Reader Ryan Dembinsky (class of 2000) is one of the guitar players in this NYC band that promises "Protean fjord jam rock." I'd actually characterize it as a great example of the more interesting stuff that came out at the end of the garage rock era (other examples: Apollo Sunshine, Starlight Mints) that I thought was better than the genre that birthed it. Ryan also used to write the Ghosts of Wayne Fontes blog back when MGoBlog was young (2006-2009) and sports blogging was a budding industry. I'm not sure they're still together—the last show on their FB page was pre-pandemic—and even then they were all musicians on the side with full-time jobs. I wonder what would have happened if they took this professional though, because they're pretty good and got some buzz in the NYC music scene around 2017. A complex and incredible musical tribute to the famed Omaha haunted house attraction "Mystery Manor" which was closed and demolished in 2024 after 40 years of delivering fun filled fright to the citizens of Omaha. We talk in-depth about Daviel's new series The Lovers, a 7-episode series available on Prime Video, that she brought to life during the pandemic lockdowns.  The Lovers follows the story of a laid off sex-worker who falls for a fitness witch in 2020's L.A. When asked her elevator pitch for the series, Daviel explained that it's basically a kinkier, gayer Skins and after watching it, we fully agree with that description. Prior to creating The Lovers, Daviel had a lot of experience with writing, directing and producing, but with the barriers of the lockdowns, she decided to also star in the series, a first that helped her realize she actually wanted to do what her character was doing. For those who want an even more accurate assesment of what we discussed today, our friends at Shinesparkers released an article professionally translating the Nintendo Dream article from Japanese to English. This was released the day after we recorded, so it's not brought up in the episode. Most of what we discussed still stands, but there are a couple areas that their translation addresses which we did not accurately speculate on. Last week, a new Metroid Prime 4: Beyond article published by Nintendo Dream, a Japanese based magazine, was released and quickly spread throughout the Metroid community like wildfire. This led to all sorts of discussions on the possbilities that these new revelations could be hinting at. While doing some research for this episode however, we noticed that a lot of the juicer info being talked about in the community stemmed not from the Nintendo Dream article, but from a piece by Universo Nintendo written by 'Necro' Felipe Lima attempting to translate the article from Japanese to Portuguese which has since been deleted. Being that a lot of this information is translated between 2 different languages, we realized that some of the stuff being talked about in the community might not be entirely accurate. Today, Doominal Crossing is joined by Dakota Latsky making his grand return as the two attempt to dissect this info once and for all. The duo goes over both the original Nintendo Dream article (with the help of Google Translate) as well as the Universo Nintendo follow-up to get an answer on what's fact, what's fiction and where the mistranslation happened.
