3:4–5 (ESV) But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”He Lied About Jesus RepeatedlyAccused of casting out demons by the power of Satan (Beelzebub/prince of demons): Pharisees and scribes falsely claimed Jesus' exorcisms were empowered by demonic forces rather than the Holy Spirit (a lie that Jesus called the unforgivable blasphemy against the Holy Spirit). Matthew 9:34; Matthew 12:24; Mark 3:22; Luke 11:15.Accused of blasphemy for forgiving sins: Scribes and Pharisees charged Jesus with blasphemy when He declared a paralytic's sins forgiven, saying only God can do that (ignoring His divine authority). Matthew 9:2-3; Mark 2:6-7; Luke 5:20-21.Accused of being a glutton, drunkard, and friend of sinners: Critics lied that Jesus was indulgent and immoral because He ate and drank with tax collectors and outcasts (contrasting Him with John the Baptist). Matthew 11:19; Luke 7:34.Accused of having a demon or being insane/mad: Many Jews claimed Jesus was demon-possessed or delusional, dismissing His teachings. John 7:20; John 8:48-52; John 10:20-21.Accused of deceiving or misleading the people: Some in the crowd falsely labeled Jesus a deceiver who was stirring up trouble or leading people astray. John 7:12; also echoed in broader charges like John 7:47.Accused of breaking the Sabbath (and related blasphemy): Pharisees repeatedly accused Jesus (and His disciples) of unlawful Sabbath work (e.g., healing or plucking grain), plotting to accuse Him formally; this escalated to claims of making Himself equal with God. Matthew 12:1-14 (disciples' grain and withered hand healing); John 5:16-18 (healing at Bethesda pool).False testimony at the Sanhedrin trial about destroying the temple: Multiple false witnesses lied that Jesus claimed He would destroy the temple made with hands and rebuild it in three days (a distortion of John 2:19, where He spoke of His body). Their testimonies didn't even agree. Matthew 26:59-61; Mark 14:55-59.Accused of blasphemy for claiming to be the Christ/Son of God: After Jesus affirmed He was the Messiah (and referenced Daniel 7/Psalm 110), the high priest tore his robes and declared it blasphemy, leading the council to condemn Him to death. Matthew 26:63-66; Mark 14:61-64; Luke 22:66-71.Accused before Pilate and Roman authorities of perverting the nation, opposing taxes to Caesar, and claiming kingship (treason/sedition): Jewish leaders twisted Jesus' teachings into political crimes (e.g., He actually taught “render to Caesar what is Caesar's” in Matthew 22:21); they also called Him an evildoer/malefactor and stirred up the people. Pilate found no guilt, but the false charges led to crucifixion (with the inscription “King of the Jews”). Luke 23:1-5 (main charges); John 18:30 (“malefactor”); John 19:12; Mark 15:2-3; Matthew 27:11-14.He Will Lie About You (Through Others)WHEN FALSELY ACCUSED…Give It To God, Let Him Handle It - FOLLOW Jesus!Proverbs 19:5 (ESV) A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will not escape.Isaiah 54:17 (ESV) no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him.ClosingGalatians 6:9 (ESV) And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.Hebrews 10:36 (ESV) For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
Pastor John Ryan Cantu brings this week's message, “What is Gospel?”Key Verse: Matthew 7:15-23 ESV: ““Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'” Romans 1:16 NIV: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 10:13-15 ESV: “For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”” Acts 6:1-4 ESV: “Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”” Matthew 25:31-40 ESV: ““When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'” Sermon Topics: Gospel, False Prophets, Gospel DemonstratedIf you enjoyed the podcast, please subscribe and share it with your friends on social media. Or are you indeed to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.”Genesis 37:11 “And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind.”Genesis 37:18 ESV “They saw him from afar, and before he came near to them they conspired against him to kill him.”Genesis 37:20 ESV “Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother, our own flesh.” And his brothers listened to him.”Genesis 37:31-33 ESV “Then they took Joseph's robe and slaughtered a goat and dipped the robe in the blood. And they sent the robe of many colors and brought it to their father and said, “This we have found; please identify whether it is your son's robe or not.” And he identified it and said, “It is my son's robe. A fierce animal has devoured him. Joseph is without doubt torn to pieces.””Generational Dysfunction Before This Chapter1. Abraham's GenerationDeception/Lying: Abraham twice claimed his wife, Sarah, was only his sister out of fear for his own life, putting Sarah in danger (Genesis 12:10–20; Genesis 20:1–18).Sexual Sin/Lack of Faith: Sarah encouraged Abraham to sleep with her maidservant, Hagar, to produce an heir, an act outside of God's original plan for marriage, leading to significant strife (Genesis 16).2. Isaac's GenerationFavoritism: Both Isaac and Rebekah practiced favoritism toward their sons, which laid the foundation for future division and conflict in the family.Isaac loved Esau because he enjoyed his wild game, while Rebekah loved Jacob (Genesis 25:28).3. Jacob's GenerationDeception/Lying: Rebekah and Jacob conspired to deceive Isaac, who was old and blind, so that Jacob could steal the spiritual and material blessing intended for his older brother, Esau (Genesis 27).Sibling Rivalry/Malice: The deception led to intense hatred, causing Esau to vow to kill Jacob, forcing Jacob to flee the land (Genesis 27:41).4. Jacob (Israel)'s Sons' GenerationViolence and Malice: Simeon and Levi committed a treacherous act of murder against the entire male population of Shechem in revenge for the rape of their sister, Dinah (Genesis 34). Jacob later condemned their anger and violence on his deathbed (Genesis 49:5–7).Sexual Sin/Violation of Authority: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, slept with his father's concubine, Bilhah. This gross violation of patriarchal authority and sexual purity resulted in him losing his preeminence and birthright (Genesis 35:22; Genesis 49:3–4).Favoritism, Hatred, and Violence:Jacob repeated the sin of his parents by practicing blatant favoritism, loving Joseph more than his other sons and giving him the famous "robe of many colors" (Genesis 37:3).The brothers' jealousy and hatred grew, leading them to plot to kill Joseph and ultimately selling him into slavery to passing traders (Genesis 37:4, 18–28).Deception/Lying: To conceal their crime, the brothers dipped Joseph's robe in goat's blood and lied to their father, causing him prolonged grief (Genesis 37:31–35).Deception and Sexual Sin (Judah): Judah, one of the brothers, had his own history of sexual sin when he mistakenly slept with his widowed daughter-in-law, Tamar, who disguised herself as a prostitute after he had refused to give her his third son in marriage (Genesis 38).DYSFUNCTION: Misalignment With God's WordWe All Unknowingly Grow Up In A Level Of DysfunctionWe Recognize It When It “Gets On Us”We Struggle To Recognize When It “Gets In Us”Part Of Discipleship Is The Transformation Of Our DysfunctionOvercoming Family Dysfunction: Live In The WordThe Word Brings Spiritual Life - Matthew 4:3–4 (ESV) And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, “ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.' ”Manna - Exodus 16:19–21 (ESV) And Moses said to them, “Let no one leave any of it over till the morning.” But they did not listen to Moses. Some left part of it till the morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them. Morning by morning they gathered it, each as much as he could eat; but when the sun grew hot, it melted. The Word Reveals Dysfunction Within You - James 1:23–25 (ESV) For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.Following Jesus, some of it will just fall offThe Word will reveal a manageable load at a time that is still attacjedDaily reading is like the finest of sandpaper - it hurts lessBeing in a Bible preaching/teaching church will expose chunksPodcasts/Books will help to fine tuneThe Word Reveals Dysfunction Around You - Hebrews 4:12–13 (ESV) For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE John 11.1-44 Gordon Dabbs, PhD John 11.25-26 (ESV) I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. John 11.5 (ESV) Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. John 11.6 (ESV) When he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was. Jesus is not late—He is purposeful. John 11.8 (ESV) The disciples said to him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone you, and are you going there again?” “If I'm leading, you're safe — even when it doesn't feel safe.” John 11.11 (ESV) “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him.” John 11.15 (ESV) For your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. Sometimes our Lord allows situations to move past what we think is the point of no return—not to harm us, but to show us who He really is. John 11.21 (ESV) Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” John 11.22 (ESV) But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you. That's not a lack of faith. That's real faith… wounded, but real. John 11.25 (ESV) “I am the resurrection and the life.” John 11.26 (ESV) “Do you believe this?” Not: Do you understand this? Does this make sense? John 11.27 (ESV) “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.” John 11.33, 35 (ESV) Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled… Jesus wept. He shares our sorrow before He solves it. Jesus wept. Philippians 1.21 (CEV) If I live, it will be for Christ, and if I die, I will gain even more. The only people in Scripture who never celebrate their own resurrection… are the ones who had already tasted heaven. John 11.26 - “Do you believe this?” Do you believe… • That Jesus is not just able to give life—but IS life? • When His timing doesn't match yours? • When He feels late? • When He lets the story go further than you wanted? Today, He asks you to believe Him when he says, “I am the resurrection and the life.”Subscribe to PRESTONCREST - with Gordon Dabbs on Soundwise
Daniel 3:24-25 (ESV)24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished and rose up in haste. He declared to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” 25 He answered and said, “But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.”Today, I will be taking my story out of the book of Daniel. We will be looking at the specific posture of faith these men took that positioned them for God's intervention.Summarizing the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego:Jerusalem was taken captive by BabylonKing Nebuchadnezzar wanted to educate their best youth in the literature and language of the Chaldeans (highly educated class of men who serve the king)Three of the youths we know as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego; who were later appointed over affairs of the provinceKing Nebuchadnezzar decided to make a statue of gold for all in Babylon to worshipShadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to obey the king's commandThe Chaldeans maliciously accused the Jews of being insubordanate to the king's orderThe king was furious at this and threatened them Nebuchadnezzar had the three Hebrews thrown into the fiery furnaceHe looked and saw four men walking around, unharmedNebuchadnezzar declared the God of Shadrrach, Meshach and Abednego delivered his servants who trusted in Him3 Faith Postures In My “Fiery Furnace” Experience1. Faith Obeys God Even Under PressureDaniel 3:16-18Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to the golden image, even though disobedience meant death in the fiery furnace.Key truth: Biblical faith chooses obedience to God over cultural pressure, fear, or consequences.Acts 5:29 (ESV)“But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.”Romans 12:2 (ESV)“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”Cliche -”WWJD?” - But I find myself asking that often.2. Faith Trusts God's Power—But Submits to His WillDaniel 3:17-18“Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us… but if not, we will not serve your gods” Key truth: Faith believes God can act but also trusts Him even if He doesn't act the way we hope.Hebrews 11:1 (ESV)“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”Matthew 26:39 (ESV)“And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.'”2 Corinthians 5:7 (ESV)“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”3. Faith Experiences God's Presence in the FireDaniel 3:24-25God didn't keep them out of the fire—He met them in it. A fourth figure appeared with them, and they were unharmed.Key truth:Faith does not promise the absence of trials, but the presence of God in them.Isaiah 43:2 (ESV)“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”Psalm 66:10–12 (ESV)“For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried.11 You brought us into the net; you laid a crushing burden on our backs; 12 you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.”Matthew 28:20 (ESV)“And behold, I am with you always…”Hebrews 11:11-12 (ESV)11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

I AM THE DOOR John 10.1-12 Gordon Dabbs, PhD John 10.1-9 (ESV) “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. Jesus chose to say something offensive: John 10.9 (ESV) I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The Pharisees' conclusions about Jesus: • John 9.16 (ESV) “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” • John 9.17 (ESV) “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” In a world where sheep were common, everyone knew how shepherds would lie down across the doorway/opening of the sheep's pen at night. Nothing went in our out unless it went through the shepherd. John 10.9 (ESV) I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The door doesn't trap sheep in their pen, it protects them. 1 Timothy 2.5 (ESV) For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus… John 14.6 (ESV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Acts 4.11-12 (ESV) This Jesus… there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Jesus is the door. This means: • Evaluate what enters your life. • Stop trying to be your own gatekeeper. • Practice boundary holiness. • When anxious, return to the door. Preacher: Jeremiah Fyffe Genesis 3:8–21 THE CURSE IS SUFFERING THE CURSE IN OUR IMAGINATION THE GOSPEL IN THE CURSE WHAT DO WE DO WITH SUFFERING? Be Strengthened in Grace Be Sustained in Weakness 1 Corinthians 15:54–55 (ESV) “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” Galatians 3:13 (ESV) Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree” James 1:4 (ESV) And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Romans 5:1–2 (ESV) Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 1 Peter 5:10 (ESV) And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV) But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:10 (ESV) For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
A life of taking ground in our faith is not a life of adversity, rather it is the of having gone through adversity with our eyes fixed on God.[Daniel 1:5, 8-9 NET] So the king assigned them a daily ration from his royal delicacies and from the wine he himself drank. They were to be trained for the next three years. At the end of that time they were to enter the king's service. [8] But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the royal delicacies or the royal wine. He therefore asked the overseer of the court officials for permission not to defile himself. [9] Then God made the overseer of the court officials sympathetic to Daniel. God can do the ______________ when your aim is to please him.[Daniel 2:14-18 NET] Then Daniel spoke with prudent counsel to Arioch, who was in charge of the king's executioners and who had gone out to execute the wise men of Babylon. [15] He inquired of Arioch the king's deputy, “Why is the decree from the king so urgent?” Then Arioch informed Daniel about the matter. [16] So Daniel went in and requested the king to grant him time, that he might disclose the interpretation to the king. [17] Then Daniel went to his home and informed his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah of the matter. [18] He asked them to pray for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery so that he and his friends would not be destroyed along with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. [Proverbs 2:6 ESV] For the Lord gives wisdom, from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. We gain ground by God for wisdom. [Daniel 3:16-18 NET] …“We do not need to give you a reply concerning this. [17] If our God whom we are serving exists, he is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he will rescue us, O king, from your power as well. [18] But if he does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we don't serve your gods, and we will not pay homage to the golden statue that you have erected.”[Daniel 6:10-11 NET] When Daniel realized that a written decree had been issued, he entered his home, where the windows in his upper room opened toward Jerusalem. Three times daily he was kneeling and offering prayers and thanks to his God just as he had been accustomed to do previously. [11] Then those officials who had gone to the king came by collusion and found Daniel praying and asking for help before his God.Through Daniel's life he cultivated a _________ of prayer and ____________ . [1 Thessalonians 5 NIV] Rejoice always, [17] pray continually, [18] give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.[Proverbs 4:20-27 NIV] My son, pay attention to what I say;turn your ear to my words.[21] Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart;[22] for they are life to those who find themand health to one's whole body.[23] Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.[24] Keep your mouth free of perversity;keep corrupt talk far from your lips.[25] Let your eyes look straight ahead;fix your gaze directly before you.[26] Give careful thought to the paths for your feetand be steadfast in all your ways.[27] Do not turn to the right or the left;keep your foot from evil.[Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV] Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us (let's gain ground!),[2] fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. [3] Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. The daily habits that we ___________ determine the ___________ of our life.

What does it actually mean to be a child of God, and why does that understanding matter so much? In this first part of a two-part conversation, Dot and Cara dig into the theology behind spiritual adoption and identity, unpacking what Scripture teaches about being welcomed into God's family. They explore the difference between being created by God and being a child of God, and why understanding that distinction brings security, freedom, and peace. Today's Sponsor: ToyBox 3D PrintersWelcome to the very first episode of Dad Tired Daily — a short, intentional daily reset designed to help men tend their inner world so they can show up more healed for their families, work, and communities. In this episode, Jerrad introduces the heart behind Dad Tired Daily and explores an often-overlooked reality: while much attention has (rightly) been given to a mother's mental load, many fathers are quietly carrying deep emotional strain with little language or support.Drawing from recent research, real-world stories, and Scripture, this episode invites dads to stop carrying heavy things alone — and to begin practicing simple inner hygiene, daily care for the soul. What You'll Hear in This EpisodeWhy fathers often carry mental and emotional strain in silenceThe cultural stigma that keeps men from talking about mental healthA real story illustrating the hidden cost of untreated distress in menWhy Scripture invites us to bring what's hidden into the lightResearch showing how a father's mental health impacts his childrenOne small, practical step you can take today to show up more healedScripture ReferencedHebrews 4:12–13 (ESV)“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword… and no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”Today's Inner Hygiene PracticeAsk yourself:What is one thing I'm carrying today that I haven't told anyone about?Reach out to one trusted friend and say something simple like:“I'm not looking for advice — I just need to say this out loud.”Bringing something into the light often reduces its power — and reminds us we're not meant to carry things alone. Why This MattersResearch increasingly shows that a father's mental and emotional health has a direct impact on his children — even before birth. Unaddressed stress, depression, or emotional dysregulation in fathers is associated with challenges in children's emotional regulation, social skills, cognitive development, and overall well-being.Strong families don't begin with perfect dads — they begin with healed men willing to tend their inner world.Referenced Research & ReportingJAMA Pediatrics (2024) — Meta-analysis of 84 studies showing associations between paternal mental distress around pregnancy/postpartum and poorer social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development in children.Hutchinson et al., Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics.Pacific Clinics — Reporting on paternal mental health, noting that nearly half of men experiencing mental health challenges never speak to anyone about it, and highlighting higher suicide rates among men.The 74 Million — Coverage on how paternal stress and mental health influence child development and family systems.News reporting on professional athletes and paternal suicide — Illustrating how many men struggle silently, even those closest to us never knew they were in pain.

Mark 11:11 ESV And he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple. And when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve. Matthew 26:28 (ESV) for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Ian Duguid The blood that would be shed to bring us peace was his blood. The righteous King had to die in place of his unrighteous followers, the Good Shepherd in place of his unfaithful flock, so that God could accomplish his eternal purposes. Revelation 19:11–16 (ESV) Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

Preacher: Jeremiah Fyffe Habakkuk 1:12-2:4 Habakkuk 1:12-2:4 | A Living Hope and Faith from CrossPointe Coast on Vimeo. HABAKKUK'S COMPLAINTS AND THE LORD'S ANSWERS HOW DO THE RIGHTEOUS LIVE? WHAT DOES FAITH LOOK LIKE? STRENGTH AND JOY! FIVE IMPLICATIONS The prophets help us to wait with final judgement in view. Faith rejects self-reliance, self-preservation. The Lord calls us to repent and believe. The Lord is your strength. The Lord is your joy. Faith is the unshakable posture of those waiting for the kingdom, for the security and peace of the King, in the meantime. Achtemeier Habakkuk is a book for all faithful people, of whatever era, who find themselves living “in the meantime”—in the time between the revelation of the promises of God and the fulfillment of those promises—in the time between their redemption, when God made his purposes clear, and the final time when that divine purpose will be realized in all the earth. As such, Habakkuk is a book from faith for faith. Romans 1:18 (ESV) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. Romans 3:10 (ESV) None is righteous, no, not one; Romans 4:5 (ESV) And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,
Do you need a champion? Someone who fights for you? In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares about Jesus, the Might God: Heaven's champion who stepped onto the battlefield and won our victory. Isaiah 9:6 ESV: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Names in Hebrew culture were not just identifiers; they had meaning. NamesDeclared purpose (Abram to Abraham – "Father of many nations")Described ability (Simon to Peter – "unstable" to "stable")Revealed characteristics (Esau – "hairy").So these aren't names Jesus would simply be called; they describe who He would be and what He would do. Even the name Jesus means "Yahweh is salvation" or "The Lord saves."So what does the name "Mighty God" mean?In Hebrew it is El Gibbor. El means God, and Gibbor means a champion warrior. El Gibbor literally means "The Warrior God."Psalm 24:7–8 NLT says, Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle. Both words translated mighty and invincible are gibbor. This name points to the idea of a champion fighter. In ancient times there was "champion warfare," where each army sent out one champion and the outcome of the fight determined the victory. This is what we see with David and Goliath. When the champion won, the people won.But Jesus is not just a gibbor—He is El Gibbor, the Warrior God. When Jesus was born, God entered the battlefield as our ultimate champion and won the battle for all of us. Christmas is not just sentimental; it celebrates a rescue mission where a battle was won. God sent His greatest warrior, His Son, to become our champion and fight for our freedom.Romans 8:35,37 NLT Overwhelming victory is ours through Christ. We are more than conquerors. What victories did Jesus, the Mighty God, win for us?Victory over Satan. Colossians 2:15 AMP Satan didn't walk away wounded; he was defeated and disarmed.Victory over sin. 1 John 3:8 NLT Jesus didn't just forgive what we did—He destroyed what controlled us.Victory over the world. John 16:33 NIV: In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.Victory over death. 1 Corinthians 15:21–22 NLT says resurrection and new life come through Christ. Death became a doorway, not an ending.ClosingPsalm 91:1 NLT: Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Our Mighty God fought the battle for us. He is our champion. Are you letting Him fight for you?

Amos 1:11-12 (ESV) Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and cast off all pity, and his anger tore perpetually, and he kept his wrath forever. Genesis 12:3 (ESV) I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Ephesians 2:11–13 (ESV) Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh … remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:15–16 (ESV) … that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. Ephesians 3:6 (ESV) This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. Ephesians 1:13–14 (ESV) In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:21 (ESV) … far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 1 Timothy 6:17–19 (ESV) As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
Advent HOPE 2025 John 8:12 ESV 12…Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Genesis 3:15 ESV I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." Genesis 12:7 ESV 7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. Galatians 3:16 ESV 16 Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, "And to offsprings," referring to many, but referring to one, "And to your offspring," who is Christ. Genesis 49:10 NASB "The scepter will not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples. Isaiah 7:14 ESV 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Micah 5:2 ESV But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. Isaiah 35:5-6 ESV 5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; 6 then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. Psalm 41:9 ESV Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me. Psalm 22:16-18 ESV For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet— 17 I can count all my bones— they stare and gloat over me; 18 they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. 1 Peter 3:15 ESV 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, Titus 2:11-13 ESV 11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, Ephesians 1:18 ESV 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 1 Peter 1:3-7 ESV 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 6:13-14, 17-19 ESV 13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, 14 saying, "Surely I will bless you and multiply you." 17 So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, 18 so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. 19 We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,
HOPE FOR THE JOURNEY 1 Thessalonians 4.13-5.11 Gordon Dabbs, PhD Our real and final destination is life everlasting with Jesus Christ—it's a new heaven and new earth. 1 Thessalonians 4.13 (ESV) We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. Our goodbyes in Christ are more like “See you later.” We grieve with hope. Why? 1 Thessalonians 4.14 (ESV) For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. Paul gives us this amazing preview of Christ's return. 1 Thessalonians 4.16-18 (ESV) For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. Thessalonians had a big question people still ask today. . . “When? When exactly is Jesus coming back?” 1 Thessalonians 5.1-3 (ESV) Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. We can't predict the exact moment Jesus returns. But we can be ready—because we belong to Him. And whenever that day comes, it will be the best day of our lives. Now, in this in-between time, how are we supposed to live? 1 Thessalonians 5.4-11 (ESV) But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. Today, if Paul were writing this letter, I think he might add something about screens. 1 Thessalonians 5.11 (ESV) Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. Paul says we should take with us on the journey. . . 1. Hope. 2. Encouragement. 3. Stay awake. 4. Don't fret over the arrival time 5. Connect to your church family. 6. TEXT US A COMMENT!We have been quietly brainwashed from boyhood to sit down, be quiet, and wait for someone else's approval before we can move. This episode exposes systematic approval conditioning. The hidden training that neutered you before you could even become a man.Rory digs into how parents, school, church, and the system programmed you to seek a green light of approval before you move. Then we show you how to break that leash with Scripture, conviction, and action. If you are tired of asking everyone if it is okay to obey God, this one is for you.QOTD: “If you live for permission from people, you will die with potential still in you.” - TDMPSOTD: Galatians 1:10 ESV“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God. Pastor John Ryan Cantu brings this week's message, “Jonah Syndrome.” Jonah 3.10 ESV: “When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.” Jonah 4.1-3 ESV: “But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry. And he prayed to the Lord and said, “O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster. Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”” Romans 9:.15 ESV: “For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”” Luke 23.34 ESV: “And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.” Romans 9.22-24 NLT: “In the same way, even though God has the right to show his anger and his power, he is very patient with those on whom his anger falls, who are destined for destruction. He does this to make the riches of his glory shine even brighter on those to whom he shows mercy, who were prepared in advance for glory. And we are among those whom he selected, both from the Jews and from the Gentiles.” If you enjoyed the podcast, please subscribe and share it with your friends on social media. Religion says, “Do better.”Grace says, “It's done.”We live in a culture addicted to performance — grades, promotions, followers, results. The world teaches us that our worth depends on what we produce. When that mentality seeps into faith, it strangles grace.Since Eden, humanity has tried to earn what only Heaven can give. Every false religion repeats the same lie: “If I can climb high enough or behave well enough, God will finally accept me.”But the Gospel obliterates that lie.Grace doesn't climb to God — grace comes down to man.OUR SPRINGBOARD FOR TODAY'S DISCUSSION IS:
In God's kingdom, greatness is defined by serving. Jesus didn't come to be served, but to serve—and He calls us to do the same. Paul reminds us that freedom in Christ expresses itself in love through service. Serving others doesn't require a title or a platform—it just takes eyes to see and a heart ready to respond. This week encourages us to take action and meet real needs in real time. Matthew 20:20-28 (ESV)Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something. And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Say that these two sons of mine are to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.” Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am to drink?” They said to him, “We are able.” He said to them, “You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.” And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers. But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”Galatians 5:13-14 (ESV)For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew Week 115 Matthew 19:30 ESV 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first. Matthew 20:1-2 ESV "For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. Deuteronomy 24:15 ESV 15 You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets (for he is poor and counts on it), lest he cry against you to the Lord, and you be guilty of sin. Leviticus 19:13 ESV 13 "You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired worker shall not remain with you all night until the morning. Matthew 20:3-16 ESV 3 And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and to them he said, 'You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.' 5 So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, 'Why do you stand here idle all day?' 7 They said to him, 'Because no one has hired us.' He said to them, 'You go into the vineyard too.' 8 And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.' 9 And when those hired about the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius. 10 Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. 11 And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, 12 saying, 'These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.' 13 But he replied to one of them, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last worker as I give to you. 15 Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?' 16 So the last will be first, and the first last." Matthew 6:22-23 ESV 22 "The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! Ezekiel 18:25, 29 ESV 25 "Yet you say, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' Hear now, O house of Israel: Is my way not just? Is it not your ways that are not just? 29 Yet the house of Israel says, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' O house of Israel, are my ways not just? Is it not your ways that are not just? 1 Corinthians 4:5 NIV 5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
You may be facing your own Jericho now—a wall that looks too high, too impossible. But before God tears down walls around you, He often wants to bring down walls within you. See how true victory is claimed in this message. Notes: Focus verse - Joshua 5 The Israelites didn’t believe God would provide for them. God proved He was able to provide, and He was teaching them to depend on Him. God proved Himself faithful. The nation listened to the fearful majority instead of the faithful minority.
