Lev Fer is back for part two of this show and has never seen the Pam and Tommy sex tape. It's Jay and Bob's duty as older brothers to the youngster to show him the historical footage. After Tommy blows the boat horn with his body part, the conversation turns to dating. Christine asks if they have ever not taken a women to a comedy club on the first date. Bobby would take ladies to the Comedy Cellar as a test to see if they were loyal. Jay doesn't feel comfortable outside of a stand-up vibe where his superpowers are strong. *To hear the full show to go www.siriusxm.com/bonfire to learn more! Why hasn’t The Sound of Music been remade? That question makes us ponder the rules that determine which Hollywood properties can be recycled indefinitely and which apparently must remain untouched. Movie scenes and celebrity anecdotes keep complicating the distinction between cultural treasure and something people simply like for no good reason. Someone made proposal that Dolly Parton needs to be a saint, a proposal that's problematic on it's own terms but doubly probIematic when the proposition comes from an atheist. If canonization worked by popular vote, celebrities would arrive with ready-made constituencies, because fame has a way of turning reputation into evidence of virtue. Popular celebrities are assigned virtues by their fans. The focus widens to another cultural achievement: convincing people to buy things that are readily available for free. Water, dirt, coffee, and other everyday products become examples of what happens when marketing convinces us to pay a premium price for bargain level items. By the time the Hollywood Walk of Fame enters the discussion, movies, sainthood, products, and celebrity status are all running on surprisingly similar rules. A classic film can become too revered to remake, Dolly Parton can accumulate saintly credentials through public affection, and water or dirt can acquire value through presentation—while Hollywood puts famous names into the sidewalk and lets everybody walk on them.
A long run can be tough, but this week proves it can also be downright ridiculous: surprise humidity, shaky confidence, and yes, a flying insect that turns one runner into an unwilling protein experiment. We share real training updates for the ramp-up to Wine and Dine and Marathon Weekend, including why “trust the process” is more than a slogan when the miles start to bite. We also talk practical hot-weather strategy, from carrying fluids to testing electrolytes, and what we're noticing after trying Hydro Patch on long runs (helpful, not magic, and definitely not a replacement for water). Then we bring on our guest, Devin Siebold, the former educator turned stand-up comedian behind the viral Theme Park Comedians content. Devin tells the story of leaving the classroom, what comedy taught him about people, and why laughter is often a signal of safety when life feels heavy. If you love Disney World, Epcot, Broadway references, and sharp Disney-adult humor, his behind-the-scenes look at writing and filming in the parks is a blast. We also dig into Devin's runDisney journey, favorite race memories, and why fundraising bibs matter to him, including St. Jude's and No Kid Hungry. From a Tower of Terror fear challenge done for charity to the little details that make race weekends unforgettable, this conversation hits both the heart and the funny bone.If you're enjoying the show, subscribe so you never miss a training-season boost, share the episode with a runDisney friend, and leave us a quick review to help more runners find the Rise and Run community.Send us Fan MailSupport the showRise and Run Podcast is supported by our audience. Are you as obsessed as I am with the dumbest headlines of the week? Well, you're in luck! I've got comedian and pop culture whisperer Rachel LaForce on to break down what Spencer Pratt's mayoral run, the $250 Trump bill, and trad wife content filmed at Home Goods actually say about the rest of us. Rachel got sober by accident, spent decades masking her neurodivergence, and built her whole show around one idea: comedy gets you to the truth faster than seriousness does. This is a fast, sharp, occasionally unhinged hour that somehow keeps landing on self-belief. Notable timestamps: 03:57 – The UFC fight on the White House lawn, and how "healing is hilarious" started as Rachel's own recovery philosophy 12:08 – How she got sober "on accident" during a breakup, and never went back 16:57 – The push-yourself-out-of-the-pool metaphor for knowing you're actually ready for change 20:02 – Spencer Pratt's mayoral run and the self-belief lesson hiding inside it 23:38 – Why she thinks billionaires are boring, and her case for an abundance mindset 27:54 – MacKenzie Scott, Jeff Bezos, and the gender dynamics of wealth 31:45 – Her actual rule for what's fair game to joke about, and why trad wife content makes her sad instead of snarky 37:36 – Cortisol dressing, dopamine dressing, and how marketing invents things to sell women 43:36 – Where to find Rachel and what's next for Healing is Hilarious Rachel LaForce, resources and links: Healing is Hilarious podcast: https://www.rachellaforce.com/podcast Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6jliDvkqHQFXyfx9Qh0lr4 Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-rachel-laforce-show/id1600838616 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@therachellaforce Rachel's website: https://www.rachellaforce.com/ Follow Rachel on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rachellaforce/ Follow Healing is Hilarious on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/healingishilarious/ Skewed Orbit Studios: https://www.skewedorbitstudios.com/ Be sure to rate, review, and follow this podcast on your player and also, connect with me IRL for more goodness and life-changing stuff.Schedule a FREE podcast clarity call with me - Your future audience is out there. On this episode, Heather is panicked after the passing of Dolly Parton and Tim Curry and is worried about who will be next. On this episode of Shabbat Dinner Party, we return to the imaginary Shabbat Dinner Table. Neil Spears talks about how to rid ourselves of the ‘tyranny of always having to produce.' Gefelteria's Jeffrey Yoskowitz and Liz Alpern return to the kitchen to teach Kate how to braid challah, a centerpiece of the Shabbat dinner table that carries layers of memory from the ancient practice of setting aside a portion of dough as an offering to the two loaves that recall the double portion of manna gathered before Shabbat in the wilderness. Finally, Comedian and Writer Eliot Glazer talks about how Judaism's become more complicated in the past few years, and how we think about the spiritual-but-not-religious perspective. Comedian Mark Normand sits down with Bobby for a wide-ranging conversation about life on the road, becoming a new dad, and why he still approaches comedy like he has something to prove. What happens when Hollywood never comes knocking?Comedian, filmmaker, podcaster, and longtime Jimmy Kimmel collaborator Don Barris shares the unconventional journey that eventually led to the cult comedy Windy City Heat. After leaving Michigan for California, Don struggled through stand-up, lived in his car for extended periods, and spent years developing his own comedy projects rather than waiting for Hollywood to discover him. That persistence eventually connected him with Jimmy Kimmel and helped transform an unusual Comedy Store concept into one of the strangest cult comedies ever produced. Don also takes us behind the scenes of Windy City Heat, revealing how its elaborate real-life prank was constructed and why unpredictable reactions created filmmaking challenges unlike those of a traditional feature.Beyond the insanity of Windy City Heat, this conversation offers practical lessons for filmmakers and creators trying to build careers outside the traditional Hollywood system. Don discusses the importance of creating your own opportunities, developing long-term industry relationships, using podcasts and digital platforms to build an audience, and turning that audience into leverage for larger creative projects. From Jimmy Kimmel championing the movie to Quentin Tarantino, Eli Roth, and Jack Black discovering the film, Don's journey demonstrates how unconventional work can develop a life far beyond its original release—and why filmmakers shouldn't depend entirely on gatekeepers to determine whether their projects get made.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/indie-film-hustle-a-filmmaking-podcast--2664729/support.

THIS IS AN OLD EPISODE FROM 2024. In case you have managed to randomly find your way here, Hi! I'm Rachel LaForce. I am a Comedian and Cultural Commentator. My show Healing is Hilarious is about Connecting the Headlines to Human Behavior. However - this past week - this human got really sick and I was in bed all week - SO! Enjoy this evergreen episode from 2024.What I LOVE about evergreen messages is well - they're always in season. The messages from 2024 echo now with where we're at energetically and collectively. There is no going back to who we were. We see clearly now - dare I say because the rain is gone. LOLZ. No, don't go - please stay. American Culture LOVES confidence. We have sayings like "fake it til you make it", we love Beyonce, Kris Jenner and not taking no for an answer - (yikes - well - that is a different episode entirely!). MOVING ON!I believe that asking people to be confident isn't the strongest skill for life. I believe that building a sense of self trust. of CAPABILITY will take you way farther than confidence. Because you won't always feel confident when you're doing something for the first time - or in this case - when you are actively taking the steps to walk away from a life that you've outgrown and step into the life you can't stop dreaming about. Capability is the belief and skill that no matter the task - you will make it because you're capable of great things even if you aren't confidence int hat skill, task or lifestyle yet. Capability says - I trust myself. It's a new dawn, it's a new day and self help isn't for the weak. You got this! Stay in the game baby! We need you. I will be back next Monday with a brand new HEALING IS HILARIOUS breaking down all of the best headlines and reaching for the pattern behind the story because well the headline is rarely the full story - it's a mirror. Tune out, tune in. Love you, mean it!

This week, the crew kicks things off with a new studio setup before Mason unleashes on one of his greatest enemies: cyclists taking over country roads. Are bicycles entitled to the road, or should spandex warriors be restricted to bike lanes and 25 MPH neighborhoods? Things escalate quickly. From there, the conversation gets even stranger. The guys revisit classic Colt 45 and St. Ides malt liquor commercials, including Billy Dee Williams' legendary "works every time" advertising and the absolutely insane era when rappers were selling malt liquor on TV. They also remember sneaking their first tastes of beer, liquor and black coffee as kids — and immediately wondering why adults willingly drank any of it. Then comes the smell nobody wants: Mike's encounter with a porta-potty cleaning operation and the dreaded "duty mist." Somehow, that leads to burning research monkeys, getting smuggled onto job sites without a badge, hiding in a car trunk for work, and more questionable employment stories. Mike also explains exactly why he does NOT want another dog, triggering a full debate about dogs in the house, pets on furniture, cats walking across kitchen counters, irresponsible pet ownership, Cane Corsos, piranhas and the enormous responsibility that comes with owning an animal. It's exactly what you've come to expect from the rickety ship: ridiculous stories, arguments, nostalgia, questionable opinions and three friends finding the funny side of life.

The show also covered Jay-Z’s latest courtroom win after a long-running paternity dispute was dismissed, with reports indicating the case was closed with prejudice and legal fees awarded in his favor, bringing another chapter of the years-long legal battle to an end. The entertainment conversation stayed lively as comedian Benji Brown joined the crew to discuss his role in The Varnell Hill Show, the highly anticipated Martin spinoff arriving on Paramount+ nearly 30 years after Tommy Davidson’s character first appeared on the classic sitcom. Brown also reflected on touring with Martin Lawrence and working alongside a star-studded cast. Meanwhile, Gary With Da Tea unpacked the online reaction to Keke Palmer’s 33rd birthday celebration after photos surfaced showing her partying with Justin and Christian Combs, sparking debate across social media. Anthony Hopkins needed a copy of The Girl from Petrovka to prepare for a movie role, but none of the major London bookstores he tried had one. Then, while waiting for a train at Leicester Square Underground station, he spotted the exact novel sitting abandoned on a seat. Months earlier, author George Feifer had lost one very particular copy of that book somewhere else in London, and when the two men finally compared notes, an already improbable coincidence became almost impossible. We tell the full story in this episode and then play the Yap Yap Quiz with Comedian, Glen Tickle! Arj Barker! Comedian! Actor! Friend! Delight! More! Arj's new comedy album The Mind Field is out now from Blonde Medicine! We have a great talk and you can have a great listen! ABOUT ARJ BARKER: Barker started his comedy career in the 90s as a dare but quickly dropped out of college to focus on the craft. Through the years he developed his distinct performance style, characterized by heavy sarcasm, absurd logic, and a stage persona that blends unwavering confidence with hilarious ignorance. After 35 years of late-night stand-up sets, acting and writing for the stage and on TV, and headlining shows of all sizes, he remains a beloved, globe-trotting powerhouse in the contemporary comedy landscape. On The Mind Field, Arj Barker encourages the audience to reflect on questions insufficiently explored by science: What is consciousness? Is it stored in the brain or is there a bigger reality somewhere beyond our minds? "Having lost my best friend quite suddenly a few years ago, these questions took on more urgency, and this stand up that formed around that." says Arj. On the album he also explores equally important topics like meditation, masturbation, and travelling over an hour to eat mediocre pizza. Barker wraps up the album with a song about drinking too much coffee in Australia, which he brings to life with a harmonica, inspiring the audience to sing along. MORE ABOUT ARJ BARKER: Acclaimed stand-up comedian and actor Arj Barker's early career took shape in San Francisco during the early 90s, where he hosted a regular open-mic night at Café Nuvo. His breakthrough arrived in 1997 when he won the prestigious Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He became a frequent fixture on late-night TV, making multiple stand-up appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Show, and The Late Show with David Letterman. He has hosted many Comedy Central Presents specials, co-written and starred in the Off-Broadway parody show The Marijuana-Logues in 2004 and joined the cast of the hit HBO sitcom Flight of the Conchords in 2007. For decades Barker has been a headline regular and record-breaking ticket seller at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Adelaide Fringe. Now living in Australia, Barker has achieved monumental status as an adopted superstar there. His widespread appeal across Oceania has been bolstered by regular appearances on major Australian television programs such as Thank God You're Here, Rove, and Spicks and Specks. He has released several top-selling comedy albums and live specials, including the ARIA award winning DVD Organic and co-wrote and starred in The Nut Farm in 2024. FOR EVEN MORE ABOUT ARJ BARKER...
