Puro In The Rough

Izzac, Jahmale and Lawrence are back and we talk the continuing effect of COVID-19 on the entire wrestling industry but especially in Japan as cases continue to creep up there, Champion's Carnival lineups, NOAH's recent long matches and the expected result of LIDET's new promotion, and the somewhat...interesting places us three have found wrestling to watch online!

Myself, Izzac and Jahmale tackle a lot of the wild real world issues that have been going on such as the Black Lives Matter movement, the Speaking Out movement on sexual assault, and Coronavirus and how those have not only affected wrestling, but the outside world as well.

Izzac is joined by Steven Ay (Twitter: @intlwrestling) have a one on one discussion on how they got into deathmatches, like Steven discovering it through ICP's Stranglemania tape in the 90s and falling in the rabbit hole. They then talk about the accesibility of wrestling now compared to when Steven grew up, wrestling bar culture in Japan, how wrestling may have become oversaturated in Japan, Steven's general Japan experiences and more!

The PITR crew are joined by special guest Ricky (Twitter: @Prowreshero)and we delve into the huge topic of Inokiism. We go to its roots in Inoki's fight with Muhammed Ali, all the way to the mid 2000s and try to clear up many misconceptions about Inokiism while also talking about some of the darker moments of it.

Lawrence, Jahmale and Izzac go over Miyahara's sudden departure from Diamond Ring to AJPW, the revived IWA Japan getting shut down ovr the booking of Super Crazy in 2009, Shinya Hashimoto and his eventual demise, and the NOSAWA and Io Shirai weed planting incident!

The PITR gang bring you a special quarantine time series where we go over the not so nice annals of puroresu throughout the years! This episode we really focus on BJW with stories such as Wing Kanemura's sexual harassment of a BJW employee, Shadow WX lighting himself on fire and getting fire banned in Korakuen Hall, the reason why Yoshihito Sasaki had to disappear from Zero1 and show up in BJW, and BJW's untimely releases of Sasaki and Shadow WX.
