Episode Ten: The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me (Quarantine Edition, Vol. I — featuring Me and My Friends)

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 4, 2020 41:02

How’s your quarantine going? Mine’s been pretty awful. As most of you know by now I broke my right shoulder recently, which has basically rendered me useless. One major part of this show is cooking a meal for my guest. Guess what? I can’t do that now. So there goes half my show. On top of that, quarantine. Meaning I can’t even invite guests into my home to interview. There goes the other half of my show! What’s a boy to do?So in all the spare time I’ve had being stuck inside and unable to do most simple daily tasks, I came up with an idea. Why don’t I pick an album that I love, reach out to my friends, and let them interview me? Brilliant! After sending many text messages, facebook messages, etc. I had my friends either e-mail me or send me voice memos from their phones asking me about one of my personal favorite albums, The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me by Brand New, and that’s what we have here. This episode was a lot of fun to make, and depending on how much longer this quarantine lasts I’m thinking I might do it again. I tried to keep the episode fun, so there’s dumb sound effects, background music, a few pieces of trivia about the album that you may not know even if you are familiar with this record. Also, you’ll notice there is no recipe to accompany this episode. I recorded this episode over about a week so I discuss some of the meals I ate over the course of the recording process. None of which I made myself, but delicious nonetheless. Also I talk about the embarrassing amount of times I bit the inside of my lip and completely ruined my dining experience. So sit back, relax, and enjoy my friends grilling me over The Devil and God.Listen on Apple Podcasts | Listen on Spotify

Hi, Folks! This week I sat down with my friend Derek from Crowfeeder. I had his other band member, Adam, on a few weeks ago. Completely out of left field, Derek chose Carly Rae Jepsen’s album EMOTION. Don’t get me wrong, I fucking love that album, but in no way was it anything I would have expected from Derek.Strap in, folks. This episode is a good one. I even talk about video games for a few minutes. I promise I’ll update later with the recipe I made. I’m tired and it’s almost midnight.

We reminisce over the many times we’ve seen them perform over the last decade.Tune in for a informative episode on this excellent record and listen to some funny moments we’ve experienced.

Welcome back, everyone! Thanks so much for listening, subscribing, and all that crap. I can’t believe the response I’ve gotten from the show so far.On this week’s episode I had my friend Adam, from Crowfeeder and the man behind Constant Disappointment Records, join me. We had some delicious risotto and talked at length about Poison the Well’s “You Come Before You”, nerded out over records, and talked about many other bands and shows we’ve attended. We even realized we likely met in the past without even realizing it.Put your seatbelt on kids, this is a good one.You can find Adam’s band Crowfeeder on Bancamp at http://crowfeeder.bandcamp.com and check out all the releases from his label Constant Disapointment Records at http://constantdisappointment.bandcamp.com.

Hello again! Thanks for tuning in for Episode Four. I had the pleasure of spending the evening with an old friend, Lauren. We enjoyed some carnitas tacos, my renowned Spanish rice, and had a really interesting discussion on the somewhat polarizing Saves The Day album, “Sound The Alarm”. After the release of their previous album “In Reverie” they lost a large fan base due to a large shift in musical style, and the band was also dropped from their first major label deal. This album is somewhat of a return to form for the band, and is also produced by Steve Evetts, who produced their debut and second albums.Join us for some really good conversation, some interesting trivia, and a few trips down memory lane from wild nights in Somerville.Check out the folk inspired Square Enix VGM band The World Is Square that Lauren is in on Bandcamp at http://theworldissquare.bandcamp.com.You can also follow Lauren on Instagram at @laurenissquare.

So, first thing’s first, I apologize for the audio quality of this episode. I’m still learning. Give me a break.I had the pleasure of having my friend Erica over to discuss one of my favorite albums of 2017, Kesha’s Rainbow. We share our feelings over this record and learn a lot about what it means to each of us.We also completely forget to talk about the food we ate until the end. I made my famous Chicken Broccoli Alfredo which, unfortunately, is a recipe I will not share. You won’t find it here, kids. Sorry. Also, you’ll hear a lot of beeping in the background, which is from our friend Fran who was taking the photographs you see above, and the one featured on the front page of this website. Please follow Erica on Instagram at @featuring___pizzastevePlease follow Fran’s photography Instagram at @fran_collazo_photoPlease listen to this amazing album and share your thoughts on Twitter or through e-mail. Episode One: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence and Saag Paneer with Guest Jenny Bruno

Wow! It’s finally here! My very first episode.I invited my long time friend Jenny Bruno over to discuss one of our favorite albums, Glassjaw’s Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence, over some saag paneer. Unfortunately, the dish didn’t come out exactly as planned, but the episode is full of great conversation. This episode does take twists and turns into some personal aspects of our lives, but it’s still enjoyable nonetheless. Also, I apologize if this episode makes you have to pee due to the constant sound of running water in the background. We recorded in my dining room, which is where Shelly’s turtle tank is and the mic picked up the sound VERY well.Attached below you can find the recipe for the saag paneer I made. I hope yours comes out a bit better if you attempt it.Follow Jenny on Instagram at @stillness.speaks.to.me.
