Bucs-Jets Joint Practice Turns ChaoticRick Stroud recaps a joint practice between the Buccaneers and Jets that devolved into roughly six bench-clearing fights. The flashpoint: linebacker Luke Goedeke, who had been jawing with Jets rookie first-rounder David Bailey, appeared to take a cheap shot from another player and responded by ripping a helmet off an opponent's head and hurling it 15-20 yards downfield — an act Stroud says would draw an ejection and 15-yard penalty in a real game. Stroud expresses frustration that officials on hand didn't remove him, and that head coach Todd Bowles said he didn't personally witness the incident. Stroud draws a contrast to the Tony Dungy era, recalling how Dungy once sent Hardy Nickerson off the practice field for fighting. Despite the chaos, both hosts agree the underlying competitiveness was a positive sign, and note that team leaders eventually stepped in to calm things down. They expect calmer emotions at the next joint session, with coaches likely warning players against retaliatory penalties.Offensive Line Concerns Without WirfsWith All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs still out, Stroud says the drop-off is stark. He references last season's five-game stretch without Wirfs as evidence of how much the offense suffers. Elsewhere, the offense looked mixed — Bucky Irving ran well, Baker Mayfield mixed strong and shaky throws — while the defense dominated, generating multiple takeaways including a pick-six from Anzalone.
