In this edition of the SlipStream podcast, I turn the inverview mic over to my friend Josh Anderson ("T1Mex"), who plunges us into some interesting rabbit holes. We dig into some of the mental models I use for decision making, my spirit animal, what things annoy me and some of the highlights and lowlights of my career. We also sneak in some talk about a couple of mutual friends in the industry and wiggle around the foods we put in our air fryers that just might kill us someday soon. This is a long form episode, running just slightly over an hour, but includes some great stuff. Subscribe to SlipStream on Soundwise

The basic methodology is: Identify data sources Establish a weighted scoring process for the decision Hope these examples help with an approach to use systems-based thinking and mental models, along with a touch of code, for folks to use to make wise decisions.
In this episode I talk through a mental model and worksheet that I use to analyze ideas for projects, products and services. The model builds on 3 currency theory that I discussed here: https://mysoundwise.com/episodes/1592255380114e
This time around I discuss my own mental model for doing project and task management. I also throw in a couple of quick ways that I sort tasks and projects. Make sure you check out episode 8 around Three Currency Theory. This edition makes a lot more sense with that in mind. Subscribe to SlipStream on Soundwise
In this episode I cover the MATT mental model and how I use it to optimize my week and calendar. I discuss three currency theory, explain each meta-variable and walk through examples of optimizing for each one, then throw in Turbulence to round out the model. Check it out and hit me up on Twitter or other social media and let me know your thoughts! PS - This is epsiode is a little shorter than most, but the model herein is quite powerful when used with discipline! Subscribe to SlipStream on Soundwise
This week I cover how I found, researched and adapted the CAR.O.L algorithm (an approach to cardio-vascular fitness). This is NOT an exercise podcast or episode, though. Instead I explain the algorithm, how it is a form of systems-based thinking and the research behind it. Then I dig into how and why I adapted it to my own life and circumstances using the Pareto Principle and some sketchy Amazon ordering. :) Lastly, I close with the results of my n=1 experiment during the COVID19 pandemic and sequester. This week on SlipStream, I take a deep dive into a mental model for owning different businesses and building personal wealth outside of them. I call this the Dollar Value Business Model. This episode covers how I've used this model over the last 30 years, the pros and cons of applying it and how it has created freedom and optionality in my life. It's probably not for everyone, and your mileage and paranoia may vary accordingly. (Thanks, Phorkus, for that pointer!)
