It's King Kong vs. Chris & Dylan as Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan take on the latest movie featuring the titular ape: Kong: Skull Island. Things get slightly heated but not really as we discuss the movie's tone, how it stands as a monster movie, and why using Apocalypse Now as a framework for a King Kong movie works and doesn't work. Chris also saw the new film The Assignment (formerly titled (Re)assignment), which has Michelle Rodriguez play a male assassin who is changed into a female against her will. So yeah, plenty to say about that. There's a bunch of Blu-ray releases this week too, including our pick of the week, Mondo's steelbook release of Ghost in the Shell. We also cover the reactions out of SXSW, including movies like Baby Driver, Atomic Blonde and Song to Song. So find out if we care about another Terrence Malick movie. Next week, we will return with a review of The Devil's Candy. Film Fallout is a weekly podcast about film and television. Every week, Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan discuss news happening in the industry, blu-ray releases coming out this week, what they’ve been watching, and then a review of one movie. You can listen to it on SoundCloud, iTunes, or on BagoGames. Also follow us on Instagram for some behind-the-scenes magic. We are both on Twitter, if you’d like to follow us there. Chris is @HammerkopCross, Dylan is @DreaminDylanS, and you can follow the podcast @Filmfalloutcast. And finally, there is a Facebook page for the podcast if you'd like to 'like' us on that.
