(STINGER: AEW) Tonight's AEW Dark: Elevation has Nyla Rose & Emi Sakura vs. Kris Statlander & Ryo Mizunami. Plus, Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor & Wheeler Yuta vs. The Acclaimed & Serpentico. A special welcome to those of you listening on OccupyProWrestling.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. (STINGER: WWE) FOUR title matches are set for tonight's NXT. It's Halloween Havoc! Tommaso Ciampa defends the NXT Championship against Bron Breakker. Listen and subscribe at www.JustProWrestlingNews.com I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Friday, October 22, 2021. This update is brought to you by IndyWrestling.us. (STINGER: WWE) Expect some fallout from Thursday's Crown Jewel pay per view on tonight's SmackDown. Roman Reigns is STILL the Universal Champion coming out of Crown Jewel. He took advantage of a knocked-out referee, hit Brock Lesnar in the head with the title belt and pinned him to retain the gold. That title belt was slid into the ring by Paul Heyman, but who it was intended for was left...deliberately vague. Tonight's SmackDown is also the first WWE show with the new post-Draft rosters now in effect...and the situation involving the two women's singles championships on WWE's main roster remains a bit of a mess. Becky Lynch is still the SmackDown Women's Champion. She pinned Sasha Banks with a rollup while holding the bottom rope to win a 3-Way over Banks and Bianca Belair. So, Lynch is now officially part of the Raw roster, despite holding the SmackDown Women's Title...while Charlotte Flair is now on the SmackDown roster while holding the Raw Women's Title. We still don't know what WWE is going to do about this. Getting back to Crown Jewel...Big E hit the Big Ending and pinned Drew McIntyre to retain the WWE Championship. Xavier Woods is the King Of The Ring. He pinned Finn Balor with a springboard elbow drop. Zelina Vega is the first winner of the Queen's Crown tournament. She pinned Doudrop with a Code Red after about six minutes of action. Goldberg pinned Bobby Lashley to win their No Holds Barred match...after Goldberg speared Lashley off the stage. Edge beat Seth Rollins in their Hell In A Cell showdown. Mansoor beat Mustafa Ali. After the match, Tarek Hamdi, an Olympic silver medalist for Saudi Arabia in taekwondo, showed up and knocked out Ali. Randy Orton & Riddle beat AJ Styles & Omos to retain the Raw Tag Titles. Styles took the pin. The Usos beat Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander on the kickoff show. On Thursday's NXT UK… Jordan Devlin pinned Joe Coffey with the Devlin Side in the main event. Aleah James pinned Xia Brookside with a diving sunset flip from the second rope. Xia was NOT happy about this result. Jack Starz & Dave Mastiff got a DQ win over Symbiosis after Eddie Dennis attacked Starz with a steel chair. (STINGER: AEW) AEW's World Title Eliminator Tournament begins on tonight's Rampage...with Orange Cassidy vs. Powerhouse Hobbs. The TBS Championship Tournament bracket will be revealed. Also, AEW Women's Champion Dr. Britt Baker vs. Anna Jay… And Andrade El Idolo vs. Pac. (STINGER: New Japan) The biggest story to come out of Thursday may be one we didn't expect - the surprise in-ring return of Katsuyori Shibata. It happened just after the intermission of New Japan's G1 Climax Final show. Just about everyone was stunned to see Shibata walk out for an unannounced exhibition match against Zack Sabre Jr. Wearing little more than shorts and sneakers, the two grappled their way to a time limit draw after a mere FIVE minutes of action. This was NOT a hard-hitting match...but for fans of Shibata...it was something...and the hope that there may be more to come. Shibata was forced into retirement by a head injury, suffered during a match back in 2017. The G1 Climax final itself...was a bit of a buzzkill. Kota Ibushi injured his right arm when he missed a Phoenix Splash. It was ruled that Ibushi could not continue...and Kazuchika Okada was declared the G1 winner. (STINGER: Impact) Impact Wrestling last night put the final pieces in place for Saturday's Bound For Glory pay per view. The Good Brothers will defend the Impact Tag Titles in a 3-Way against BOTH FinJuice AND Bullet Club's Chris Bey & Hikuleo. The challenging teams met last night - but the match ended in a double pin...after two referees ended up in the ring and both counted a pinfall. The six wrestlers who will meet on Saturday to decide the first Impact Digital Media Champion came together for a 3-Way Tag Team Match last night. John Skyler & Tenille Dashwood beat Crazzy Steve & Chelsea Green and Jordynne Grace & Fallah Bahh. Dashwood pinned Fallah Bahh after hitting him with the Spotlight Kick. Also last night...Mickie James pinned Savannah Evans with her signature DDT. Trey Miguel beat Alex Zayne. AND Brian Myers kicked Sam Beale and Manny Lemons out from under his Learning Tree. W. Morrissey beat Jake Something on Before The Impact. (STINGER: ROH) It's all Violence Unlimited vs. The Foundation on this weekend's Ring Of Honor TV. Jay Lethal goes one on one with Homicide. Plus, Tony Deppen vs. Rhett Titus...and Brody King & Chris Dickinson vs. Jonathan Gresham & HOT SAUCE Tracy Williams. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Friday, October 22. (STINGER: WWE) The top pick on the second night of the WWE Draft went to Raw...and it's SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch. That creates an interesting situation...because the Raw Women's Champ Charlotte Flair is now part of the SmackDown roster. I'm sure it'll get sorted out somehow. Also, moved to Raw during the draft last night: Seth Rollins...Kevin Owens...the Street Profits...Finn Balor...Carmella...and Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson. New names joining the SmackDown roster: Sheamus...Shayna Baszler...the Viking Raiders...Ricochet...Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo...PLUS, a couple call-ups from NXT: Xia Li...and Ridge Holland. Even more picks were announced - and a number of teams were split up - during last night's episode of Raw Talk. Tegan Nox is going to Raw. Shotzi is staying on SmackDown. Tamina is moving to Raw, leaving Natalya on SmackDown. Jinder Mahal and Shanky are moving to SmackDown...but Veer is staying on Raw. Also announced as moving to Raw late last night: Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode...Liv Morgan...and Mia Yim. Some notable names that were NOT drafted: Asuka, Bayley and Eva Marie. Anyone not drafted is now considered a free agent. WWE has stated that the new rosters will go into effect the day after Crown Jewel on October 21st. Several new matches were announced for Crown Jewel on Monday. Big E has agreed to defend the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre. Those two men teamed up to beat Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode on last night's Raw. Randy Orton & Riddle will defend the Raw Tag Team Titles against AJ Styles & Omos. Plus, Goldberg vs. Bobby Lashley in a No Holds Barred Match. Getting back to last night's Raw… Damian Priest beat Jeff Hardy to retain the United States Championship. After the match, Austin Theory attacked Hardy. Rhea Ripley & Nikki A.S.H. are still the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. They beat the former champs Natalya & Tamina. Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston beat Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin. Shayna Baszler beat Dana Brooke. Humberto Carrillo & Angel Garza beat Mustafa Ali & Mansoor. The main event between Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair ended with Becky Lynch attacking Belair. But then, Sasha Banks ran out to take down Lynch. Tonight's NXT has LA Knight vs. Odyssey Jones. An 8-Man Tag: MSK teaming with Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen to take on the Grizzled Young Veterans and Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams. Plus, the debut of Tony D'Angelo. (STINGER: AEW) Tonight's AEW Dark has Eddie Kingston vs. Anthony Henry. Plus, Daniel Garcia is in singles action. On last night's AEW Dark: Elevation…The Pinnacle's Wardlow & Shawn Spears beat Marko Stunt & Fuego Del Sol. Wardlow pinned Stunt. Sonny Kiss got a win over KM...then, got the better of Joey Janela & Kayla Rossi...as Kiss evaded their attempted post-match attack. Also, Emi Sakura beat Skye Blue. Tonight's NWA Powerrr has an intriguing main event: Nick Aldis & Tim Storm vs. Aldis' Strictly Business cohorts Thom Lattimer & Chris Adonis. Plus, Kylie Ray vs. Lady Frost. (STINGER: New Japan) A major upset in New Japan's G1 Climax tournament on Monday. Chase Owens beat the IWGP United States Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi…pinning him with the package piledriver. Other results from the B Block on Monday: Kazuchika Okada kept his perfect start to the tournament going...pinning SANADA with the Rainmaker. Jeff Cobb also stayed unbeaten in this year's G1 with a win over Taichi... Plus, EVIL beat Tama Tonga...and Hirooki Goto finally got his first win in this year's G1 by beating YOSHI-HASHI. The tournament resumes on Thursday. (STINGER: ROH) On this past weekend's Ring Of Honor TV… The open challenge issued by the VLNCE UNLTD's Brody King, Chris Dickinson, Homicide & Tony Deppen was answered by the team of Danhausen, Demonic Flamita, PCO & Sledge. And VLNCE UNLTD prevailed. King pinned Sledge with a Ganso Bomb. Also, The Briscoes beat Alex Zayne & Taylor Rust. Rust took the pin. A pair of 3-Way matches will lead to a match to decide the challenger for Rok-C's ROH Women's Championship at Final Battle. (STINGER: Impact) The first match in Impact Wrestling's Digital Media Championship tournament premieres today on Impact Plus and Impact's “Ultimate Insider” YouTube channel. It'll be John Skyler vs. Zicky Dice. Rachael Ellering is now announced for the one-night tournament at Knockouts Knockdown. FOUR title matches are on the card. Bandido defends the ROH World Championship in a 4-Way Elimination Match against Brody King, EC3 and DEMONIC Flamita. Jonathan Gresham defends the Pure Title against Josh Woods. Shane Taylor Promotions puts the ROH 6-Man Titles on the line against La Faccion Ingobernable's Dragon Lee, Kenny King & Bestia Del Ring. Plus. Rok-C vs. Miranda Alize in the finals of the ROH Women's Title Tournament. Also announced for the main card… Matt Taven & Mike Bennett vs. The Briscoes. Jake Atlas vs. Taylor Rust in a clash of free agents in pro wrestling. The FREE Hour One pre-show starts at 7PM, and will feature the 15-man Honor Rumble for a future ROH World Title shot. (STINGER: WWE) A WWE Championship match is now being promoted for Monday night's Raw - Bobby Lashley defending against Randy Orton. That match was first announced last Monday...only it was supposed to happen at the Extreme Rules pay per view. The Demon returned on last night's SmackDown from Madison Square Garden. Finn Balor emerged at the end of the show for a staredown with Roman Reigns. Reigns' interference apparently saved The Usos' SmackDown Tag Titles in last night's main event. The Street Profits had to settle for a DQ win. Balor was not the only person to get in Reigns' face last night. Brock Lesnar showed up at the start of the show to confront Reigns and Paul Heyman. Lesnar asked Heyman why he didn't tell Reigns that Lesnar would be showing up at SummerSlam. Reigns didn't like the sound of that, and he and The Usos bailed on Heyman. Lesnar then demanded that Heyman accept his challenge for a title match against Reigns. Heyman refused, so Lesnar hoisted him up for an F5. But Reigns and The Usos returned to save Heyman. Heyman later denied knowing Lesnar was at SummerSlam. Also last night, Seth Rollins pinned Edge with The Stomp. Rollins set up the finish with a barrage of superkicks, and Edge was taken out on a stretcher after the match. KING Nakamura, Rick Boogs, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio & Big E beat Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, Otis & Apollo Crews. Big E pinned Zayn with the Big Ending. Trae Young from the NBA's Atlanta Hawks was in the corner of Zayn and the bad guys. (STINGER: AEW) On last night's AEW Rampage...Andrade El Idolo took advantage of interference by Chavo Guerrero and pinned Pac. But after the match, Andrade decked Chavo, apparently ending that relationship. Also last night, Brian Pillman Jr. beat Max Caster...and Ruby Soho, Kris Statlander & Riho beat the AEW Women's Champion Dr. Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter & Rebel. Rebel took the pin. (STINGER: New Japan) On last night's New Japan Strong... Ren Narita pinned Karl Fredericks with his bridging belly-to-belly suplex in the main event. After the match, Fred Rosser challenged Narita to face him in the coming weeks. Also, Clark Connors beat Alex Coghlin...and Kevin Knight beat The DKC. Back in Japan, the rightful holder of Dragon Gate's vacant Open the Brave Gate championship will be decided on Saturday...as former champs Keisuke Okuda & SB KENTo go one-on-one. Pro-Wrestling NOAH's N-1 Victory tournament begins on Sunday. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Saturday, September 11. Our next update comes your way MONDAY morning. Plus, we'll hear from Darby Allin and Sting for the first time since All Out. We haven't seen the last of Minoru Suzuki in AEW. He'll be back on next week's Dynamite, alongside Lance Archer. Archer tweeted they're “both furious about preferential hometown treatment” Jon Moxley got on this past Wednesday's Dynamite. Tony Khan tweeted Thursday he's been “talking to Lio Rush a lot recently about returning to AEW, and it feels like something that could happen in the near future.” The first set of tapings for AEW Dark at Universal Studios in Orlando will be held on Saturday. (STINGER: ROH) Ahead of Sunday night's Death Before Dishonor pay per view, the Ring Of Honor Tag Team Titles will be defended on this weekend's ROH TV. (STINGER: Impact) New matches made for Victory Road on last night's Impact Wrestling. We'll get to those, but first... New Japan's Hikuleo showed up on last night's Impact...as backup for fellow Bullet Club member Chris Bey. Unfortunately for Bey, that came after David Finlay had used a rollup to pin Bey in their match. Anyway, Hikuleo and Bey laid waste to Finlay and Juice Robinson after the match. It'll be Bey & Hikuleo vs. FinJuice at Victory Road. Also announced for Victory Road, Rosemary & Havok wil defend the Knockouts Tag Titles against Tasha Steelz & Savannah Evans. Rosemary pinned Steelz with a spear on last night's show, but after the match Steelz and Evans STOLE the Knockouts Tag Title belts. Also announced for Victory Road, Moose & W. Morrissey will take on Eddie Edwards & Sami Callihan. Moose had Morrissey in his corner as he beat Edwards in last night's main event. There was a huge melee after the match, which ended with Callihan rescuing Eddie & Alisha Edwards from Moose & Morrissey. Karl Anderson beat Rich Swann in a Bunkhouse Brawl match. Anderson finished Swann with a top rope Gun Stun ONTO a table. That's an important distinction because the table did NOT break. Maclin beat Petey Williams after TJP, Fallah Bahh, No Way AND his conga line strolled out to ringside and distracted Williams. Laredo Kid wrestled a match on last night's Before The Impact...and got a win over John Skyler. Major League Wrestling revealed the first five participants in the upcoming Opera Cup tournament: FILTHY Tom Lawlor, Matt Cross, Davey Richards, TJP and Calvin Tankman. The winner gets a shot at the Young Bucks' AEW Tag Titles inside a Steel Cage at All Out. Also on tonight's show AEW Champion Kenny Omega & Brandon Cutler vs. Christian Cage & Frankie Kazarian. Plus, Tay Conti vs. The Bunny. First it was the City of Chicago...then, Cook County, Illinois...Now, the entire state is under an indoor mask mandate...regardless of whether you're vaccinated or not. The statewide mandate goes into effect on September 5th - the same day as All Out. But as we mentioned, local indoor mask mandates are already in effect for the areas where AEW and other promotions are running shows next week. (STINGER: WWE) As of Thursday night, we have no matches announced for tonight's SmackDown...BUT we are being promised some follow-ups on the two big returns at Summerslam - Brock Lesnar and Becky Lynch, who is now the SmackDown Women's Champion. Rampage Brown KNOCKED OUT Joe Coffey to win the main event on Thursday's NXT UK. Kenny Williams beat Oliver Carter to advance in the Heritage Cup #1 Contender Tournament. Williams scored the deciding pinfall after he cracked Carter over the head with a steel drinking bottle. Also on the show, Aoife Valkyrie used a steel chair to put away Jinny in a No Disqualification Match. (STINGER: ROH) Dragon Lee defends the Ring Of Honor TV Title on this weekend's ROH TV...against Eli Isom. Also on this weekend's episode - two more quarterfinal matches in ROH's women's title tournament: Angelina Love vs. Max The Impaler...and Allysin Kay vs. Trish Adora. (STINGER: Impact) The Impact Tag Team Champs could be in some trouble. The Good Brothers lost a non-title match to Rich Swann & Willie Mack in the main event of last night's Impact Wrestling. Swann caught Karl Anderson with a roll-up for the pin. The Good Brothers beat up on Swann & Mack after the match. An in-ring confrontation involving Impact Champion Christian Cage, the #1 contender Ace Austin and Tommy Dreamer resulted in Scott D'Amore making a match between Austin and Dreamer for next week's Impact...and if Dreamer wins, he gets added to the Impact World Title match at Victory Road. Also last night, Chris Sabin pinned Sami Callihan… Moose took down both men after the match, and was set to bring a baseball bat down on a steel chair sitting across Callihan's neck...but Eddie Edwards ran out to save Callihan. Chris Bey used a roll-up and a handful of tights to pin David Finlay. Madison Rayne, Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb With A K won a 3-on-1 match over Taylor Wilde. Jordynne Grace & Rachael Ellering cut off the post-match beatdown. That sets up a 6-person tag for next week. Also next week, Matt Cardona & Chelsea Greene are going to challenge Rohit Raju & Shera. Some new names are now announced for the NWA's Empowerrr pay per view on Saturday, including “90 Day Fiance” star Paola Mayfield, who will be facing Kenzie Paige. Another match now announced for Empowerrr: Christie Jaynes vs. Skye Blue. Major League Wrestling's Court Bauer tweeted Thursday that an MLW Women's Championship is “in the works”. As for possible contenders, MLW announced Nicole Savoy will debut for the league at its show in Philadelphia on October 2nd. (STINGER: New Japan) Hiromu Takehashi's comeback match is part of New Japan's show at Korakuen Hall on Friday. (STINGER: AEW) 14,000 fans - the largest crowd to ever gather for an AEW event - will pack Chicago's United Center tonight. It's AEW Rampage: The First Dance. There's no doubt why all of those fans will be there. They are expecting to see CM Punk return to major professional wrestling for the first time in more than seven and a half years. AEW has confirmed NOTHING regarding Punk. BUT Tony Khan tweeted Thursday that a new era in AEW will begin tonight...and that “excitement from the most anticipated announcement in AEW history at Rampage...will build up through All Out”. There are some matches scheduled for tonight's show. The first match in the four-team Tag Team Eliminator Tournament: Jurassic Express vs. Private Party. Plus, Jade Cargill vs. Kiera Hogan...and Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia. Garcia got a submission win over Matt Sydal on a special episode of Dark: Elevation that premiered Thursday night. Also on Thursday, AEW officially announced the signing of the tag team 2.0 - Matt Lee & Jeff Parker. (STINGER: Impact) The new Impact World Champion Christian Cage defends the title for the first time TONIGHT at Emergence. It's an Impact Plus exclusive show...starting at 7PM Eastern. Christian's challenger will be Brian Myers. Christian will NOT defend the TNA Championship. He retired the title on last night's Impact Wrestling. The next #1 contender for the Impact World Championship will be decided tonight in a 4-Way: Chris Sabin vs. Sami Callihan vs. Moose vs. Ace Austin. On last night's Impact...Sabin & Callihan beat Moose & Austin. Austin took the pin. Also on tonight's Emergence show...Josh Alexander defends the X-Division Title against Jake Something. The Good Brothers put their Impact Tag Titles on the line in a 3-Way against Violent By Design...and Rich Swann & Willie Mack. VBD's Joe Doering beat Doc Gallows in last night's Impact main event. At one point, Gallows drove Doering and himself through the floor of the entrance stage. But that was not the end. Doering rallied and pinned Gallows. Madison Rayne makes her in-ring return tonight against Taylor Wilde. Rayne announced her retirement back in January. Also tonight, Matt Cardona vs. Rohit Raju… Petey Williams vs. Steve Maclin… Knockouts Champ Deonna Purrazzo & Matthew Rehwoldt (ray-walt) vs. Melina & Trey Miguel… And Tasha Steelz, Savannah Evans, Fallah Bahh and No Way vs. Decay. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor is at Philadelphia's 2300 Arena tonight for the first of two Glory By Honor shows on back-to-back nights. Both shows will steam on Honor Club. Tonight's main event has Bandido defending the ROH World Title against Flip Gordon. Plus, Jonathan Gresham defends the Pure Title against fellow Foundation member Rhett Titus. (STINGER: WWE) As of Thursday night, WWE has yet to announce anything for tonight's SmackDown. It's the final stop before SummerSlam on Saturday night. WWE hosted a tryout in Las Vegas on Thursday. Afterward, Triple H told the invited media on hand that more than a dozen people were signed. WWE President Nick Khan was asked what the chances are that WWE will remain a standalone company in the next year. (Nick Khan WWE Future) That's Nick Khan speaking on “Recode Media with Peter Kafka”. On Thursday's NXT UK… Pretty Deadly had to cheat to do it...but they held onto their NXT UK Tag Titles against Moustache Mountain. Meiko Satomura submitted Stevie Turner to retain the NXT UK Women's Championship… Dani Luna beat Isla Dawn...but Dawn did manage to snatch a piece of Luna's hair so...little victories. Also, Saxon Huxley beat Eddie Dennis. The NWA announced Thursday that Ric Flair will appear on its 73rd Anniversary pay per view on August 29th. AEW's Diamante has been added to the talent lineup for the Empowerrr pay per view on August 28th. (STINGER: New Japan) Some fresh faces on tonight's New Japan Strong. Daniel Garcia makes his New Japan debut...teaming up with Fred Rosser & Fred Yehi against TJP, Clark Connors & Ren Narita. Also, Matt Morris - better known lately as Matthew Rehwoldt - has his first match in New Japan...against Alex Coghlin. Tonight's main event is Brody King & Chris Dickinson vs. The West Coast Wrecking Crew. Brody King told Wrestling Inc. that he tested positive for COVID-19...and that caused him to miss last weekend's New Japan Resurgence event. Minoru Suzuki will be a busy man during his visit to the U.S. this fall. Not only is he working dates for New Japan. He's also now announced for FOUR GCW shows across September and October. A special welcome to those of you listening on OccupyProWrestling.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. (STINGER: WWE) In case there was any doubt, WWE made it official on Monday. Raquel Gonzalez will defend her NXT Women's Championship against Dakota Kai at TakeOver 36 on August 22nd. A segment involving those two is being promoted for tonight's NXT. Also announced for tonight…the NXT Breakout Tournament semifinal between Trey Baxter and Odyssey Jones...plus, Ember Moon vs. Sarray. There's a new title match set for SummerSlam. Sheamus will defend the United States Championship against Damian Priest. Sheamus pinned Ricochet with a Brogue Kick in a non-title match on last night's Raw. Priest pinned John Morrison with the Reckoning for the second straight week. After the match, The Miz got out of his wheelchair to shove Priest...and then sprinted to the back. So, I guess his knee is feeling better. Randy Orton returned to Raw last night. He pinned one half of the Raw Tag Champs AJ Styles with an RKO. After the match, Orton shared a hug with Riddle...before he hit him with an RKO too. Lilly was in Alexa Bliss' corner for a match against Doudrop...and the presence of this doll really paid off. Lilly ended up on the top turnbuckle...and when Doudrop spotted it...there was a cutaway close-up shot of Lilly's face...and Lilly winked at Doudrop. Alexa took advantage of that distraction and rolled up Doudrop for the pin. A non-title match between Raw Women's Champ Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley ended with Charlotte Flair attacking both women. NXT Champion Karrion Kross submitted Jeff Hardy with his Kross Jacket chokehold to win a non-title match and avenge his loss to Hardy in his Raw debut weeks ago.. Baron Corbin showed up on Raw...but left with little more than another loss at the hands of Drew McIntyre. T-Bar pinned Mustafa Ali with Feast Your Eyes. A vignette showed Elias tossing his guitar into a fire...and declaring “Elias is dead”. (STINGER: AEW) Fans attending AEW's shows in Pittsburgh this week will be required to wear masks...regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not. An email to ticket holders laid out the University of Pittsburgh's guidelines for the Petersen Events Center, which will host Wednesday's Dynamite and the premiere episode of Rampage on Friday night. The AEW Champion Kenny Omega and the tag champs the Young Bucks will wrestle on Wednesday's Dynamite. They'll team up against the Sydal brothers and Dante Martin. Tonight's Dark is promoting at least 18 matches…including Bear Boulder's first match since last April. He'll reunite with Bear Bronson as Bear Country to take on Chaos Project. Also on tonight's Dark...Alan “5” Angels vs. QT Marshall...Private Party vs. Chuck Taylor & Wheeler Yuta...and the Lucha Brothers vs. Cezar Bononi & JD Drake. Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss were set for a tag match on last night's Elevation - but Janela attacked Kiss during their entrance. I guess that team is done for good. There was also an upset on the show. Captain Shawn Dean pinned PRETTY Peter Avalon with a powerbomb/backstabber combo that he calls The Salute.. That's only the second singles win in AEW this year for Dean. The Lucha Brothers beat Matt & Mike Sydal in the main event. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan is taking a break from the Super Junior Tag League on its show Tuesday...but there is a NEVER 6-Man Tag Title match in the main event. Two teams remain unbeaten in the Super Junior Tag League after Monday's show. Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo beat their Bullet Club cohorts Gedo & Dick Togo...and Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask handed the first tournament loss to El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru. Roppongi 3K is still looking for its first win of the tournament. They were beaten by Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato. The loss eliminates Roppongi 3K from tournament contention. A day after he won Dragon Gate's Open The Brave Gate Title, SB KENTo was STRIPPED of the title. The decision came down after SB KENTo's first defense against Keisuke Okuda ended in a “no contest”. Those two will meet again for the vacant title on September 11th. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor broadcaster Quinn McKay finally got the better of Mandy Leon. She beat her on this past weekend's ROH TV to advance in the women's title tournament. In another first-round match in the tournament, Trish Adora used the Cattle Mutilation to submit Marti Belle. The main event saw ROH Champ Bandido & Rey Horus beat Brody King & Chris Dickinson. Bandido pinned Dickinson with the 21 Plex. La Faccion Ingobernable attacked Bandido after the match...and Rush took Bandido's mask. The NWA added two names to a battle royal on its Empowerrr pay per view later this month: Debbie Malenko and Bianca Carelli. Malenko was a champion in All Japan during the 90's before a knee injury effectively ended her career. Carelli is the daughter of Santino Marella. The winner of the battle royal gets a shot at the NWA Women's Title the following day on the NWA's 73rd Anniversary pay per view. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Tuesday, August 10th. (STINGER: WWE) It sounds like there is some validity to reports over the weekend of possible changes tp WWE's NXT brand and developmental system. The reports surfaced following the releases of thirteen performers last Friday. One of those released wrestlers posted a statement over the weekend...and alluded to what's happening behind the scenes. Anthony Henry - who wrestled as Asher Hale in WWE - wrote, “There is a shift happening, within the company, and I no longer fit what they are looking for.” Henry added that he was wrestling through an injury - two herniated disks - during most of his 6-month run in WWE. Another of those wrestlers released Friday, Bronson Reed, posted a message for his fans on social media Sunday night. The Australian super-heavyweight talked about his reaction to being let go. (Reed WWE Release Reax) That clip from the video posted to Bronson Reed's Twitter. As of Sunday night, no matches are announced for tonight's Raw...but we are being promised separate appearances by WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and Charlotte Flair. John Cena is being advertised for live fans tonight in Orlando, but there's guarantee he'll appear while Raw is on the air. (STINGER: New Japan) There are three unbeaten teams...and three winless teams...after the first weekend of New Japan's Super Junior Tag League. Two of the unbeatens go head-to-head on Monday's show...when Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask face El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru. Also on Monday's show, two teams look for their first win in the tournament...when Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato go up against SHO & YOH. Plus, an ALL Bullet Club showdown, the unbeaten team of Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo vs. the winless pairing of Gedo & Dick Togo Tuesday's Summer Struggle show will provide a break from the Super Junior Tag League...for a main event NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Title Match. Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI defend against Tetsuya Naito, SANADA & BUSHI. New Japan announced over the weekend that all of its wrestlers and staff residing in Japan have now received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. A new match announced for Resurgence in Los Angeles coming up on Saturday. It's 10-man tag. Strong Openweight Champ FILTHY Tom Lawlor, JR Kratos, Jorel Nelson, Royce Isaacs & Danny Limelight vs. Lio Rush, Brody King, Chris Dickinson, Fred Yehi & Yuya Uemura. (STINGER: WWE) Roman Reigns' road to a seemingly inevitable SummerSlam showdown with John Cena...took an unexpected detour on last night's SmackDown. Cena opened the show and demanded Reigns answer his challenge for the match. Reigns didn't show up to face Cena in person. But Reigns eventually showed up at the end of the show...and announced that the answer is “no”. Cena was not present for this. But Finn Balor entered...and issued his own challenge. This time, Reigns agreed...and that's when the show faded to black. Earlier, Balor pinned Sami Zayn with the Coup de Grace. Part of last night's SmackDown was broadcast from the Rolling Loud hip-hop festival in Miami. A massive crowd of music fans got to see two matches. Bianca Belair beat Carmella to retain the SmackDown Women's Championship...and Angelo Dawkins beat Chad Gable. WWE had been promoting Big E vs. Apollo Crews as the second match at Rolling Loud. Instead, those two were in Cleveland...for a segment that also included Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura - with Rick Boogs - and Cesaro...who said he wants a shot at Crews' Intercontinental Title. Toni Storm's SmackDown debut was a win over Zelina Vega. She pinned her with her new Storm One finisher. WWE announced it will be running a pay per view on New Year's Day - that's Saturday, January 1st - at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan has a major show on Sunday. It's Wrestle Grand Slam in Tokyo Dome. But as of Friday night, there's still no guarantee that Kota Ibushi will be there for his main event title match. Ibushi is scheduled to challenge Shingo Takagi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. But Ibushi is recovering from aspiration pneumonia. He's been out of action since he was pulled from a show on July 11th. New Japan is running a Summer Struggle show on Saturday. There could be an announcement during that show. Here's what else is on Sunday's Wrestle Grand Slam card. Tetsuya Naito & SANADA defend the IWGP Tag Titles against the former champs Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr. The Champs stood tall on Friday's Summer Struggle show. Rocky Romero & Ryusuke Taguchi challenge Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo for the junior tag titles. Plus, Toru Yano defends the provisional KOPW 2021 Title in the New Japan Ranbo. It's Good Brothers vs. King & Dickinson on next week's Strong. FILTHY Tom Lawlor is still the Strong Openweight Champion. He choked out Satoshi Kojima after interference by JR Kratos. Lawlor's post-match interview backstage was interrupted by...Lio Rush, who wants the next shot at the title. (STINGER: AEW) AEW Women's Champion Dr. Britt Baker revealed Friday that she has a broken right wrist. She apparently sustained the injury during her title defense on Wednesday. Listen and subscribe at www.JustProWrestlingNews.com I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Saturday, July 10, 2021. A special welcome to those of you listening on WrestleMap.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. We'll get into the big events coming up this weekend in a moment, but first... (STINGER: WWE) WWE has lost a top star to a major injury. Bayley will be out of action for approximately 9 months after hurting her knee. WWE said it happened during a training session on Friday. Bayley was set to challenge Bianca Belair for the Smackdown Women's Championship in an “I Quit” Match at Money In The Bank. Obviously, that will NOT be happening now. Instead, Belair's title defense will be moved up to next Friday's SmackDown - the first in front of LIVE fans since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her challenger will be Carmella. Now...Carmella was set to be in the women's Money In The Bank ladder match. But she's now out of that match and will be replaced by Liv Morgan. The final two entrants in the men's Money In The Bank match were decided on last night's SmackDown. Seth Rollins qualified by pinning a bloodied Cesaro...and Shinsuke Nakamura is also in after he scored another win over Baron Corbin. At least three women from NXT are joining the SmackDown roster. Shotzi Blackheat & Tegan Nox debuted last night - announced simply as “Shotzi & Nox”. They were the surprise opponents for the WWE Women's Tag Champs Natalya & Tamina...and they got the win. Shotzi pinned Natalya after a senton from the top rope. The third call-up is Toni Storm. A hype video last night announced that she's “coming soon”. Jimmy Uso did appear on last night's SmackDown. He and brother Jey took a beating from Edge and the returning Rey and Dominik Mysterio at the end of the show. Jimmy Uso was arrested and charged with D.U.I. earlier this week. A formal arraignment is scheduled for later this month. We now know that WWE's Extreme Rules pay per view will be held on Sunday, September 26th...at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Major League Wrestling is back in front of live fans Saturday night at the 2300 Arena in bucolic and pastoral South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It's Battle Riot III. The Battle Riot match is a 40-man battle royal with wrestlers entering in 60-second intervals. Eliminations are by pinfall, submission or going out over the top rope to the floor. The winner gets a shot at the MLW Heavyweight Championship held by Jacob Fatu. Davey Richards is gonna make his MLW debut. He'll compete in the Riot match...and he'll also go one-on-one against TJP. Richard Holliday will defend the Carribean Championship against King Muertes. Cesar Duran - the former Dario Cueto - will be in attendance in Philly. Plus, a Bunkhouse Brawl between the Von Erichs and Team Filthy's Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku. The show will be broadcast on BeIN SPORTS starting at 10PM Eastern. (STINGER: ROH) On Sunday, Ring Of Honor presents its Best In The World pay per view. Rush defends the ROH World Championship against Bandido. Jonathan Gresham puts the Pure Title on the line against Mike Bennett. Dragon Lee challenges Tony Deppens for the TV Title. HOT SAUCE Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus defend the ROH Tag Titles in a Fight Without Honor against Chris Dickinson & Homicide. Shane Taylor Promotions defend the 6-Man Tag Titles against the makeshift team of Dalton Castle, Dak Draper & Eli Isom. Plus, Brody King vs. Jay Lethal...EC3 vs. Flip Gordon...The Briscoes vs. Brian Johnson & PJ Black...and Josh Woods vs. Silas Young in a Last Man Standing Match. There will also be TWO matches on Hour One of Best In The World, which will be free to watch on multiple platforms: DEMONIC Flamita vs. Rey Horus...and PCO & Danhausen vs. The Bouncers. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan confirmed Friday that its Wrestle Grand Slam show in Tokyo Dome will go on as scheduled on Sunday, July 25th...despite a new COVID-19 related state of emergency in Tokyo. The declaration will mean that New Japan will cease ticket sales for the show on July 11th. New Japan's Summer Struggle tour begins Saturday...with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title being defended in the main event. Sunday's show has the tag titles being defended. Tetsuya Naito & SANADA will challenge Taichi & Zach Sabre Jr. Plus, KENTA returns to action. He'll tag with Yujiro Takehashi against Hiroshi Tanahashi & Yota Tsuji. Impact's X-Division Champion Josh Alexander was on last night's New Japan Strong. He pinned Rocky Romero in the main event. Backstage, Alexander declared he's not leaving New Japan anytime soon. Pro-Wrestling NOAH has a big show on Sunday...with Naomichi Marufuji defending the GHC Heavyweight Title in the main event against Takashi Sugiura. (STINGER: AEW) AEW kicks off a big weekend tonight...with a LIVE Friday night Dynamite...starting at 10PM Eastern. The matches announced for the show included Miro's first defense of the TNT Championship...against Top Flight's Dante Martin. Also tonight...Hangman Page vs. Joey Janela...Darby Allin vs. Cezar Bononi...and Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page vs. Dark Order's Evil Uno and Stu Grayson. Jade Cargill will issue an open challenge. Cody Rhodes and Anthony Ogogo will meet for a weigh-in ahead of their match at Double Or Nothing. Orange Cassidy will respond to Kenny Omega's offer to defer his shot at the AEW Championship. There will also be a Celebration Of The Inner Circle, hosted by Eric Bischoff...AND a celebration of Hikaru Shida's one-year reign as AEW Women's Champion. While speaking with the media on Thursday, Cody Rhodes strongly hinted at the creation of a new championship in AEW. (Cody On New Titles) That clip from Thursday's media briefing with Cody. Cody also denied recent rumors of in-fighting among the EVP's of AEW. (STINGER: WWE) Tonight's SmackDown is promoting the first-ever meeting between The Usos...and the Street Profits. On Thursday's NXT UK...Trent Seven pinned Sam Gradwell with a burning hammer in the main event. Also, Nathan Frazer pinned Sha Samuels with a frog splash. Meiko Satomura's SECOND chance at Kay Lee Ray's UK women's championship is now set for the June 10th episode of NXT UK. Fightful is reporting WWE has released Tom Phillips, who served as lead announcer for just about every WWE brand during his time with the company. (STINGER: ROH) This weekend's Ring of Honor TV has a big EIGHT-man tag team main event. The Foundation - Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham, HOT SAUCE Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus - vs. Violence Unlimited - Brody King, Tony Deppen, Chris Dickinson & Homicide. Also on the show, Joe Keys vs. LSG. The winner gets a spot in the rankings for either the Pure Title or the TV Title. On ROH's YouTube Thursday...the third clash between O'Shay Edwards and Sledge...ended with Edwards delivering an Air Raid Crash from the second rope through a pair of tables...getting the pin and the win. (STINGER: Impact) New matches announced for Impact's Against All Odds show. Satoshi Kojima - who's going simply as “Kojima” in Impact - will face Joe Doering. Kojima made his Impact debut last night...at the expense of Violent By Design - interrupting their in-ring promo...and challenging Doering. Deonna Purrazzo will defend the Knockouts Championship at Against All Odds...against Rosemary. She pinned Purrazzo to win a 10-Woman Tag last night. There were a lot of moving parts in this one. Taylor Wilde was nowhere to be found before the match...so Jordynne Grace took her place...leading to Grace and Rachael Ellering brawling with Fire ‘n Flava. That's setting up a Knockouts Tag Title rematch on next week's Impact. Fire n' Flava defending against Ellering and Grace. Josh Alexander will defend his X-Division Championship against TJP...in the first-ever 60-Minute Iron Man Match in Impact's history. It will happen next Thursday...on BEFORE The Impact. The match was made after TJP and Fallah Bahh beat Alexander and Petey Williams on last night's Impact.. TJP pinned Alexander with the Mamba Splash. The Good Brothers beat Moose & Sami Callihan in last night's main event. Moose and Callihan couldn't get on the same page...and Moose eventually left Callihan alone to take a Magic Killer and the pin. Moose beat up on Callihan after the match. It was announced that Matt Cardona will be out of action for up to 12 weeks due to a broken orbital bone. Josh Matthews was back on commentary for last night's show, instead of Matt Striker. (STINGER: New Japan) Tonight's New Japan Strong will see FILTHY Tom Lawlor's first defense of the Strong Openweight Championship. He'll be challenged by Chris Dickinson. Also on the show, El Phantasmo vs. Wheeler Yuta. Round 2 of MLW's Open Draft confirmed the aforementioned Tom Lawlor, King Mo and Gringo Loco are all staying with the league for its return to live touring this summer. Also, a new signee was revealed - “The Suplex Assassin” Alex Kane. He's being aligned with King Mo's American Top Team. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Friday, May 28. Check out the new episode right now wherever you get your podcasts. (STINGER: WWE) Just over a month into his tenure as the lead announcer on Raw, Adnan Virk is leaving WWE. The company said they “mutually agreed to part ways.” Virk later offered a better explanation. He tweeted that weekly travel and his other jobs were a grind for him and his family. There's no word yet on who will replace Virk at the commentary desk on Raw. WWE returns to live touring in July...and tickets to the first three announced events go on sale this morning at 11 a.m. Eastern - those are the July 16th SmackDown in Houston...Money In The Bank the following Sunday in Fort Worth...and Raw the night after in Dallas. Karrion Kross is still the NXT Champion. He choked out Finn Balor in the main event of last night's show. We should learn next week who Kross' next challenger will be. GM William Regal announced a 3-Way #1 Contender Match - Kyle O'Reilly vs. Pete Dunne vs. Johnny Gargano. The winner gets the shot at Kross at NXT TakeOver: In Your House. Dunne spoiled Bobby Fish's return from injury last night. He pinned Fish with the Bitter End. Oney Lorcan beat up on Fish after the match. Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon beat the NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai. Moon pinned Kai...but Gonzalez laid out both Moon and Blackheart after the match. Mercedes Martinez beat Zayda Ramier. But her post-match celebration was interrupted by smoke and lighting effects. When it was over...Martinez had a mark on her hand - implying she's being targeted by Tian Sha. Santos Escobar made it clear that he wants to be the first to challenge the new North American Champion Bronson Reed. Nick Aldis will defend his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against...Trevor Murdoch. That'll happen at the next NWA pay per view “When Our Shadows Fall”...coming up on June 6th. Murdoch earned the title shot by winning a battle royal on last night's Powerrr. Aldis' cohort Chris Adonis relinquished the NWA National Title so he could enter the battle royal - but he ended up being the last man eliminated by Murdoch. The heavily hyped showdown between Thunder Rosa and Kamille...ended in a draw. So, that's good news for Rosa. The result means she can continue to wrestle outside the NWA. BUT we still do not have a #1 contender for Serena Deeb's Women's Championship. Aron Stevens & Kratos beat Jax Dane & Crimson to retain their NWA Tag Titles after a mystery man attacked Crimson. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor unveiled the field and the brackets for its upcoming Survival Of The Fittest tournament. The first-round matches on the left side of the bracket are: Rey Horus vs. Flamita...Eli Isom vs. Dak Draper...and Bandido vs. Bateman. On the right side of the bracket, the first-round matches are: Brian Johnson vs. Sledge...Chris Dickinson vs. O'Shay Edwards...and Danhausen vs. Rhett Titus. The winners all advance to a 6-Way Elimination Match...and the winner gets a shot at the ROH World Championship. The tournament begins in two weeks. (STINGER: AEW) The simmering issues between Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss may be coming to a head. Kiss was beaten by Brian Cage in the main event of last night's AEW Dark. After the match, Hook beat up Kiss some more. Janela did not intervene. He just stared blankly for a bit and then walked away. Earlier, Janela pinned Bear Bronson with an elbow drop from the top rope. Also on the show...Big Swole & KiLynn King beat The Bunny & Madi Wrenkowski. Swole pinned Wrenkowski with her rolling forearm. A reminder: There's no Dynamite tonight. That's pushed back to Friday due to the NBA Playoffs. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Wednesday, May 26. Rey Mysterio used a small package to pin Dolph Ziggler. King Corbin reversed an armbar to pin Shinsuke Nakamura. After the match, Nakamura STOLE King Corbin's CROWN! (STINGER: New Japan) Team Filthy won an 8-Man Elimination Tag in the main event of last night's New Japan Strong. It was Chris Dickinson sealing the win for Team Filthy. After the match, Team Filthy TURNED on Dickinson. This is in retaliation for Dickinson publicly challenging Lawlor to defend the Strong Openweight Championship against him. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan is postponing its two major stadium shows scheduled for this month...following the extension of a COVID-19 related state of emergency in parts of Japan. New Japan said new dates for the shows at Yokohama Stadium and Tokyo Dome “are currently being finalized.” On last night's New Japan Strong...a preview of Jon Moxley and Yuji Nagata's IWGP U.S. Title clash. Moxley and Chris Dickinson beat Nagata and Ren Narita. Mox pinned Narita with the Death Rider. After the match, Nagata took down Mox with his signature crossface. Also last night, Barrett Brown and Adrian Quest overcame their dysfunctional nature just long enough to win the opening tag match. But after the match, Brown turned on Quest...and laid him out. (STINGER: WWE) TWO new matches announced for WrestleMania Backlash...including Roman Reigns defending his Universal Title against Cesaro. Cesaro earned his shot with a win over Seth Rollins on last night's SmackDown. Rollins was undone by a superkick from JIMMY Uso. Jimmy was reintroduced to SmackDown by Reigns at the beginning of the show...but things between them deteriorated quickly. Jimmy later confronted Reigns for his treatment of Jimmy's brother Jey. The show ended with Cesaro attacking Reigns. Jey Uso rushed to Reigns' aid...but Jimmy was far less enthusiastic about helping out. THe other title match added to Backlash yesterday is Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode defending their SmackDown Tag Titles against Rey & Dominik Mysterio. WWE had announced a match for last night's SmackDown between Rey and Ziggler - but once everyone got to the ring, Dominik insisted that HE take on Dolph...and Dominik got the pin after surprising Dolph with a small package. Reginald was in another intergender match last night - this one against Tamina. She appeared to have the match won, but Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler jumped in the ring for the disqualification. Jax and Baszler will defend their WWE Women's Tag Titles against Natalya & Tamina on next Friday's SmackDown. Carmella submitted Ruby Riott...and Apollo Crews, Otis, Chad Gable, King Corbin & Sami Zayn beat Big E, Shinsuke Nakamura, The Street Profits & Kevin Owens. (STINGER: Impact) Jordynne Grace has re-signed with Impact Wrestling. She had stated that her previous contract was set to run out on May 1st. There will be some new names on tonight's 205 Live: Ari Sterling - the former Alex Zayne...and Ikemen Jiro. Amir Jordan is LEAVING NXT UK. That's the result of his loss to Kenny Williams on Thursday's show. A match between Ilja Dragunov and Dave Mastiff ended in a referee stoppage after an elbow from Dragunov struck Mastiff square in the nose. Also, Trent Seven pinned Saxon Huxley, thanks in part to a timely distraction from Sam Gradwell. Next week, there will be a #1 Contender's Gauntlet Match for a shot at Kay Lee Ray's UK Women's title: Isla Dawn vs. Jinny vs. Xia Brookside vs. Emilia McKenzie vs. Dani Luna. Another wrestler, Amale (uh-MEL), was not happy she was left out of this. She attacked Brookside during Thursday's show. He's tagging with Chris Dickinson against the team of Yuji Nagata and Ren Narita. Mox will defend his IWGP United States Championship against Nagata on next Wednesday's AEW Dynamite. The COVID-19 state of emergency in Japan is being extended...and expanded. The country's Prime Minister is pushing the end date through the end of May. The state of emergency covers areas in and around Tokyo and Osaka...with Aichi and Fukuoka now added to the list. Some of the restrictions on businesses are expected to be eased. The encouraging news for pro wrestling companies in Japan is that the ban on spectators at large sporting events will be scaled back. Attendance will be capped at 5,000 people - or 50% of the venue's capacity. That would be good news for pro wrestling companies, including New Japan - which has a major show in Tokyo Dome on May 29th. Salina de la Renta is leaving MLW. Her final appearance was on last Wednesday's Fusion...when she crossed paths on-screen with the “El Jefe” of Azteca Underground. The man known in Lucha Underground as “Dario Cueto” will get a new name, according to MLW's Court Bauer. (Bauer On Cueto Name) Bauer speaking with Post Wrestling's John Pollock.
