Faerlin has convinced the guards to drop their weapons under the guise of a “training exercise”, so Eight takes Jimothy and Bessie down to the stables where they should be safe from harm. While they're gone, Rou unintentionally undermines Faerlin's deception when he reveals he and the others have not been hired for any purpose, training or otherwise. Realizing the reality of the situation, one of the guards tackles Rou. Eight returns to find Trix and Rou battling the guards and Faerlin merely standing off to the side, watching. They gasp, draw their weapon and point it at Faerlin as they accuse him of luring them here under false pretenses. Eight casts a spell to draw Faerlin closer and forces them to lay belly flat on the floor, holding them while Rou and Trix deal with the guards. Eventually the spell ends and Faerlin stands, their eyes pleading with Eight and finally turning to anger. In an attempt to reveal no ill will, Faerlin tosses a dagger at a guard attempting to escape while Trix tries to convince them that Faerlin is on their side. Eight gives in a bit, agreeing to help Trix and Rou but announces to Faerlin they won't forget what happened. Walking pneumonia cases in central Indiana have seen a steep increase in recent weeks, local physicians say.Walking pneumonia is generally considered less severe than pneumonia, but can have lasting impacts if not caught early on. The disease is caused by mycoplasma pneumoniae, which can damage the lining of the respiratory tract, according to the CDC.It is spread through droplets released when someone coughs or sneezes.Symptoms can begin mildly with sore throat, cough, or chest pain. About two million people are diagnosed with the disease each year. It's Episode 338. Somewhat surprisingly and certainly prematurely, this will be the last episode that contains an LAFC game recap in 2024, as the Black and Gold fall to the Rave Green, 2-1, at BMO in the Western Conference Semifinals. It was a heartbreaking loss, especially because LAFC had played well enough to win and created enough chances to score. The soccer gods, however, are a fickle bunch, and, in this year's playoffs, aging goalkeepers seem to have curried their favor. Stefan Frei stood on his head, making three incredible saves on would-be sure goals, Maxime Chanot found the back of our net, and Jordan Morris found one late to eliminate LAFC. Yes, questions abound. And yes, we ask many of them here on 338. However, this isn't a full post-mortem, as that will come later in the offseason. This episode truly was a venting session, a stage in the grieving process. You want Dolo out? Pissed at JT and the FO? Do you feel the same way Scarf does about Olivier Giroud? All of that was fair game on this one, as this can be your safe space, too. Like we said, we will attempt to ask and answer many of the larger questions at a later date this year. Also on this episode, Filly talks like a parrot, Scarf answers the door, and we search for Carlos Vela. This isn't goodbye for 2024 yet, but it's at least goodbye for Episode 338!

A study last year showed that violence is gaining mainstream acceptance, with one-third of Republicans saying that violence may be the answer to saving the US. As the election approaches, can we totally discount the idea of a ‘civil war' in the US? Some say that this has all been a long-time coming. Jack Goldstone, an expert on Civil Unrest, practically predicted January 6th, writing alongside Peter Turchin less than two months before the 2020 election: “Is the US likely headed for still greater protests and violence? In a word, yes.”In fact, Goldstone had already predicted over 25 years ago that in the 21st century, the US would elect a populist America-first leader who would inflict division and chaos onto the country.Jack Goldstone, Professor of Public Policy at George Mason University joins this episode of ‘Mehdi Unfiltered' together with one of the top experts on fascism, New York University's History Professor Ruth Ben-Ghiat, the author of ‘Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present.' “What it would mean is an end to the lawful processes that we believe in.
