Mit dabei sind Die Haut, The Cure, The Sisters Of Mercy, New Order, Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Killing Joke, And Also The Trees, Yello, Simple Minds und noch viele andere.
The Clayface movie is coming and we've got you covered with everything you need to know. This week we're digging into the vault. Zach and Mike break down the full history of Clayface, all the versions, all the clay. Then dive straight into Clayface: One Bad Day, the 2023 DC one-shot that might just be the blueprint for what the movie does with this character.First: how do you go from Basil Karlo, a horror movie actor driven to murder by a remake of his greatest film, to Matt Hagan, to Preston Payne, to the shapeshifting monster we know today? Zach walks Mike through the whole muddy lineage. Mike's prior Clayface knowledge: a talking blob from a kids' show called Gigglesnort Hotel. We start there. Then: Clayface One Bad Day. A struggling Hollywood actor named Clay Pots lands his dream role and loses himself completely in the process. What follows is one of the darkest, most quietly tragic Clayface stories ever told. He suffocates a man, steals his face, walks onto a movie set, and spends the entire issue auditioning for a role he's already taken. The ending, with ten figures watching him deliver his monologue one final time, hits harder than it has any right to.Also in this episode:- The full Clayface family tree — Basil, Matt, Preston, Sondra, Cassius, and more- The Killing Joke connection hidden in the One Bad Day one-shot- Whether the Batman: Killing Joke animated movie deserved the extra 45 minutes (it did not)- Zach getting accused of being a porch pirate while retrieving his own DoorDash orderCheck out Feat of Clay.

Movie Theater Time Machine #podcast ends the month with a #review of The Killing Joke (2016). For more reviews, visit movietheatertimemachine.com
In this episode, Martin Atkins (Public Image Ltd., Killing Joke, Pigface) joins the show from his Post-Punk and Industrial Music Museum to discuss the upcoming 45th-anniversary recreation of Public Image Ltd.'s third album, The Flowers of Romance. On Saturday, April 11, Martin returns to Reggie's in Chicago with a "murderers' row" of talent, including Chris Connelly, Robert Byrne, Leyla Royale, Orville Kline, Alicia Gaines, and Alan Lake, to bring the stark, experimental, and percussive record back to the stage. Martin reflects on the "Music Concrete" nature of the original recording sessions, which were defined by improvisation and disregard for traditional rock structures. He shares fascinating stories behind the album's signature sounds, such as the ticking of a Mickey Mouse watch used for the track "Four Enclosed Walls" and the CO2 fire extinguisher that opens "Under the House". He also sheds light on the band's internal dynamics during that era, including the departure of bassist Jah Wobble and Keith Levene's intense focus on video game. The conversation also covers Martin's recent performance of Killing Joke's "Extremities" and his complex, perhaps a bit strained, relationship with John Lydon. Martin discusses how his museum has become a surprising hub for younger generations who are just now discovering the textures and stories of the post-punk movement. I adore Martin, respect his career and business mind, and always love talking with him. Hope you enjoy the chat, and to see you at Reggie's! ### This episode is brought to you by Exploding House Printing. This week on Panel Chewing Pick of the Week, Steve and Jarrod dive into another stack of comics and break down the books that stood out from the week's pull list. Before jumping into the comics, the conversation kicks off with a nostalgic look at the comic-magazine era. From Wizard Magazine to Comic Shop News, the hosts reflect on the lost culture of comic journalism and how the internet—and now social media—has changed how fans interact with the hobby. Then it's time to talk comics.Highlights this week include discussions on new releases like Absolute Superman #17, Astral Quantum #2, and Save Now #3, along with the finale of a recent Detective Comics arc and the latest chapter of Rick Remender's The Sacrificers. The guys also dig into indie titles, time-travel chaos, noir mysteries, and the continuing brilliance of Conan the Barbarian.A few books nearly steal the show, including:The Peril of the Brutal Dark — a noir mystery blending archaeology and pulp adventureAssorted Crisis Events #8 — a deeply emotional comic about fading relationships and lost connectionsConan the Barbarian #29 — an issue so strong it works even without Conan appearing until the final pageBut the biggest surprise of the week?Steve's Pick of the Week ends up being Batman #7, a haunting psychological story featuring a silent Joker, an uneasy conversation with Batman, and echoes of The Killing Joke. Finally, the hosts continue their Grant Morrison Batman group read, discussing issues 657–658 from the Batman and Son storyline. Damian Wayne enters the story with a bang—and not in a good way—raising questions about Batman's judgment and the darker implications of the character's introduction. If you're reading along, the next discussion will cover issues 663–664 after a short break.Send us a message (I'm not able to reply)Support the showPage Chewing Blog Page Chewing Forum Film Chewing PodcastSpeculative Speculations Podcast Support the podcast via PayPal Support the show by using our Amazon Affiliate linkJoin Riverside.fm Co-Hosts: Jarrod Varsha Chris Jose Carl D. From punk gigs and roadie days with Killing Joke to raves with the KLF and the creation of The Orb's landmark album Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld, Alex shares the stories, influences and chance encounters that shaped his career. I might overuse this word a little bit, but on this week's episode we do have a true pair of legends in conversation on the Talkhouse Podcast this week: Maynard James Keenan and Daniel Ash. Keenan is of course best known as the frontman for Tool, the dark, complex, heavy band he formed way back in 1990—but whose records come few and far between. Keenan is also the frontman for A Perfect Circle, but the reason for today's chat is yet another band, Puscifer. This one started out almost as a solo outlet for Keenan's weirdest ideas: There are comedic elements, and—fun fact—Puscifer actually sprung to life as part of a Mr. Show sketch. (Google it, it's a good story.) But the band has evolved over the years into a steady trio that features Keenan alongside Carina Round and Mat Mitchell, and that more recently has explored Keenan's most theatrical and straightforward impulses. It's funny, weird, and heavy, and the brand new Puscifer album, Normal Isn't, even nods sonically to UK post-punk bands like Killing Joke. Check out “Self Evident” right here. The other half of today's conversation is Daniel Ash, whose resume also includes a remarkable number of incredible bands, starting with Bauhaus, moving directly into Tones on Tail, and then heading for a long stretch into Love and Rockets, which reunited a couple of years ago for some very welcome shows. Ash's guitar playing over the years has been quietly influential on a ton of players; you can hear his tone in a remarkable swath of bands. Last year, he released the first album by his latest outfit, Ashes & Diamonds. Called Ashes & Diamonds Are Forever, it's unmistakably Ash's voice and tone, though in some flashier dressing on occasion. It's a lot of fun. Check out “Teenage Robots” right here. In this wide-ranging conversation, Ash and Keenan talk about Keenan's wine business—he was nice enough to send Ash some bottles in advance of this chat—as well as touring, making videos, and the seemingly inevitable future of AI. Ash thinks it's going to be good, so even if he's wrong, it's nice to hear some optimism. Ash is also obsessed with motorcycles, leading Keenan to suggest an intervention. Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to Maynard James Keenan and Daniel Ash for chatting. In 1989 after notable releases of Watchmen, The Killing Joke, and wrapping up V for Vendetta , one of the great comic book writers of all time Alan Moore sets to tell another gripping tale based on the Whitechapel murderers during the 1800s around the question: Who is Jack the Ripper? With illustrations of talented Eddie Campbell, this Eisner Winning graphic novel explores circumstances around the time period of when these tragedies occurred, who, or whom could have been involved in the crimes, and an idea of what the world was like in East End of London. Every angle, motive and perspective is explored by a core cast of characters. Alan Moore himself thoroughly researched the historical manuscripts with notes of the Victorian Era, which are included in the collected editions. It is a stunning tale that is recommended for fans of true crime, horror, historical fiction, and fans of this creative team to truly appreciate all that From Hell has to offer. It's a very special encore interview with legendary producer Martin “Youth” Glover! This is one of my favorite episodes ever! Not only because we talk about some his production credits such as working with Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Gun & Roses, U2, Kate Bush, The Verve, and many others. But also, because he was the longtime bass player from one of my all-time favorite bands: Killing Joke. An absolute thrill of an interview! (Note: This interview was recorded just four months before the death of Killing Joke guitarist Geordie Walker). Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and on the Rock102 app. Brought to you by Metro Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chicopee.
Martin Atkins's three decades in the music industry in nearly every aspect of record production, gives him a rare perspective on the music business past, present, and future. After early success as a drummer with Public Image Ltd. and later work with acts like Killing Joke, Ministry, and Nine Inch Nails, he launched his own projects including Pigface and the influential Invisible Records. He has since become an author, speaker, and educator, sharing his expertise at major conferences and now teaching music business at Millikin University. A father of four, he lives in Chicago with his wife, Katrina.

As I continue to recover (and prepare for a couple of procedures and impending surgery) from appendix issues, I’ve excitedly turned Car Con Carne over to guest hosts. For this episode, Karen and Ivan from the Chicago bass duo Bellhead steal the keys to the car while I recover. Their guest is a post-punk legend, entrepreneur, author, and museum founder: the infamous Martin Atkins (Pigface, NIN, PiL). They recorded at Martin’s Museum of Post Punk and Industrial Music (natch) and discuss (among other things): *Martin’s decision to perform Killing Joke’s “Extremities” in its entirety for the first time in 33 years at Reggies Rock Room on November 28th and 29th *The cast of characters invited to take on this endeavor *Martin’s early days with Killing Joke, including how some of the “Extremities” songs came to life. *The creation of PPIM and updates, and why you should come visit. Thanks for supporting Car Con Carne, especially during this weird period where I’m off the grid. Please support my guest hosts and their guests (go to Reggie’s or watch the live stream Thanksgiving weekend)! Scorpion Milk's Mat McNerny joins us today to discuss the most joyous of terrifying movies of the 80s, The Stuff. Mat's latest album is called 'Slime of the Times' and I can not stop listening to it. So why not ask him to come onto a show about horror movies and combine my two passions. BOOM!
I do think of my formative years a lot – and I think this started to happen more when my parents died in 2022. Music started to become huge for me around 1976 when I was 8 and started playing the cello…but I did have some music differences of opinion let's say as I got a bit older and started to listen to “bang and thump music” as my dad used to call it – I really struggled to reconcile what I now know is a beautiful instrument with the Ramones, who were changing my life and pulling me in the other direction – it was like I had an alter ego. I mean, it's not a big deal in the whole scheme of things, but you know, each to their own. Anyway, I just devoured more and more music – bands like Killing Joke, Siouxsie, Au Pairs, Minutemen, Husker Du - and as I found more and more stuff through, mainly listening to Peel and other local radio – like Steve Barker's On The Wire and Tony Michaelides on Piccadilly or just taking a chance based on whether I liked the sleeve, I started to get into more of the avant garde, off kilter, skrunky, weird – Neubauten, Alien Sex Fiend, Bush Tetras, The Fall, Butthole Surfers and then there was a bit of a lightbox moment with Tackhead's Hard Left around 86, I think before Public Enemy came along and changed things again. There was also another band who completely flummoxed, intrigued and excited me - and that was Fini Tribe. There was the underground and there was Fini Tribe. I had no idea how to describe them. They didn't sound like anyone else. I had no idea what they looked like. And I didn't know much about them. And I had no idea what to expect. And of course, we lived in an age of genre obsession – still do - so they were real genre party poopers. So, by the time I was listening to Splash Care or Detestimony, there were frequent shouts of “turn that shit off”. I was very used to this. Especially from the fella that liked Dire Straits. But Fini Tribe awakened an excitement in me – listening to them was like Alice Through The Looking Glass stepping into another world that felt as distant and exciting to me as when I got those first Killing Joke records… I never got to see them live so to now have a wonderful compilation of their 1982-1987 years called The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe, diligently and lovingly brought to life by the band with tracks I've never heard before including some live tracks, well, it's well worth the wait. This is such an exhilarating and fascinating insight with Christopher Connelly and Davie Miller.https://www.iwannajumplikedeedee.comI Wanna Jump Like Dee Dee is the music podcast that does music interviews differently.

"Wait For Fire Burning" Formed in Oakland in 1985, Legal Reins were comprised of singer/guitarist Danny Benatar, bassist Eden Unger and drummer Tim Freund. They tore up the Bay Area scene, playing show after show and cementing themselves as one of the best live bands around. This is a band who did the work, got in the reps and eclipsed the Gladwellian idea of 10,000 hours. Opening for everyone from Madness to Killing Joke, Legal Reins proved themselves time and again that they could step on any stage and match anyone in terms of power and heart. Their exhilarating blend of sweeping pop epics and punchy hook laden rock and roll brought to mind everyone from The Sound to Echo and the Bunnymen to the Waterboys. After a bit of a bidding war, they signed to Arista in 1987, put out their debut album Please, The Pleasure soon after and then? Well, then things turned the other way. I'm going to let Tim tell you the story, but let me say this: In 1986 I was the music director of KVHS, an all-metal station located conveniently on my high school campus. I was in the habit of sneaking in The Smiths and The Chameleons in between Accept and Venom just to see if anyone noticed--they did, by the way. It was slightly terrifying to be 16 and getting death threats for not playing King Diamond, but I digress. Legal Reins called me up and they were very kind and I loved their music and one time I played them in between Y&T and Armored Saint and this one guy called up and said, very aggressively, Who was that you played after Y&T? I told him Legal Reins and he was quiet for second and then he said, That was pretty good... While everyone is talking about the horror of two Jewish embassy aides being shot and killed at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on May 21, 2025, there are three major details lacking from the conversation: 1) within the same 24-hour timeframe, Israeli soldiers began shooting at a group of diplomats from Egypt, Jordan, Spain, France, Italy, the U.K., and Canada, who were touring the West Bank. Israel quickly ran cover claiming that the workers, there on a tour organized by the Palestinian Authority, were in danger and the IDF was letting them know by firing their guns in the same direction. In reality, it was likely a method of intimidation and threat against those countries. But while Israel can shoot at embassy staff and diplomats, others cannot. Israel also bombed an Iranian embassy annex building in Syria in 2024, killing six, and received virtually no condemnation, an action that mirrors their deliberate killings of aide workers and medics. 2) the importance of two Jews once again takes precedence over every other life, regardless the context 3) the crackdown on the 1st Amendment as a result of the shooting, with the ADL's David Goldenberg demanding mass censorship of social media, and Attorney General Pam Bondi - who is investigating the state of Washington for requiring clergy in the church to report child abuse, and who has yet to release the Epstein files - promising to prosecute the shooter to the fullest extent of the law. The shooter also, interestingly, has a jewish name - Elias. This also comes on the heels of the Jewish Stephen Miller talking about the suspension of habeas corpus, something already violated with the deportation programs not of illegal immigrants but of visa holders because 88 Jewish organizations called on the White House to stop illegal deportations and because Jewish spy groups like Canary Mission, and the Esther Project, demanded it. In other words, jewish leaders, organizations, and groups directly assaulting the Bill of Rights, attacking speech, protest, publication and religion, and habeas corpus - not to mention one of the biggest anti-gun lobby groups is the Jewish Bloomberg. If that weren't bizarre enough, it's the response to pointing these facts out that turn up the heat, something that wouldn't happen if one were pointing out the influence of Islamic and Muslim radicals. In response to the shooting of two Jewish workers, the President sent the Secretary of Homeland Security to Israel so she could pray at the Western Wall and honor the dead. Kristi Noem then, after praying, wrote in the visitors' book: “Israel is the chosen people, and the United States stands by you.” Regardless of one's opinion about anything relating to Israel, that statement, and the White House offering full support to Israel under any circumstance, is tantamount to treason. It is not only putting a foreign country first, or even a small group of Jews, but allowing the USA to become vulnerable to all the threats such as suicidal alliance brings. That is not America First, nor is it providing for Homeland Security; it is Jews first, not even Israeli, and a threat to national security. It also puts American Jews in danger, since they are part of the American public. So to rewrite a line from the Dark Knight: “If I say that tomorrow a group of soldiers or kids will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all part of the plan; but if I say that two Jews get shot, then everybody loses their minds.”*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Dive deep into the shadows of Gotham as Geek History Lesson embarks on a gripping journey through Batman's Dark Age—spanning from 1985 to 2000. This era redefined the Caped Crusader, courtesy of visionary creators like Frank Miller, whose "The Dark Knight Returns" brought a gritty realism to Bruce Wayne's world. Alongside Alan Moore's "The Killing Joke," which delved into the twisted psyche of the Joker, and Grant Morrison's innovative narratives in "Arkham Asylum," these stories sculpted a darker, more complex Batman. This period ushered in a renaissance of the Dark Knight, transforming him into a symbol of vigilante justice steeped in moral ambiguity, setting the stage for Batman's evolution for years to come.
