Is your unspoken trauma holding you back from success? Today, I'm so excited to speak with Powerhouse OG, Taylor Wray, the founder of Awakening Sol. Taylor is someone who truly embodies the healing journey in a way that I know will inspire and awaken you—wherever you may be in yours. She opens up about how she went from abusing drugs at just 13-years-old, to her experiences navigating loss in rehab, to now thriving as her fully aligned self. We talk about the impact of trauma on the way we show up in our lives and our businesses, and how patterns developed during our childhood continue well into our adulthood (whether we realize it or not!). Taylor also shares a much-needed destigmatized lens for detaching your identity from the success of your business, unwinding deep, subconscious patterns, and accessing healing in a way that resonates with you. HIGHLIGHTS 00:00 Meet an OG of Powerhouse Women + the founder of Awakening Sol, Taylor Wray! 04:40 What keeps you going during moments of hardship? 06:05 Where did your path to healing begin? 15:20 The moment that changed the trajectory of Taylor's healing journey. 21:45 What misunderstanding keeps us from fully healing? 24:25 Understanding and processing trauma—without the stigma. 31:35 How patterns developed during childhood show up in our adulthood. 37:10 How do you peel back deep-seeded patterns? 42:00 Ways to grow beyond our conditioning as entrepreneurs. 49:05 Practices for detaching your identity from the success of your business. 52:00 What was the catalyst to reinvest in yourself? 1:02:15 Celebrating Taylor's Powerhouse moment of pushing through fear to launch her teacher training. We're back with Episode 93 of the Camerosity Podcast! This time, we've altered our recording time to better suit those of our listeners across the pond who are normally sleeping when we record at our usual time. For this 'European time zone friendly' episode, we welcome special guest, collector, and author John Wade who has written or contributed to more than 30 books, including a couple which I have relied on for several of my camera reviews. In addition to John, we were joined by callers Brian MacDomhnaill from Ireland, Fernando Villava from Germany, Guy from Germany, Leon Blankenhorn from Germany, and domestic callers Miles Libak and Andrew Madsen. And of course we had our regular hosts, Anthony Rue, Stephen Strangways, and our time zone friendly recording time also allowed Paul Rybolt to join us who has been vacationing in Ireland for the past month. As this episode was recorded at 4am in Sydney, we gave Theo the day off. With John's expertise, we spent a lot of time talking about Britain's only 35mm SLR, the Wrayflex. As the author of the only specialized book on the Wrayflex and the company who made it, John has a fascinating level of knowledge on this attractive and quirky camera. In addition to Wray, we spent a lot of time talking about clockwork cameras, you know, those cameras that have a spring tensioned wind up film advance mechanism. We discussed a wide variety of models from the very first wind up camera, the Japy Le Pascal, Ansco No.1A Automatic Ansco, and later cameras like the Debrie Sept, Bell & Howell Foton, Canon Dial, Ansco Auto Half, GOMZ Leningrad, and others. We briefly talk about the British Leica copy, the Reid and Sigrist Reid camera and the American equivalent the Premiere Instrument Kardon, among other popular British cameras. In addition to John's contributions, Paul shares with us another 617 camera he's got his eye on, Brian tells a tale about lenses he thinks he needs and never uses, Mike shares an uncommon German camera he recently GASsed over, Guy brags about all his working Rollei A110s, the brightness of the Olympus Pen F's viewfinder, and we go around the room asking which cameras each of us have the most duplicates of. As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you! Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show. We LOVE people who are into shooting or collecting cameras, no matter how long you've been doing it, so please don't consider your knowledge level to be a prerequisite for joining! The guys and I rarely know where each episode is going to go until it happens, so if you'd like to join us on a future episode, be sure to look out for our show announcements on our Camerosity Podcast Facebook page, the Camerosity Discord server, and right here on mikeeckman.com. We usually record every other Monday and announcements, along with the Zoom link are typically shared 2-3 days in advance. For our next episode, we are going back to our regular recording time and will be welcoming Meredith and Corey Reinker from Roberts Camera/Used Photo Pro in Indianapolis, Indiana to share with us their stories selling vintage cameras on eBay and in a well established retail environment. We may welcome some callers from other camera stores too, but you'll just have to join us to see who calls in! We will record Episode 94 on Monday, June 16th at 7pm Central Daylight Time and 8pm Eastern Daylight Time. In This Episode Henry Scherer Passed Away / Mike Doesn't Know the Difference Between Ireland and Scotland Retro Cameras / What Motivated John Wade to Start Writing About Cameras John Wade's A Wrayflex Story / John Researched That Book by Interviewing People Who Used to Work There Early Wrayflex Prototypes / John Does YouTube Videos on Amateur Photographer's Channel Reid and Sigrist Leica Copies / Premier Instrument Kardon Leica Copy Kodak Brownies and Instamatics Were as Ubiquitous in England as in the US Many British Kodak Cameras Looked Different Than Their US Counterparts / 120 vs 620 Miles Had GAS for a Rectaflex / Wrayflex Viewfinders / Differences Between the Models Britain's Role in WWII / Cameras Made in the Allied Occupation Zone in Germany Hand Assembling Cameras and Lens Bubbles Clockwork Wind Up Cameras / Japy Le Pascal Wind Up Camera Ansco No.1A Automatic Ansco and Semi-Automatic Anscos Bell & Howell Foton / AGFA Moto-Rapid C Andrew Asks for Advice on a Reliable and Repairable Clockwork Camera to Buy Canon Dial 35 / Mike's Tip for Using Alkaline Batteries in Cameras Designed for Mercury Batteries KW Praktina with Auxiliary Motor Drive / Kodak Motormatic 35 / Ricoh Auto Half Olympus Pen EM / GOMZ Leningrad / The Debrie Sept Will Break Your Wrists The First British SLR Might Have Been Made by Two Germans Brian's Thoughts on Italy and Buying Lenses He Doesn't Need Popular Telephoto Lenses / Nikkor 105mm f/2.5 / Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 Guy Has Working Rollei A110 Cameras and He Loves Them Dr. Wohler Saar Favor II / Rollei SL66 Repair / Paul Wants Another 617 Camera Which Cameras Do Each of Us Have the Most Duplicates of? Randal Wray, a heterodox economist and a Pioneer of Modern Monetary Theory. In this episode, we demystify the history of money, what money is, and how modern money works in the economy today (how it is created and how the mechanics of government spending work, and the REAL function of Taxes. Most importantly, we discuss why MMT economists tend to prefer the "L. Randall Wray" over a Universal Basic Income (UBI). In The Backroom, Randy and I discuss tariffs, degrowth, reindustrialization, and get into the "tough questions" when it comes to the transition to a socialist society. In January, Sherronna Bishop appeared as a guest on “America Can We Talk,” hosted by Debbie Georgatos. During the interview, she claimed that Merrick Garland and Christopher Wray joined a meeting she and others had with Mesa County Commissioners to discuss election fraud and Tina Peters. However, this meeting was open to the public, and not once during the entire hour-and-a-half call were Garland or Wray ever mentioned—not once. So why is Sherronna making these claims? If they are true, where is the evidence, and why wasn't it brought up during her testimonies? Next up, Sheriff Richard Mack, founder of CSPOA, joins the show to discuss what a constitutional sheriff is and the importance of the 10th Amendment. Later, the economy takes the hot seat—or more specifically, the massive sell-off the economy is currently experiencing following Trump's “Liberation Day.” Is this what Trump intended all along? We've got the scoop. All this and more on today's Untamed!

Steve's guest is noted economist L. Randall Wray, one of the early developers of modern money theory. As many times as this podcast has talked about MMT, it's always topical. In fact, just last week, Elon Musk discovered 14 magic money computers in government agencies! So, Trump had to hire the richest man in the world who hired who knows how many hundreds of young tech kids to discover what we've been saying for 30 years, which is that Congress appropriates money, and then the computers keystroke it into people's accounts. There's no mystery about this at all, but they think they've discovered not only something that people didn't know, but something that's, oh, it's so scary. It's nefarious that the government uses computers to increase the size of people's accounts. Well, that's spending. That's the way it's done. Clearly, this is a good time to revisit the valuable insights of MMT and look at the implications for building a society that serves its people. This episode dives deep into the fundamentals, debunking misconceptions about government spending, the role of taxes, and the myth that the US government can run out of money, like a household. Randy and Steve talk about changes in the economy due to financialization, and the difference between budget constraints and inflation constraints. Randy explains why we need to look at the history of debt in order to understand money. He talks about banking, including transactions between the Federal Reserve and the Treasury. The conversation breaks down complex concepts into relatable terms, sometimes with a touch of humor. Illustrating the creation of currency, Randy describes an imaginary scenario in which the fictional characters Robinson Crusoe and Friday devise a currency to facilitate barter. Randy: So, they come up with the idea of, ‘hey, we can use seashells as a medium of exchange.' And this is where money came from. It was Robinson Crusoe and Friday. Okay, think about this a little bit. It's pretty bizarre. We've got Crusoe and Friday marooned on a desert island. I can think of two much more likely scenarios. Okay, one, Crusoe came from Europe. What do Europeans do when they come across native people? Steve: Kill them. Anyone with an interest in how the economy truly operates will learn something from this episode. L. Randall Wray is a Professor of Economics at the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College, and Emeritus Professor at University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is one of the developers of Modern Money Theory and his newest book on the topic is Understanding Modern Money Theory: Money and Credit in Capitalist Economies (Elgar), forthcoming in spring 2025. Recent books on MMT include Making Money Work for Us (Polity, November 2022), a companion illustrated guide, Money For Beginners (Polity, May 2023, with Levy Institute graduate Heske Van Doornen), and the third edition of Modern Money Theory: A Primer on Macroeconomics for Sovereign Monetary Systems (Springer, 2024). He is also the author of Why Minsky Matters (Princeton, 2015) as well as the author, co-author, and editor of many other books. Find more of his work at levyinstitute.org

Once Donald Trump announced that he intended to nominate Kash Patel as the Director of the FBI, the writing was on the wall for the current FBI head Chris Wray. The problem is, FIB Directors are appointed for 10-year terms to help provide some independence and separation between the FBI and the president and his administration. A president can only fire the head of the FBI for good cause. But rather than force Trump's hand into what would be a wrongful firing, Wray "obeyed in advance" and resigned. Wray said he was resigning because, in his opinion, it was best for the FBI. But is it best for the American people? Or for American democracy? If you're interested in supporting our all-volunteer efforts, you can become a Team Justice patron at: / glennkirschner If you'd like to support us and buy Team Justice and Justice Matters merchandise visit:https://shop.spreadshirt.com/glennkir...Check out Glenn's website at https://glennkirschner.com/Follow Glenn on:Threads: https://www.threads.net/glennkirschner2Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/glennkirschner2Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glennkirschner2Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/glennkirsch...See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Last week, we examined the deeply worrying prospect of Kash Patel, FBI director. This week, that possibility became even more worrisome with respect to the future of the FBI, all sparked by current director Christopher Wray's announcement of his intention to step down. To kick off this week's show, Dahlia Lithwick is joined by Slate senior writer Mark Joseph Stern, who explains why Wray's decision is very bad news for the law and the rule of law. Next, the planet: Last summer, we tried to absorb the sheer scale of the shift in the constitutional landscape following a run of cases at the end of the last term that gave the courts the power to reshape the administrative state from the bench, and to impede the tools of the environmental protection trade at a time when the climate is in crisis. But the news cycle moved on and the global climate alarm got snoozed again. That alarm was surely ringing again at One, First Street this week, when a case that could reshape the nation's biggest environmental law was argued at the Supreme Court. Seven County Infrastructure Coalition v. Eagle County, Colorado comes to the court as a dispute over how much review is due to a railroad plan that will carry waxy, crude oil through environmentally sensitive areas, and send said waxy crude on its way to already polluted and health blighted gulf communities. Sam Sankar of Earth Justice was on hand to explain how this weedy case paints a very clear picture of the Supreme Court conservative majority's fondness for grabbing cases that are vehicles for achieving their preferred policy outcomes, but then finding themselves in a bit of a pickle when its time to craft a new test for an old problem.
