EBM there are 4 major eras of EBM. starting in the 1970s and running up to modern times. the term was coined by ralf hutter of kraftwerk in november 1977. it was more used to explain the sound of their upcoming album the man-machine. body music was used in 1972 to describe the amplified beat and art rock component of hard rock bands like led zeppelin, black sabbath. DAF would use "korpermusik" to describe the music of their danceable electronic punk sound. it was also used by front 242 in 1984 to describe the music of the ep from that year "no comment". using that along their preferred descrption "electro disco terrorist music". Tim 1: Front 242 - Commando Mix reason: arguably the original "EBM" song. this track is one of the first singles that 242 ever put out. 2: Front Line Assembly - Right Hand of Heaven reason: fla was instrumental in the development of ebm, mixing elements of industrial with synthpop. 3: poupee fabrikk - die jugend reason: SAMPLES. wow did a lot of ebm bands use samples from movies, historic radio and televised speeches, and tv. this band was out of sweeden, and i had never heard of them prior to putting this show together, so i had to research them. i am glad that i did! 4: 2nd communication - locked in truth reason: j-ebm? i was kind of amazed to hear that even some folks in japan put some ebm out. i was expecting it to be poofy (think jpop?) but needless to say i was pleasantly surprised 5: schnitt acht - subhuman reason: just like a couple of the bands on here i had never heard of this band prior to putting this show together. i think i had heard this song in clubs in the past, but it has been a very long time. AJ: 1: Kraftwerk - Trans Europa Express reason: The term electronic body music was coined by Ralf Hütter of the German electronic band Kraftwerk in November 1977 2: Rhythm Device - Acid Rock reason: In the late 80's and early 90's, a slow, but rhythmic and repetitive "New Beat" was coming out of Belgium. It sounded like evil punk disco, and was the forebear of EBM. Rhythm Device's "Acid Rock" is an excellent example. 3: Poesie Noire - Pity for the Self reason: Poésie Noire are a Belgian band that rose to prominence in the mid-'80s. Their Belgian origins and tendency to develop a goth-oriented, synthetic, gloomy universe with low-pitched voices - Poésie Noire could translate by "Black/Dark Poetry" - had them categorized as EBM such as other Belgian members of the 1980s electronic music scene. 4: the neon judgement - chinese black reason: The Neon Judgement is a Belgian new wave band, formed in Leuven in 1981 by Dirk Da Davo (keyboards/vocalist) and TB Frank (guitarist/vocalist). They have often been cited, alongside fellow Belgian band Front 242, as the pioneers of electronic body music... 5: nitzer ebb - muderous reason: Nitzer Ebb are a British EBM group formed in 1982 by Essex school friends Vaughan "Bon" Harris (Programming, Synths), Douglas McCarthy (Vocals), and David Gooday (Drums). The band at the time was inspired by the post-punk scene and specifically acts like Siouxsie and the Banshees, Killing Joke and Bauhaus who were having a big influence on them, in some ways stylistically but also in the energy that they gave...
