Two small words - one big impact on our mindset.   If you ever find yourself mulling over the "IF ONLY's" in life, you're not alone.  In working with some of my mastermind clients, we have spent some serious effort going deep into this mindset and how it warps our perception of time.   We have realized that dwelling on this only serves to stall our progress.  The good news is that there are THREE practical and simple steps to first RECOGNIZE where and how we are thinking "IF ONLY" and then how to overcome this pattern and reclaim our schedules and our emotions.     Listen and then grab a trusted friend to work through these steps together.  There is so much freedom and peace waiting for you on the other side.     ------------

A new theatrical season is about to open at the John Greenleaf Whittier School in Haverhill with the production of Disney's “Descendants: The Musical.”Music teacher and JGW Drama Club Executive Director Robert D. “Bobby” Gariepy III explained how to audition for a part during a recent appearance on WHAV's “Win for Breakfast” program.“Jan. 8 is vocal audition. Come prepared to sing 30-seconds of your favorite song. Tuesday, Jan. 9, is acting auditions. So be prepared to read from the script, and Wednesday, Jan. 10, that will be group dance auditions. We will teach you a small dance, and you will dance on stage in small groups in front of kids auditioning for the show. Everyone who tries out for our show is accepted into the performance. Whether or not they get a role, like a solo role, whether they sing or they have a couple of lines, that's one thing, but everyone is invited to participate no matter what. We always do that to keep the door open for everybody,” he said.Gariepy said auditions are open to students throughout the district, from Grade 3 to Grade 12, and the show is a blend several stories.“Similar to how, when I spoke with you about, ‘Into the Woods' over the summer with the different fairy tales coming together in one place. Now, this is kind of like the Disney side of the villains and their children, and how that comes together. The kids are absolutely obsessed. They know almost every song. They know almost all the dances. I have taught them nothing. So, it's quite impressive to be at the caliber already. I think it's going to be a fantastic production.”Gariepy went on to talk about some of the songs.“'You Want to be Evil,' There's that one. There's ‘Rotten to the Core,' ‘If Only' is another really popular one that the kids like—it's a slower song. We sang a couple of these at our winter concert on Dec. 15. The kids insisted on giving a little bit of a representation of their spring musical in their winter concert, and I said ‘okay we can do that.'”Gariepy said he is thrilled with the public support the group receives, adding that royalty fees for the shows are quite steep—leading to the need to fundraise and to make sure the shows themselves make a profit.“When we did ‘Matilda' in the spring, it net profited thousands of dollars for us to continue to do the things that we do. We did ‘Into the Woods' over the summer. We did the ‘Addams Family' this fall. Every performance has been a major fundraiser for us and' in-between, we've been awarded some grant money as well, which has been really nice—one from the Haverhill Cultural Council. We're really grateful for the momentum, for the representation, for the support for our kids because the kids need it. Kids really do need theater and show who they truly are, to be able to be comfortable with themselves.”Gariepy said rehearsals for “Disney's Descendants the Musical” begin Tuesday, Jan. 16. Additional information is on the JGW Drama Club web page.Support the show

They went on to sell over 85 million records worldwide, cementing their status as one of the all-time greats. In 1998, Halliwell-Horner decided to leave the group, jumping into her solo music career. Along the way, Halliwell-Horner realized her passion for storytelling could translate to pursuits outside of songwriting, and she embarked on a new journey as a book author. After the success of her best-selling autobiography, If Only, Halliwell-Horner went on to pen the fictional children's series Ugenia Lavender, which sold more than 250,000 copies in its first five months. In this episode, we look at decision-making in the world of deep sea diving, a topic that provides us with so many transferable lessons to other domains. It is also a very fun conversation. My guest is Gareth Lock. Gareth is the founder of The Human Diver, an organisation that improves the effectiveness of diving skills through specific human factors training. Gareth has had a long career as a diver, starting out his career in the Royal Air Force where he spent 25 years. Over the years he realised that one thing the military does very well is teamwork – which, of course makes sense because poor decisions, bad behaviour and a lack of situational awareness can cost lives. Gareth found that the world of diving focused heavily on technical expertise – obviously important – but emphasised human behaviours and decision-making less than it should. As a result, he brings these approaches to the diving profession. Gareth has led many complex dives all over the world. He has also taken a huge amount of amazing underwater photos which you can see on his website. This conversation is filled with wonderful insights about decision-making, working in teams, planning, the importance of constructive dissent, psychological safety, a just culture, making change happen, systems thinking and much more. The renegade British designer Tom Dixon has long had a roving obsession with raw materials—everything from cast iron, steel, and copper; to clay, glass, and stone; to felt, plastic, and marble; to, more recently, cork and aluminum. Entirely self-trained and without any formal design education, Dixon emerged in the design sphere in the 1980s by creating unusual welded salvage furniture that was at once antique, experimental, beautiful, and punk in spirit. Never short of bold, forward-looking ideas, Dixon works from a materials-first perspective. Over the years, he has created an industrial chair with upholstery inspired by the rubber inner tubing of car tires, furniture made of flame-cut steel, and even conceptual pieces grown underwater and built of Biorock. Central to all that he does is a quest for longevity and, in turn, sustainability; he has even, in the past, toyed with the idea of a thousand-year guarantee. On the episode, Dixon talks about how two motorbike accidents transformed his life, his days in the early 1980s as a bass player in the disco-funk band Funkapolitan, why he considers cork a “wonder material,” and the parallels he sees between his design creations and those of a baker.Special thanks to our Season 7 sponsor, Van Cleef & Arpels.Show notes: [00:56] Tom Dixon[07:02] Flame-Cut Furniture[11:27] Design Miami[12:06] Craig Robins[13:50] Wolf Hilbertz[31:14] S-Chair[34:41] Giulio Cappellini[35:12] Marc Newson[35:15] Jasper Morrison[38:56] Isamu Noguchi[38:56] Akari Light Sculptures[39:57] Constantin Brâncuși[40:33] Dixonary[46:34] Funkapolitan[49:16] Funkapolitan's “If Only”[49:17] Funkapolitan's “In the Crime of Life”[50:17] August Darnell[53:56] Guy Pratt[53:58] Rockonteurs with Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt[54:50] Creative Salvage[01:01:06] IKEA[01:03:37] Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec[01:03:50] Enzo Mari[01:03:51] Achille Castiglioni[01:03:52] Verner Panton

Today we're talking about the "shoulda"s, the "woulda"s, and the "coulda"s; the "What If?"s and the "If Only"s. But we're digging into the science and figuring out how to not be driven bananas by all of it. Counterfactual thinking-- the idea of visualizing an alternative outcome, comes in different forms and can have positives in negatives. From surprising research about Olympic medalists to specific tools for how to think differently and let go of the past, you'll find it all in today's Baggage Check. Dreaming - A Waste Of Time Or Is It? Inspiration to Ideas to Wishes to Dreams to REALITY Right from the get-go - this is NOT a goal-setting workshop episode, if you want that go to #259 Oh No! Another bloody goal-setting workshop - NOT. So what is it? Well, it's my thoughts on how we get our inspiration and ideas and get them to be real and not just float away and disappear into the ether. We all get them, some don't stick yet others begin to get us thinking and we get that feeling Oooooo! and we begin to create that dream, and even then they can evaporate and when we look back we say to ourselves "If Only", "I wish I'd", or "I could of but I didn't" - What a lost opportunity. So in this episode, we dive into HOW we take those wishes, those dreams, and make them actualize, become real, and create our reality, the reality we want for ourselves. Is it important to you to be able to do this? And reap the benefits of creating a wonderfully rich life (it may be the only one you have)? If it is please press play >>>> and not only learn but be the doer, the one that talks the talk AND walks the walk. And when you have and picked up the golden nuggets please share them with as many others as you can so they too get to get it too. Hey Friend! It's so easy to get caught in the If Only” phase. If I had tile my home would smile better. If We completed this project I would be so happy etc. The what if's can go on and on while robbing and stealing our joy. I have been there so many times. What I have learned is that when one issue is no longer a problem something else emerges and we are back to trying to fulfill another desire. The Bible is our guide and map of life and in it, we discover that we have all we need. God's grace is sufficient and he always provides and fulfills our needs. In this episode, I share 4 powerful scriptures that can speak to you and help shift your perspective in this season of life. It's time to look through a new lens. Enjoy!
