    something that we don't talk enough about is how much as black bodied people we are carrying a lot unprocessed trauma, and are constantly running around without support or rest. I did the unspeakable for community organizer in the last 2 weeks, I did nothing. I slept, I ate and I answered no emails. Rest is resistance and it's embodied in safety." I feared that an invitation to rest in these precarious times would feel hollow, disingenuous, insufficient. Worried that the suggestion of rest, self and community care would be woefully inadequate to meet the unrelenting demands of this time."

    Gelila(ggehh-lee-la) is a 25 years old immigrant black woman living in Minnesota.She is a part-time student & a full-time worker. Something that's dear to Gelila's heart is her abstract art that is heavily inspired by post-impressionism work of the past. Gelila sees her art as a way to visually see raw emotions on her own canvas, as well as hear other peoples peoples perceptions on it. It's her personal expression space.

    In this pilot story, Yordi and Tiana talk about how safety sometimes is not being here, and safety oftentimes comes from knowing your circumstances. Tiana is a black financial adviser and realtor in Minnesota focusing on educating black folks, immigrants, and others navigate a capitalist system not meant for them to survive in (while also working to dismantle it for a better future). She enjoys learning as much as possible, whether that be through traveling, eating new cuisines, learning a new language, or taking yet another certification course.
