In this very special predictions and speculation episode, hosts David, Jordan, and returning host Patrick Knisely do their best to map out what we know and what we expect to happen with the Switch 2 and Nintendo in 2026. Is it finally time for Star Fox to make its grand comeback? Has enough time passed from Donkey Kong Bananza that we'll see a new 3D mario game? What about the 40th and 30th anniversaries of The Legend of Zelda and Pokemon? Tune in to find out our thoughts! It's our end of year celebration and this time we've got a massive show! First, we kick things off with a trivia segment that has some big stakes. Then we get into our annual awards show with a variety of topics including what was the most shameful thing The Beats Crew has done in 2025. After that, we get into individual picks for our top 5 games of the year, followed by a dive into the stats of all the games we played as shared by Sony (what gives Microsoft and Nintendo - no year in review?) and also stats that we logged ourselves. As if that weren't enough, we also cover the results of our Fantasy Critic video game fantasy draft league and announce the big winner for 2025. Wait, still more?? Lastly we choose the 10 games that define The Beat of the Month podcast for a nice bookend down memory lane. Wow - it's a lot of content! It's been a fun 2025 and we are looking forward to more episodes in 2026. Stay tuned for our 2026 fantasy draft where we'll be taking a look at all the games coming out next year and picking our roster that we think will review well (and hopefully keep on track for release!). If YOU have any ideas for a topic we should tackle for 2026, please send us an email at beatofthemonth@gmail.com. We'd love to hear from you!

I liked a lot about Cyberpunk 2077--from the side missions to the combat to the visuals and plenty more-- but the character of Johnny Silverhand and the performance of Keanu Reeves was not one of them. This wouldn't have been a big problem if he wasn't such a crucial part of the main story, but he is and can't help but show up all of the time, so I couldn't help but only like Cyberpunk 2077 when I thought I was going to love it. Anyway and as always, thank you for watching or listening, I hope you enjoy this here episode, and I hope you have a wonderful wonderful rest of your day. (And if you haven't already, or are a listener and not a watcher, please like, subscribe, hit the bell, and all that jazz; it may not seem like much, but it goes a long way in helping support the show and site in general. I would appreciate it greatly.)

Come: Deliverance IISplit FictionCitizen Sleeper 2: Starward VectorAssassin's Creed ShadowsSouth of Midnight FoundationRosewaterOld SkiesThe First Berserker KhazanClair Obscur: Expedition 33Bionic BayThe Midnight Walk Doom: The Dark AgesKathy Rain 2: SoothsayerTainted Grail: The Fall of AvalonRune Factory: Guardians of AzumaMonster Train 2Blue PrinceCast n ChillDeath Stranding 2: On the BeachKARMA: The Dark WorldDonkey Kong BananzaWUCHANG: Fallen FeathersThe King is WatchingThe DrifterMonster Hunter WildsSHINOBI: Art of VengeanceSword of the SeaHollow Knight: SilksongGhost of Yōtei Hell is UsHades 2Trails in the Sky the 1st Chapter BALL x PITThe Lonesome GuildArc RaidersCloverPitAnno 117: Pax RomanaThe Outer Worlds 2Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch TreeAge of Darkness: Final StandNecesseTempest RisingSilent Hill fOctopath Traveler 0DispatchSektori----------------------------Hörs i GOTY!

As 2025 comes to a close, Eammonn Dignam reflects on a year that changed the industry. We analyze the record-breaking launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 , which brought us Mario Kart World and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, all while celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Mushroom Kingdom's hero. We discuss the shifting of the guard as Doug Bowser retires as President of Nintendo of America, succeeded by Devon Pritchard. The show also dives into the "AA" miracle: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 winning Game of the Year on a budget under $10 million. Finally, we break down the end-of-year controversy surrounding Arc Raiders , its shift to a premium $40 model, and Tim Sweeney's defense of its AI-voiced characters. Learn more about your ad choices. On this week's episode of the Wayspotters Podcast, Jamal and Chris hit rewind on 2025 and take a month-by-month look at how Wayfarer really changed — not just through updates and announcements, but through reviewer behavior, community strategy, and shifting trust in the system. This isn't a “Niantic did this” or “Scopely did that” episode. It's about us — the reviewers, nominators, veterans, and newcomers who adapted as the rules stayed mostly the same, but the reality around them didn't. In Part 1, we cover January through June 2025, including: Reviewer fatigue and growing inconsistency early in the year How supporting info, upgrades, and edits quietly lost trust The moment skepticism replaced benefit-of-the-doubt Community adaptation through Discords, strategy sharing, and mentorship The impact of Niantic's games business being acquired by Scopely Think of this episode as the Wayfarer yearbook — fewer signatures, more opinions. Here's what we're talking about: Why 2025 felt different in Wayfarer — even before anything officially changed Reviewer fatigue, inconsistency, and the rise of “will this pass?” thinking How supporting information became the real battleground The growing distrust in edits, upgrades, and appeals When skepticism replaced benefit-of-the-doubt How the community adapted through strategy, Discords, and peer leadership The ripple effects of Niantic's games business being acquired by Scopely Show Credits Hosts: Jamal Harvey & Chris Bell Writer: Jamal Harvey Producer: Jamal Harvey Executive Producer: Kate Konz Show Historian: Matty G Recorded: December 23, 2025 Published: December 28, 2025 Season 4, Episode 51 Contact Us wayspotters@pokemonprofessor.com Voicemail / SMS: 704-426-3710 Support the Show Patreon: patreon.com/PokemonProfessor Website: wayspotters.com Follow!
