On this episode we discuss the importance and need for churches to re-open. While this can be a controversial topic our prayer is that we can have an open honest discussion on what is happening. The reality is casinos, abortion clinics, marijuana dispensary, big box stores like Costco, Walmart, and Home Depot are being held to a different standard than the church is. I don't know about you, but to me that is a problem. Studies are coming out showing depression is up, abuse is up, marital issues are up, alcohol and drug intake is up, and calls to suicide hotlines are up. It's time for the church to stand up and open up it's doors. We need hope more than ever, we need Jesus more than ever, we need preaching more than ever, we need the Bible and we need community. Right now there is so much happening in the world that it can completely consume us and potentially have us living in fear. 2020 has been packed with one thing after another from COVID-19, quarantine, protests, riots, violence, destruction, business closures and now a coin shortage? It makes us wonder what's next. I personally have experienced countless late nights on the internet searching for answers to what is happening and trying to make sense of the things that are just not adding up that I realized I was allowing the world to consume me and that I needed to shift my focus back to God. On this episode we discuss the power of influence we have within our homes. We influence our spouse and children on a daily basis by our actions and words. Troy shares how I influenced him when I chose to go to Celebrate Recovery to seek help and how that made him self reflect and ultimately how it saved our marriage. And while we were in a tough season and as I learned what a healthy marriage actually looked liked I realized I was not kind with the way I spoke to my husband and even though that was what I saw growing up, does not make it right. Wives we need to uplift and encourage our husbands and husbands we need to uplift and encourage our wives.  As a parent we have a huge influence in our children's lives. For 18 years they will watch us, listen to us, and emulate us. Children are going to do what we do, and not what we say. Not only do we influence our children's growth as an individual, but we also have an influence on what they will look for in a spouse when they grown up. So think about it, what have you taught your son or daughter today by your actions to look for in a future spouse? Be mindful of what you are teaching your children and how you are influencing them. If you fail to grow in your relationship with your spouse, you may soon feel like you no longer love them because they are no longer the person you fell in love with when you first dated and got married. It is vital to your relationship to grow together and allow the change to help you grow closer rather than apart. Change will come, it's inevitable. Growth will naturally occur within a person and within a relationship. The key is to allow these changes and growth draw you closer to each other and closer to the Lord. Priorities we talk about them a lot, but do we really understand them? On this episode we discuss what it means to prioritize your marriage. Prioritizing your marriage doesn't mean you have to put all of your energy into your marriage every hour of every day, it means finding ways to connect with your spouse on a daily basis and scheduling time together for just the two of you. Did you know that we all view and respond to money differently? I am sure we can all agree that this is a tough topic to tackle. We share the four different money languages that help us to understand how our partner views and sees money. There is no right or wrong it's just how we see money. I share personally my struggle with tithing and how I was able to go from cringing inside to being the one who now tithes. We discuss how the need or lack of control has impacted our marriage and how dangerous expectations can be. While sometimes it is easy to identify when you are acting in a controlling way or placing expectations, not all are are so easily identified. I discovered that I was placing my own childhood hurts on my children, not to be controlling, but to protect them. While my intentions were good, I needed to allow my kids to experience life and not place my hurts on them.
