Ķīmiķi Latvijā kopā ar fiziķiem šobrīd strādā pie nanopārklājumiem vēja turbīnu lāpstiņām un īpaša sensora, kas ziņotu par zivju produktu svaigumu. Par jaunākajiem pētījumiem raidījumā Zināmais nezināmajā stāsta Latvijas Universitātes (LU) asociētais profesors, Organiskās sintēzes institūta pētnieks, ķīmiķis Artis Kinēns un fiziķis no Ukrainas, LU Atomfizikas un spektroskopijas institūta vadošais pētnieks Romāns Viters. Stāstot par topošo zivju svaiguma kontroles sensoru, Artis Kinēns skaidro, ka pašreizējās tehnoloģijas, lai noteiktu pārtikas kvalitāti, bieži vien laboratorijas izmeklējumi. "Tas nozīmē, ka ir jāņem zivs paraudziņus, sūta uz laboratoriju, taisa mikrobioloģiskos testus. Tas aizņem labākajā gadījumā dažas stundas, realitātē - vairākas dienas. Tas nozīmē, ka tas svaigums, ko noteicāt, jau ir divas dienas vecs," norāda Artis Kinēns.  Otrs variants ir fizikālas metodes, kam nepieciešams fizisks kontakts ar zivi.  "Bet ko darīt, ja zivs ir iepakojumā? Ja atvērt iepakojumu vaļā, jau ir atkritums radies. Arī tad, ja zivs paraugu sūta uz laboratoriju, arī ir radīts atkritums. Līdz ar to nav labas tiešsaistes metodes, kurā būtu iespējams kontrolēt pārtikas produktu, kas jau ir iepakojumā, lai tas nebūtu jāatver." "Galvenā priekšrocība, ko redzam pret klasisko derīguma termiņu, jo arguments būtu, derīguma termiņš ir uzdrukāts, viss kārtībā. Bet derīguma termiņš nekādā veidā nepastāsta, kā tā zivs ir bijusi glabāta. Ja viņi ir pa ceļam vesta ar ķerrā, bez saldēšanas, tad viņa būs sabojāsies krietni ātrāk, nekā ir derīguma termiņš uzrakstīts. No otras puses, ja viņa ir glabāta korekti, tas derīguma termiņš arī varbūt nav korekts. Viņš vienkārši pasaka, ka šeit būs droši, ja mēs viņu metīsim ārā. Bet tikpat labi viņa ir lietojama vēl varbūt nedēļu," analizē Artis Kinēns. "Pateicoties tam, ka nav tāda ātra kontroles mehānisma, es teikšu diezgan šausmīgu statistiku, ka aptuveni 30% no saražotās zivju produkcijas tiek izmesta ārā tikai tāpēc, ka nenonāk līdz galapatērētājam laikā." Daļa šīs produkcijas noteikti vēl būtu lietojama, bet termiņš saka, ka ir jāmet ārā. "Inovācija būtu tāda, ka, ja mēs varam šo ieviest kā standarta praksi, ka mums ir iepakojums, kurā iekšpusē ir uzlīme, kurā ir iestrādāts luminofors, tad to no ārpuses var noskenēt vai nu ar kādu lasītājierīci, ideālā gadījumā mobilo telefonu, un tas pasaka: zivs vēl ir derīga tik un tik ilgu laiku," skaidro Artis Kinēns. Pētnieks norāda, ka šobrīd mērķis ir topošo sensoru un iespējas ar to veikt svaiguma mērījumus piedāvāt pārtikas izplatītājiem un pārtikas veikaliem, lai viņiem būtu iespēja labāk kontrolēt savu produktu plūsmu, lai tā samazinātu atkritumu rašanos.  "Viņu gadījumā tā ir mobilā telefona aplikācija, visticamāk, kura nofotografē uzlīmīti, kas ir  iekšpusē pie zivs pielikta, un no tās fotogrāfijas viņš nolasa zivs svaigumu," atzīst Artis Kinēns. "Ja runājam par patērētājiem, tad pielietojums varētu būt ļoti līdzīgs - ar mobilo  telefonu nofotografē zivi veikalā un lietotne pasaka, ka zivs ir derīga vai nav." Tas tāpēc, ka pie vainas abos gadījumos ir strukturālas un ķīmiskas izmaiņas smadzenēs. Pētnieki noskaidorjuši, ka, piemēram, suņiem, žurkām, pelēm un atsevišķiem primātiem var būt izmaiņas gēnos, kas saistītas ar hiperaktīvu un impulsīvu uzvedību. Regulāra mikroplastmasas lietošana paātrina aterosklerozes veidošanos Kalifornijas universitātes pētnieki papildinājuši mūsu zināšanas par mikroplastmasas ietekmi uz cilvēka organismu. Eksperimentos ar pelēm, atklāts, ka regulāra mikroplastmasas lietošana paātrina aterosklerozes veidošanos. Ateroskleroze ir stāvoklis, kad sašaurinās artērijas, radot lielāku insulta vai infarkta risku. Te gan jāpiebilst, ka pētījumā šādus rezultatus uzrādīja tieši peļu tēviņi nevis mātītes. Pagājušajā reizē raidījumā Divas puslodes runājām par Savienoto Valstu prezidenta Donalda Trampa turneju pa Āzijas valstīm, piebilstot, ka priekšā ir gaidītākā tikšanās ar Ķīnas prezidentu Sji Dziņpinu. Kādi ir šīs tikšanās rezultāti un ko tas nozīmē pārējai pasaulei un mums visiem? Cita vērā ņemama ziņa saistās ar Nīderlandi. Tur notika ārkārtas parlamenta vēlēšanas, un to rezultāti ir citādi nekā vēl pirms gada. Labējai Brīvības partijai, kuras rīcība izprovocēja šo notikumu, vēlētāju izvēli ir likusi vilties. Iespējams, ka ārkārtas vēlēšanas būs arī Serbijā. Tur pēc ļoti plašiem protestiem prezidents Aleksandars Vučičs meklē iespējas mazināt sabiedrības neapmierinātību. Serbijā šajās dienās pieminēja traģēdijas gadadienu, kad Novisadas pilsētā sabruka dzelzceļa nojume, nogalinot 16 cilvēkus. Notikumus komentē Latvijas Transatlantiskās organizācijas ģenerālsekretāre, Latvijas Universitātes pasniedzēja Sigita Struberga, Latvijas Universitātes pasniedzējs politologs Andis Kudors un Latvijas Ārpolitikas institūta pētniece Una Aleksandra Bērziņa-Čerenkova. Un vēl viens temats. Savienotajās Valstīs 4.novembrī vairākos štatos, arī Ņujorkā, cilvēki devās pie vēlēšanu urnām. Rezultāti nav Donaldam Trampam labvēlīgi. Ko tas liecina par noskaņojumu Amerikā? „Lielo zēnu” skaidrošanās Pagājušajā ceturtdienā, 30. oktobrī, pienāca globāli sengaidīts notikums – prezidentu Donalda Trampa un Sji Dziņpina tikšanās, pirmā Savienoto Valstu līdera otrās kadences laikā. Aizvadītie mēneši, kas pagājuši abu superlielvaru tirdzniecības kara apstākļos, padara šo samitu nozīmīgu ne tikai Vašingtonai un Pekinai, ciktāl šī cīkstēšanās ekonomiski iespaido visu pasauli. Abu šīs pasaules vareno samits notika Dienvidkorejas pilsētā Pusanā un noslēdza Baltā nama saimnieka iespaidīgo piecu dienu Austrumāzijas tūri. Tās laikā viņš apmeklēja Malaiziju, kur piedalījās ASEAN organizācijas samitā, pēc tam viesojās Japānā un Dienvidkorejā. Kas attiecas uz Trampa un Sji tikšanos, eksperti atzīmē, ka tā bijusi pat pārsteidzoši īsa – vien stunda un četrdesmit minūtes; un tas, visdrīzāk, liecinot, ka runāts tikai par to, par ko jau iepriekš panāktas principiālas vienošanās. Kopumā sarunu rezultāts tiek raksturots kā „pamiers” tirdzniecības karā ar termiņu uz vienu gadu. Savienotās valstis piekritušas samazināt uz pusi to tarifa daļu importam no Ķīnas, kas tika noteikta kā sankcija par Ķīnā ražotās narkotiskās vielas fentanila kontrabandu uz Savienotajām Valstīm. Savukārt Pekina apņēmusies aktīvāk apkarot šo kontrabandu. Kopējais tarifs Ķīnas ražojumu importam tādējādi samazināsies no 57 uz 47 procentiem. Ķīnas tarifs amerikāņu preču importam 32 procentu apmērā paliks nemainīgs. Pekina piekritusi neieviest ierobežojumus piecu retzemju elementu eksportam uz ASV, kamēr ierobežojumi septiņām citām šīs kategorijas izejvielām, kas noteikti jau iepriekš, paliek spēkā. Tāpat Ķīna apņēmusies atsākt amerikāņu sojas pupiņu importu. Savukārt no prezidenta Trampa puses esot saņemti Pekinai cerīgi signāli, ka iespējama ierobežojumu mīkstināšana mākslīgā intelekta attīstībai svarīgo jaunākās paaudzes mikroshēmu eksportam uz Ķīnu; šos ierobežojumus noteica prezidenta Baidena administrācija. Protams, ne mazāka interese kā par tirdzniecības karu aizvadītās tikšanās sakarā ir interese par karu tiešā nozīmē – kā jau notiekošu, tā iespējamu. Kas attiecas uz iespējamu Ķīnas iebrukumu Taivānā, tas, kā pēc tikšanās apgalvoja Donalds Tramps, sarunās neesot pat pieminēts. Par Krievijas agresiju pret Ukrainu gan esot runāts, pie tam Ķīnas līderis solījis sastrādāties ar Vašingtonu, lai vairotu miera iespējamību. Grūti gan spriest, kā tas varētu izpausties. Tiek lēsts, ka gandrīz visas abu karojošo pušu kaujas lidrobotiem izmantotās mikroshēmas un optiskais kabelis ir ražots Ķīnā, Pekina patiešām varētu būt vienīgais spēks šai pasaulē, kas varētu reāli pieslāpēt karadarbību, pārtraucot šo sastāvdaļu piegādi karojošajām pusēm. Nekas gan neliecina, ka tā varētu notikt. Vēlēšanu rezultāti Nīderlandē Kārtējām parlamenta vēlēšanām Nīderlandē bija jānotiek 2028. gadā, taču premjerministra Dika Shofa vadītās koalīcijas valdības izjukšana šī gada jūnijā un citas koalīcijas izveides neiespējamība noteica to, ka nīderlandiešu elektorātam jau otro reizi pēc kārtas bija jābalso ārkārtas vēlēšanās. Demisionējušo kabinetu bezpartejiskā premjera Shofa vadībā izdevās izveidot gandrīz astoņus mēnešus pēc iepriekšējām vēlēšanām, kurās izcilus panākumus guva radikāli labējā, populistiskā „Partija brīvībai” ar Gērtu Vildersu priekšgalā. Koalīciju ar šiem radikāļiem piekrita veidot konservatīvi liberālā „Tautas partija brīvībai un demokrātijai”, lauku labējo populistu partija „Zemnieku pilsoņu kustība” un kristīgi demokrātiskā partija „Jaunais sociālais līgums”. Tomēr mērenāko koalīcijas partneru nostādnes izrādījās grūti savienojamas ar Vildersa partijas pieeju imigrācijas jautājumos, kas paģērēja pilnīgu moratoriju patvēruma meklētāju uzņemšanai. Šajās vēlēšanās labējo radikāļu cerības nepiepildījās – vairāk nekā ceturtdaļa vēlētāju balsu un, attiecīgi, 11 no 37 deputātu mandātiem „Partija brīvībai” gājuši zudībā. Vietu skaita ziņā Vildersa partiju panākusi kreisi centriskā, sociālliberālā partija „Demokrāti 66”. Ļoti nozīmīgi savas pozīcijas parlamentā uzlabojusi arī konservatīvā partija „Kristīgi demokrātiskais aicinājums”, un divas galēji labējās partijas – „JA21” (saīsinājums no nosaukuma „Pareizā atbilde – 21”) un „Forums demokrātijai”. Daļu mandātu zaudējot, tomēr lielāko partiju pirmajā četriniekā joprojām ir „Tautas partija brīvībai un demokrātijai” un agrākā eirokomisāra Fransa Timmermansa vadītā „Zaļo kreiso” un „Darba partijas” alianse, nozīmīgākais kreisais spēks parlamentā. Tā kā Nīderlandes vēlēšanu sistēma neparedz balsu skaita slieksni iekļūšanai parlamentā, tur ir vēl astoņas mazākas partijas ar mandātu skaitu no viena līdz četriem. Visloģiskākais koalīcijas modelis būtu plaša ap centru veidota kombinācija, kurā centriskie „Demokrāti 66” vienotos ar labējākajām partijām Kristīgi demokrātiskais aicinājums un Tautas partija brīvībai un demokrātijai no vienas, un kreiso Darba partijas un Zaļo kreiso aliansi no otras puses. Tomēr savilkt kopā šī politiski visai plašā spektra daļas nebūt nav vienkāršs uzdevums, tāpēc valdības izveide atkal var prasīt vairākus mēnešus. Eiropas Savienības paplašināšanās „telesamits” 4. novembrī Briselē risinājās savdabīgs notikums – telekanāls „EuroNews” bija pulcinājis uz samitu telekameru priekšā sešu Eiropas Savienības kandidātvalstu vadītājus, kā arī Eiropadomes priekšsēdētāju Antoniu Koštu un eirokomisāri paplašināšanās jautājumos, Slovēnijas pārstāvi Martu Kosu. Kandidātvalstis klātienē pārstāvēja Moldovas prezidente Maija Sandu, Serbijas prezidents Aleksandars Vučičs, Ziemeļmaķedonijas premjerministrs Hristijans Mickoskis un Melnkalnes ārlietu un Eiropas lietu vicepremjers Filips Ivanovičs, savukārt Ukrainas prezidents Volodimirs Zelenskis un Albānijas premjerministrs Edi Rama pieslēdzās samitam tiešsaistē. Notikums bija salāgots ar Eiropas Komisijas ziņojuma par kandidātvalstu iestāšanās procesa virzību publiskošanu, un tajā telekameru fokusā nonāca kandidātvalstu specifiskās problēmas, kuras citādi grūti izlobāmas no politisko dokumentu sausajām rindām. Protams, ar citiem nesalīdzināmas tās ir Ukrainai, kuras vēlme pievienoties Eiropas Savienībai bija galvenais iemesls Krievijas agresijai, kuru Ukraina izmisīgi atvaira jau divpadsmito gadu. Prezidents Zelenskis uzrunāja samita dalībniekus tiešsaistē no kādas nekonkretizētas vietas frontes tuvumā un veltīja nīgrus vārdus Ungārijas premjeram Viktoram Orbanam, kurš deklarējis, ka bloķēs Ukrainas iestāšanās centienus. Kremļa tieksmes taranēt iestāšanās procesu sajūt arī Moldova, kuru Krievija cenšas visiem līdzekļiem iekšēji destabilizēt un panākt sev draudzīgu spēku nākšanu pie varas. Par netīkamu ārējo ietekmi samitā runāja arī Ziemeļmaķedonijas premjers Mickoskis, kurai iestāšanas procesā apšaubāmas prasības izvirza tās savienībā jau esošā kaimiņvalsts Bulgārija. Tomēr vislielāko ievērību samitā izpelnījās par tā „melno avi” dēvētais Serbijas līderis Aleksandars Vučičs. Viņam nācās atbildēt uz daudziem neērtiem jautājumiem, sākot ar Serbijas īpašajām attiecībām ar Maskavu, beidzot ar protestiem, kuri viņa valstī nenorimst nu jau gadu. Protestu galvenā tēma ir korupcija, taču arī autoritārisma iezīmes pastāvošajā varā. Attiecīgi tiek pieprasīta ne vien korumpantu saukšana pie atbildības, bet arī ārkārtas parlamenta vēlēšanas un, tā kā starp protestētājiem ir īpaši daudz studentu, finansējuma palielināšana augstākajai izglītībai. Prezidents Vučičs šai situācijā turpina manipulēt, gan aizvācot no amatiem dažus korupcijā vainotos, gan sūtot pret demonstrantiem policiju un ar dažādiem sitamajiem bruņotus huligānus, kas, savukārt, izraisa protestētāju pretreakciju. Pēdējais vardarbības uzliesmojums bija augustā, kad sadursmēs un policistu brutālos uzbrukumos cieta vairāki desmiti cilvēku un demonstranti izdemolēja un aizdedzināja prezidenta Vučiča vadītās Serbijas progresīvās partijas, citu varas partiju un valsts institūciju birojus.

Te īpaši jāpiemin Palestīna - virkne valstu šajās dienās paziņojušas, ka atzīst Palestīnas valstiskumu. Otrs lielais temats ir Krievijas izaicinošā uzvedība. Vakar daudzus kārtējo reizi pārsteigusi Donalda Trampa mainīgā retorika, savukārt NATO apsprieda, ko darīt ar Krievijas lidaparātiem, kas arvien biežāk pārkāpj NATO valstu robežas, turklāt pieaug dažādi cita veida sabotāžas gadījumi.  Tāpat pēdējās dienās daudz runāts par vārda brīvību Savienotajās Valstīs pēc konservatīvā aktīvista Čārlija Kērka noslepkavošanas. Šis ir īpaši jūtīgs temats. Arvien biežāk medijiem nākas apsvērt, ko darīt, lai arī saglabātu raidīšanas licenci, bet nepazaudētu savu izteikšanās brīvību. Aktualitātes pasaulē komentē Latvijas Radio Ziņu dienesta vadītājs, Latvijas Ārpolitikas institūta pētnieks Uģis Lībietis, Eiropas kustības Latvijā prezidents Andris Gobiņš un Latvijas Sabiedriskā medija korespondente ASV Ina Strazdiņa. Palestīnas valstiskums bez ASV atbalsta “Palestīnas atzīšana ir dāvana „Hamās”,” – tā 23. septembrī no ANO tribīnes teica ASV prezidents Donalds Tramps par vairāku valstu lēmumu atzīt Palestīnas valsti ANO Ģenerālās asamblejas laikā. Kopumā Palestīnu šobrīd atzinušas vairāk nekā 150 pasaules valstis, un pēdējās dienās šim sarakstam pievienojušās Francija, Lielbritānija, Austrālija un Kanāda, kā arī virkne mazāku Eiropas valstu. Lai arī šis lēmums ir skaļš un arī vēsturisks, tomēr šie paziņojumi ir dziļi simboliski un saistīti ar arvien sarežģītāko civiliedzīvotāju situāciju Gazas joslā. Šo lēmumu mērķis ir nodrošināt, ka divu valstu risinājums turpina dzīvot. Izraēla uz šiem lēmumiem reaģēja nikni. Starp Telavivas amatpersonu paziņojumiem bija dzirdamas gan frāzes par to, ka nekādas Palestīnas nebūs, gan draudi anektēt Rietumkrastu kā atbildi šiem Rietumvalstu lēmumiem. Donalds Tramps turpina atbalstīt Izraēlu, kamēr eiropieši saka, ka Izraēlas stratēģija Gazā ir izgāzusies un cenšas parādīt diplomātiju kā alternatīvu scenāriju, lai pieliktu punktu gadu desmitu ilgajam konfliktam Tuvajos Austrumos. Jāpiebilst, ka šo soli atbalsta arī virkne arābu valstu, kas aicina „Hamās” teroristus nolikt ieročus un atdot tos Palestīnas pašpārvaldei. Par spīti arābu valstu atbalstam, analītiķi šo Francijas prezidenta Emanuela Makrona vadīto soli pretēji ASV vēlmēm sauc par riskantu.  Krievijas provokācijas rietumos pieaug Lai gan nav nekādu šaubu, ka Krievija kā ANO Drošības padomes pastāvīgā locekle nekad neļaus pieņemt kādus sev neizdevīgus lēmumus, tomēr Igaunija pirmo reizi vēsturē pirmdien, 22. septembrī, lūdza padomei izskatīt Krievijas rīcību, tai pārkāpjot Igaunijas gaisa telpu. Pagājušās nedēļas nogalē trīs Krievijas iznīcinātāji vairāk nekā 10 minūtes lidinājās Igaunijas teritorijā, nereaģējot uz Igaunijas gaisa satiksmes kontroles brīdinājumiem. Dažas stundas vēlāk divi iznīcinātāji ļoti zemu pārlidoja Polijas urbšanas platformu Baltijas jūrā, kas gan atrodas ārpus Polijas robežām. Otrdien pēc Igaunijas lūguma tika sasaukta NATO sēde, lai konsultētos par tālāko rīcību. Arī turpmāk ikviens lidojošs objekts, ja tas pārkāps valsts robežu, tiks notriekts – tā par savu izlēmību rīkoties paziņojis Polijas premjers Donalds Tusks, gan piebilstot, ka lidojums pār urbšanas platformu ir mazliet atšķirīgs stāsts. Tikmēr NATO konsultācijas vakar nekādu lielāku skaidrību nav viesušas. NATO turpināšot reaģēt uz Krievijas izaicinājumiem, citēju – „mūsu izvēlētajā veidā, laikā un jomā". Ko tas nozīmē, tas joprojām ir interpretācijas jautājums. Tiesa, ASV prezidents Donalds Tramps 23. septembrī presei atzina, ka, viņaprāt, NATO vajadzētu notriekt tās lidmašīnas, kas ielidojušas NATO valstu gaisa telpā.   Pēdējo nedēļu notikumi raisa arvien lielākas bažas par iespējamu vairāk vai mazāk negribētu, bet militāru sadursmi ar Krieviju. Tajā pašā laikā arvien biežāk var prognozēt provokācijas, kurās tiešā veidā vainot Krieviju nebūs iespējams, jo pirms tam jāveic izmeklēšana. Pirmdienas vakarā tika apturēta Kopenhāgenas lidostas darbība, bet otrdien no rīta to pašu piedzīvoja Oslo. Abu valstu lidostas teritorijā uzradās vairāki lielāka izmēra droni, kuri tur lidinājās, paralizējot lidmašīnu satiksmi. Šobrīd nav nekādu pārliecinošu pierādījumu, ka aiz šiem notikumiem stāv Krievija, tomēr līdzšinējie notikumi liek domāt tieši par šo. ASV vārda brīvības tumšā diena Vārda brīvība ASV bija viens no bieži piesauktajiem argumentiem pagājušajā gadā, kad abas partijas cīnījās par vēlētāju balsīm prezidenta un parlamenta vēlēšanās. Republikāņi un Donalds Tramps nekautrējās ar pārmetumiem demokrātiem, ka tie ierobežo noteiktu viedokļu paušanu, un virknei mediju, ka tie izplata melus un noklusē netīkamus viedokļus. Amerikā, atšķirībā no Eiropas, mediju polarizācija vienmēr ir bijusi normāla politikas sastāvdaļa, tāpēc arī pārmetumi plašsaziņas līdzekļiem, kas simpatizē pretējās nometnes politikai, nav nekas jauns. Tomēr pēdējā laika notikumi Savienotajās Valstīs ir līdz šim sen nepieredzēti. Amerikāņi vienmēr lepojušies, ka viņu valstī cenzūra nepastāv, un ikviens, tajā skaitā prezidents, ir kritizējams un parodējams, biežāk pat vairāk nekā citi. Tāpēc ziņas, ka valdošā vara varētu aizslēgt kādu no medijiem vai raidījumiem, daudziem liekas kaut kas ārpus pieņemamā. Vēstījums, ka viena no nacionālajām televīzijas kompānijām ABC pārtrauc Amerikā populāra šova rādīšanu, jo raidījuma vadītājs bija negatīvi izteicies par valdošo MAGA (Make America Great Again) kustību, daudzviet tika uztverta ar lielu satraukumu. Šī nav pirmā reize kopš Trampa nākšanas pie varas, kad runa ir par kāda raidījuma slēgšanu vai finansējuma atņemšanu medijiem. Taču šoreiz rezonanse izrādījās īpaši liela. Runa ir par Džimija Kimela vakara sarunu šovu, kurā raidījuma vadītājs bija vairakkārt kritiski izteicies par konservatīvo amerikāņu reakciju uz Čārlija Kērka slepkavību. Kimels ēterā sacīja, ka MAGA aktīvisti mēģina uz šīs slepkavības rēķina sev nopelnīt politisko kapitālu. Pēc raidījuma Federālās komunikāciju komisijas priekšsēdētājs Brendans Kars paziņoja, ka ABC filiālēm, kas pārraida Kimela šovu, tiks anulēta licence. Dažas stundas vēlāk uzņēmums "Nexstar", viens no valsts lielākajiem ABC filiāļu staciju īpašniekiem, paziņoja, ka Kimela šovu savās stacijās neraidīs. Un pēc tam raidstacija izplatīja paziņojumu, ka šovs tiek atcelts vispār. Lēmums izraisīja plašu reakciju. Vairāk nekā 430 kino, televīzijas un skatuves zvaigznes, kā arī komiķi, režisori un rakstnieki parakstīja Amerikas Pilsonisko brīvību savienības atklāto vēstuli, kurā Kimela šova apturēšana tika atzīta par ASV vārda brīvības tumšāko dienu. Starp parakstītājiem ir tādas Holivudas zvaigznes kā Merila Strīpa, Roberts De Niro, Bens Afleks un Toms Henkss. Acīmredzot, televīzijas kompānija šādu reakciju negaidīja. Pirmdien ABC paziņoja, ka atsāks Kimela šova pārraidīšanu. "Mēs pēdējās dienas esam aizvadījuši izsvērtās sarunās ar Džimiju, un pēc šīm sarunām esam nonākuši pie lēmuma otrdien atsākt viņa šovu,"  tā teikts paziņojumā presei. Vakar, 23. septembrī, šova pirmajam raidījumam pēc atgriešanās bija pievērsta milzīga uzmanība. Tajā pašā laikā virkne vietējo filiāļu joprojām ir atteikušās translēt šovu savā programmā, tā vietā izvēloties rādīt kaut ko neitrālāku.
