Formal Gamer : A Dungeons and Dragons Podcast
This is just a check-in with you, our beautiful listeners. The TL:DL is that there is some real life health stuff going on that has meant we've had to take a temporary pause in the podcast. Do not fear, however, we will be back... dudes and dudettes we got some GREAT stuff for you.
Grot and Dante can smell trouble. And it stinks.
Grot and Dante are back. With a small army of former slaves. And there is nothing else that could possibly make them more powerful now...no, nothing at all. Cue intro music...
Sorry about the delay. Grot and Dante are having some remote fun...and Grot has found a new young friend. Someone to train and help. That can't go horribly wrong again, can it?
There are slaves to be saved...or you know...used. Depending on how immoral you feel like being.
We recorded remotely. We had to say Coco Pops to try and sync the recordings. We did silly things. I hope you're happy.
Someone fires the cannon. That's all that matters this week. It was Chekov's cannon and it gets fired. Who fires it? At whom? From wherefore? Question marks?
I know...I know. I suck. Too long a wait. But it is here. The next installment of the Formal Gamer. And it is just as chaotic and violent as ever. And silly. So silly
Grot, Dante and Rill are hunting for VENGEANCE. And that means some serious violence is on the cards. Hoar forgive anyone who dares to get in their way. Stay safe The Formal Gamer Guys
Another lockdown episode. Sorry I got behind again. This is classic plans and failing at plans that you want from the Formal Gamer. Stay safe The Formal Gamer
We're back. After an unintended hiatus we return to Grot and Dante attempting to get themselves out of a pickle they have placed themselves in...again. Where is Rill? How will they stop the evil circus? What happened to John the birdman?
Grot and Dante are getting up to chaos and nonsense as always. These descriptions are going to be generic for a while as these episodes have been in the tank while I look after a baby I made. Enjoy the episode.

Grot and Dante are going upriver. Up an underground river. Toward a light. They may be searching for answers and treasure, are they more likely to find questions and trouble? Probably...
Grot and Dante get up to some cave and shoe based hijinks. This is what people want from narrative based games. The chance to screw with things and throw stuff about. It's a classic.
There's darkness and depths, which I am fairly certain what the D and D stand for in DnD. Grot and Dante have got a vampire army to wipe out and a ward to avenge.
The boys have got some sad decisions to make. And now Grot is even more angry than before...and he was hardly chilled out.
The less I say the better. Less = Better. But...intense... Here is a link to the new store at Threadless. Go and bathe in its magnificence. Or order a t-shirt. Or don't. You know it really is up to you. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter and you can check out our website.
Abu has done a map. And I forgot to tell you how good it was. Look at our Twitter and our Facebook and tell Abu how amazing he is. He deserves it. Or he'll rob you. He's got over 100 gold pieces, so it would be a real robbing spree. This weeks episode is combat heavy. And chaos heavy. Enjoy.
The island is a site of war. A weird little guerrilla war, and Dante and Rill are late for action. How will Grot cope with protecting his little island all on his own...well and with Gorlock. But is he more help or hinderance? Here is a link to the new store at Threadless. Go and bathe in its magnificence. Or order a t-shirt. Or don't. You know it really is up to you. Oh things are getting schemey again...Death Island is coming along...
You're about to hear an epic tale...ENJOY
Grot and Dante are still skulking and scheming. That is their default setting to be fair. If they are not skulking then they're scheming, and if you can't see them scheming you can bet they'll be skulking. I'm not sure when they find time to be useless. We are in the throws of running away and running toward. Just a lot of running. Mainly to get out of trouble, but also to make sure that Gorlock is ok. At some point they need to get into this circus and start looking at these tents...
Sorry I'm late. I feel like Gorrus, but in real life. Shooo Shorrry. Dante and Grot have been causing chaos, but now they have some stuff to get done. And there is no way that they could get into more trouble. They just need to get to town and buy some supplies. Simple...so so simple.
Grot and Dante just can't stop finding naughty circus folk. And when they find naughty circus folk then there is some violence-a-coming. Let's just hope that neither one of them loses sight of what's important...
Dante definitely meant to stab Gorlock. Grot doesn't realise this. So that's another great moment in the most awkward friendship. Poor, poor, Gorlock. Grot and Dante have got a funfair to investigate. It will definitely be a subtle affair, that we know. And no one will get stabbed.
This gets awkward. I can't say too much about it, but it is going to get really awkward. Grot has a son now...and if anything happened to him then he would be furious. So, so furious.
Grot and Dante are investigating a small innocent town. There is something up, but uncovering it is going to take subtlety, care and attention. So this is the perfect team for the job.
Grot and Dante have decided that this plan, to subtley infiltrate an evil cult, needs them to take on a ward and befriend a family of farmers. This will of course never go wrong, and will never become stupid or complicated. IT JUST WON'T HAPPEN.
Thanks for all the kind comments about Season 11. Grot and Dante are back, and they have learnt how to rob people (though it's an expensive past time). And now they have a new victim/friend Rafaq. Surely being friends with a cursed knight and a Bugbear executioner can't bring instability to his life.
We run down the history of Grot and Dante, and then they work out how to get to a small village along a country road. That is the only challenge...and yet it somehow becomes something much, much more. Thanks to all our listeners for their patience recently. I know the podcast has been a bit more chaotic, and I can only thank you for sticking with us. I hope you enjoy what I think is one of the best starts to a season we've had.
This sounds better. After 10 minutes anyway. Thanks to all those who took part at Dragonmeet this year. When I have more time I will write some proper thanks and give shout outs on Twitter. Real life needs to chill out for a bit.
We are back in the podcastzone at Dragonmeet. The recording sounds awful because I am an idiot. This was a string of bad moves in recording in December. There is a longer apology in the podcast intro. Sorry. The situation this year is a lot of fun. Mike Technique is selling a house, and each group of players get a discount if they collect some gems from inside. An inprobable and ridiculous scenario. So each group must navigate this mansion. However any mess and chaos they leave behind must be sorted by the groups that follow them. How fascinating! This year we are joined by Merely Roleplayers and The D20 Future Show Thanks as always to Kallum from The Rolistes Podcast for setting up the awesome PodcastZone
We are in the final battle and Gorrus is having a tough time. A very tough time. Enough talking I suspect. You need to hear what occurs next. Pray to Kord.
And we get into the thick of it. There is no glory without fear of death. And we are scared of dying this week. This episode was a double parter. So it does end abruptly. Sorry it is late. A busy boy.
The battle is upon us. The final plans need to be drawn up. Who will engage in combat first? Will we write letter to our mothers? Will Gorrus be allowed to do anything without being messed with first. All that, and more, on todays Formal Gamer. Here is a link to the new store at Threadless. Go and bathe in its magnificence. Or order a t-shirt. Or don't. You know it really is up to you. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter and you can check out our website.
So we fixed the audio. But we still have an issue. Farven is not a level 20. Everyone else is. And the battle they are about to undertake is seriously badass. How will Farven get ready for this final war? Surely there is something they can do. Here is a link to the new store at Threadless. Go and bathe in its magnificence. Or order a t-shirt. Or don't. THIS EPISODE SOUNDS BAD! I am sorry. I messed up the record. It is bad. I hope you can still enjoy it. If you can't then next week the sound is good again. Farven needs to level up quickly, and we need a plan to do this. And as always it gets weird.
Three lucky people got some magic pills...someone didn't. And there is no way that this could cause a massive issue is there? Here is a link to the new store at Threadless. I'm not sure how Abu spells Una/Oona/Ouhna but she is a pretty major part of todays episode and is proving to be an absolute witch. Time for the gang to enact a plan and see if they can work together. Here is a link to the new store at Threadless. Go and bathe in its magnificence. Or order a t-shirt. Or don't. It's almost Christmas. And we have another episode of the Formal Gamer Podcast. You lucky ducks. The guys are hanging out in the desert with Wellbourne and scheming. So much scheming. So many plots and ploys. Here is a link to the new store at Threadless. Go and bathe in its magnificence. Or order a t-shirt. Or don't. You know it really is up to you. Won't someone let Abu explain the story? Why won't we just let him talk? Why do we keep talking over him and ignoring him? Everyone has to listen this week to some very important news. And that sends the DM slightly mad.
There is no intro with me talking this week. It is too noisy for me to record one. Sorry. Gorrus, Sot Rue (and his new Golems) and Farven are finally making real progress. But alas that progress is going to come with making some big decisions. Decisions that might have some quite epic concequences.
We're late again. I went to Dragonmeet with Abu. I got too tired. I am sorry. The gang is on the move again. Gorrus, Garven and Sot Rue have got things to poke and places to go. Or have they got no where to go and unlimited time to do it in? It's all getting rather abstract.
