I am Vyshun, and I welcome you to The Lucid Experience. Here I take you on a journey in my life. As I find peace in all things, I remember one thing: "Journeys of Peace Start With An Open Mind." Lifestyle | Travel | Growth
"Blackness remains the coat you can't take off." - Clint Smith When it comes to black culture, we focus on the differences between us so much we fail to realize how much we truly have in common. Here I discuss the differences between certain aspects of black culture and how comparison of it can be the thief of the indescribable joy of being black. Although "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" is fictitious, the issues shown in these episodes are very real. One of the main characters, Carlton Banks, goes through a journey throughout the show maturing and learning about how blackness benefits him.. and how it could sometimes be to his detriment. Although he has the best character development in my opinion, he is often associated with negative stereotypes when it comes to being "Black enough" or "Good enough" as a person. Here I go into depth and give you an up close and personal view of why I believe many in our culture hate Carlton.. and why I respect and can relate to him so very much. "There are endings and there are beginnings. You must learn to embrace both." -Reyna BiddyChange is uncomfortable, but it promotes growth if focused on the right path. 10 Years ago, I left everything I knew in New York to move to a state that I had been in only for vacations. I thought everything was for loss since I knew no one down here besides relatives. Little did I know that it was the clean slate I needed to start my life. 10 Years later... I look back on a few things and a recent situation that brings it all home. I also give flowers to those whom deserve them. "And I saw for the first time how, despite the isolation of our own lives, we are always connected to our ancestors; our bodies hold the memories of those who came before us, whether it is the features we inherit or a disposition that is etched into our soul." ~ Alyson RichmanGoing a bit more introspective here and thinking in hindsight, I look back at decisions I made and come to a realization: We as a generation are not moving right. As many advances as we've made, we're still way behind in many aspects of intangibles that will carry us through the years to come. Welcoming my early 30s, I'm beginning to see why the word "NO" was said so much in my life, and I'm thankful. Instead of fighting advice, I now welcome it more than ever because sooner than later, I'll be the old head giving game to the youngins... Here I talk to the generation before me. "Lessons not learned in blood are soon forgotten." - Gerard ButlerIt's been two years since the world went into a state of the unknown. Everything changed... Here we stand 2 years after what we see to be the biggest reset the world has ever seen. Will we ever be normal again? This episode goes into that and also into the lessons learned during this time. Several lessons were picked out from others and are used here too.
"Nothing threatens a corrupt system more than a free mind." - Suzy KassemI n order to continue finding Clarity Amidst The Clouds, I needed to find clarity within my life and purpose. "Time flies, but not memories."- Ika Natassa.Let's take a break from serious talk and go down memory lane...We all have had our times in life where special moments were made, and it's rare that it happens all in one environment. In this special episode I talk about how my college time at my alma mater helped shape me into being some of the man that I am today. I asked and was sent reflections from people close to me in school and read them in real time.I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did recording it.
Views From The Night Sky will be about a series of dreams I have and finding out the meaning behind them. This is the first episode of that series. So I had a dream... I promise you on everything I did not feel the same afterwards. Here I go into detail about what happened. Dreams really do tell you a lot about yourself, I must say.
It could all be so simple.. Why do we overcomplicate things? Here I find some clarity amidst clouds by giving detail on how the smallest gestures done for your loved one can make all the difference in your relationship.
Clubhouse has gotten a lot of flack for all the drama caused within our culture. I found some benefits from it though. In this episode, I talk about how throughout my year on it the connections made through Clubhouse inspired The Lucid Experience to be born. I also give flowers(honorable mentions) to those I got close with from the app.
Originally, the first episode was on YouTube. I didn't like it, so I said start this whole thing over. I go over some of the things that I learned from debuting the podcast when I did.I took a personal hiatus because I felt my mind wasn't in the right place. After a few weeks, things started to change.Recorded late at night, I finally got some creative energy back. I had some things to get off my chest based off recent events that happened in my and my friends lives. It sets the tone for how I move going forward. This was an impromptu podcast that shows me telling what's on my mind at the time. Enjoy the thoughts of my random mind.
