A deep dive conversation based on the moviescramble.co.uk review written by Mary Munoz. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a 2023 fantasy heist comedy film directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Gilio from a story by Chris McKay and Gilio. Based on the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, it is set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting and has no connections to the previous film trilogy released between 2000 and 2012. Starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant, the film follows bard Edgin Darvis (Pine) and barbarian Holga Kilgore (Rodriguez), who enlist a team of unlikely heroes to steal an ancient and powerful relic but come into conflict with evil forces. Welcome to another episode of Death Don't Do Fiction, the AIPT Movies podcast! The podcast about the enduring legacy of our favorite movies! This February we're kicking off our “Fast February” series, where we cover the movies that made Vin Diesel a star and taught the world to live their lives one quarter mile at a time, The Fast & Furious franchise! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and returning guest Bill Mueller discuss the one that started it all, 2001's The Fast and the Furious!Limp Bizkit! Ja Rule! Cheesy lines! Chunky boots that would make Guy Fieri jealous! A fittingly quick and entertaining pace! Recognizable Los Angeles locations! Questionable car talk! Exciting new home video technology! Legally purchased DVD players! Overheated manifolds! Reckless contempt for carpooling! Shockingly organized crowds of young, illegal street racers! A guy playing guitar at a party! Product placement for Pizza Hut, Corona, and most-notably, the nitrous oxide brand NOS! A great high-speed heist to open the movie and plenty of (mostly) real stunts and action! Occasional surreal, anime-influenced racing scenes years before the Speed Racer movie came out! A versatile cast of young actors on the verge of stardom, including Vin Diesel with a rare shred of humility, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez laying the foundation for one of cinema's most iconic female action heroes, and Matt Schulze making the most of his very punchable face! A 2001 time capsule which may have borrowed heavily from Point Break, but still has great chemistry between the two leads with some impressive world building and story mechanics, and would surprisingly go on to become one of the biggest and most influential action franchises in movie history! In addition, Alex shares his spoiler-free thoughts on Spring Breakers, The Beekeeper, Lucio Fulci's dance-themed giallo Murder Rock, and Sam Raimi's return to horror, Send Help! You can find Death Don't Do Fiction on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Roll initiative for a new episode of The Fellowship of the Mic in the year 2026! We've taken a little hiatus for almost half of 2025, but Shandra is back with some special guest hosts in the new year.In Episode 75, my Filmstagram buddy, Campo, comes on to discuss the Dungeons & Dragons movies. We discuss the poorly reviewed movie from the year 2000 with Marlon Wayans, entitled Dungeons & Dragons, and then of course, the new one with Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez from 2023, D&D: Honor Among Thieves. We discuss a variety of things in this episode: how Jeremy Irons acted his heart out in the former film, how Michelle Rodriguez gained 15 pounds of muscle in the latter film, and why is there not a bad '90s movie, like, at all?
Welcome to the Psychedelic Conversations Podcast! In this episode, we speak with Michael Zapolin, also known as Zappy Zapolin, for an expansive and deeply inspiring conversation recorded at a psychedelic conference. Together, we explore Zappy's personal journey into psychedelics, spirituality, and frequency, from his early transformational experiences to creating The Reality of Truth and working with cultural icons and psychedelic elders. We talk about lineage, mentorship, and the power of “the nod” — that quiet validation that encourages seekers to trust their inner calling. The conversation moves through themes of surrender, gratitude, plant medicine, cultural change, and even the future intersection of psychedelics and AI. This episode is an invitation to think for ourselves, honor those who walked before us, and remember the miracle of being alive.About Michael:Michael “Zappy” Zapolin is an award-winning documentary director, entrepreneur, and psychedelic-medicine advocate driven by the belief that psychedelic medicine is one of the most powerful tools available to rapidly raise consciousness and help redirect humanity away from destructive paths. He has made it his life's mission to expand accessibility to psychedelic compounds through education, media, research, clinical development, and commercial enterprises. Zappy is widely recognized as the director behind the acclaimed documentary The Reality of Truth, which follows actress Michelle Rodriguez and friends on a deeply personal journey of discovery. For his directorial debut, Zappy was awarded the Amsterdam Film Festival's Van Gogh Award for Documentary Directing. His latest groundbreaking documentary follows the life-changing intervention he facilitated for basketball superstar Lamar Odom, highlighting breakthrough psychedelic treatments including ketamine and ibogaine. Prior to focusing his work on psychedelic medicine, Zappy built an illustrious business career. He began on Wall Street, becoming a Vice President at a prestigious investing firm at just 23, making him the youngest person in the firm's history to achieve the role. Over the years, he's developed a reputation for identifying massive trends early, including internet domain names, legal CBD and cannabis, and now the burgeoning psychedelic economy.Connect with Michael:- LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/zappy- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/zappyzapolin/- - Website: https://zappyzapolin.com/Thank you so much for joining us! It's not every day that James Cameron has a new flick out in theaters, so the boys are seizing the opportunity to talk about Jim's first journey to Pandora. New name, same show! Overlapping Dialogue is now Ticket Stubs—your go-to stop for double features, deep dives, and all things cinema. This week, we're celebrating Noirvember in style with a pairing that bridges the past and present of the crime genre: John Boorman's cold-blooded, acid-tinged revenge saga Point Blank (1967) and Steve McQueen's taut, politically charged heist thriller Widows (2018). Listen as we dissect their hardboiled aesthetics, fractured moral codes, and the surprisingly emotional depths lurking beneath their genre trappings. But first, on this week's Blue Plate Special, we take a moment to review the brand-new reimagining of The Running Man and share a rundown of upcoming fall releases we're most excited to catch—just in time for awards season. This week, it's one zombie battle after another as we talk two big movies from the two big Paul Andersons... it's 2002's Resident Evil, written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Colin Salmon, Eric Mabius, James Purefoy and Martin Crewes. It's a movie that J Mo specifically picked up to do a whole parody of the PTA theme month we did last year (a "P.W.S.Autumn" if you will), so it's only fitting that we actually spend the bulk of this episode talking about Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, an absolutely stunning cinematic achievement and the best movie of 2025. Meanwhile, Hayley has caught Weapons not once but twice since we last spoke, and we use that as a springboard to look ahead at what we'd like to see from Zach Cregger's next project, as he tries to be true to the gameplaying experience of the original Resident Evil games. All that plus theatrical field reports from Justin on The Conjuring: Last Rites and The Long Walk! If you'd like to watch Resident Evil before listening along to our discussion, it can currently be found streaming in Canada on Netflix, Paramount+ and Hollywood Suite at the time of publication, while One Battle After Another is of course now in theaters. Other works discussed in this episode include Barbarian, Insidious: The Red Door, Alien: Romulus, Rye Lane, Carlito's Way, Licorice Pizza, Sinners, Inherent Vice, The Big Lebowski, 28 Days Later, Night of the Living Dead, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and of course, as always, LOST. We'll be back in two weeks time with another Halloween-themed horror selection, but what this is we don't yet know, so keep your eyes peeled to our social accounts on Instagram and BlueSky to find out! Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

Send us a textGrab your d20s and prepare for adventure as we dive into Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the 2023 film that captured the heart and soul of D&D while delivering one of the most entertaining fantasy adventures in recent years. This episode feels like a natural critical hit as we explore what made this Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez-led romp so special, despite it not achieving the box office success it deserved. Rich, our resident D&D newcomer, shares his unbridled enthusiasm for the film, comparing his experience to watching the first Pirates of the Caribbean. Meanwhile, Dakota and Anthony offer the perspective of active D&D players, pointing out how perfectly the film captures the experience of a tabletop campaign, from critical failures to unexpected solutions. We break down the stellar cast performances, with Hugh Grant's deliciously self-serving Forge Fitzwilliam and the scene-stealing appearances by a pint-sized Bradley Cooper deserving special mention. The hosts dissect memorable sequences like Doric's shapeshifting escape, the speaking-with-dead cemetery scene, and that hilariously literal straight-line-walking paladin Xenk. For D&D players, the film offers delightful references to game mechanics and lore, while newcomers get a perfectly accessible fantasy adventure that stands on its own.The conversation expands to how the film has influenced official D&D materials, with items and locations from the movie becoming part of the game's canon. Tara Erickson and Aaron Alexander buckle up for a high-octane ride as they dive into the adrenaline-fueled world of Fast X, the latest installment in the Fast & Furious saga. Directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk), this chapter brings back our favorite street racers for another round of gravity-defying stunts and heart-pounding action. The film kicks into gear with the Rome Bomb Chase, where Dom and his crew race against time through the streets of Rome to prevent a massive bomb from detonating near the Vatican, showcasing the film's signature blend of speed and suspense. Jason Momoa's portrayal of Dante Reyes takes center stage in the unforgettable Dante's Unhinged Interrogation, where he chillingly converses with two cadavers, revealing his twisted psyche and cementing his place as one of the franchise's most menacing villains. Meanwhile, the Letty vs. Cipher Showdown delivers an intense hand-to-hand combat scene between Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and the enigmatic cyber-terrorist Cipher (Charlize Theron), highlighting both actors' fierce performances. In a poignant twist, Jakob's Sacrifice sees John Cena's Jakob Toretto making the ultimate sacrifice to protect his family, adding emotional weight to the high-speed narrative. Just when fans think they've seen it all, the film delivers a jaw-dropping moment with Gisele's Return, as Gal Gadot's character makes an unexpected reappearance, setting the stage for future plot twists. The star-studded cast includes Vin Diesel as Dominic "Dom" Toretto, the loyal patriarch with a passion for muscle cars; Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Dom's formidable wife and skilled street racer; Jason Momoa as Dante Reyes, the flamboyant and vengeful antagonist; Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Dom's grounded and resilient sister; Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, the crew's comic relief and daredevil driver; Ludacris as Tej Parker, the team's tech genius; Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, a master hacker critical to the crew's operations; John Cena as Jakob Toretto, Dom's estranged brother-turned-hero; Charlize Theron as Cipher, the elusive cyber-terrorist; Gal Gadot as Gisele Yashar, making her surprising return; Brie Larson as Tess, a new ally with hidden motives; Alan Ritchson as Aimes, the new head of the Agency with questionable intentions; Helen Mirren as Queenie Shaw, the wise matriarch of the Shaw family; and Rita Moreno as Abuelita Toretto, the family's loving grandmother, embodying the saga's core theme of family. For fans looking to relive the action-packed legacy of the Fast & Furious franchise, here's the full chronological order of films: The Fast and the Furious (2001), 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Furious 7 (2015), The Fate of the Furious (2017), Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019), F9 (2021), and Fast X (2023). Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast that is surfin', surfin' cause we're gay. This week, Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with queer comedians Erin Judge (@iamerinjudge) and Jenny Chalikian (@jchalikian) to talk about why Blue Crush Should've Been Gay. This 2002 Cali surfer film may only have a 62% on Rotten Tomatoes but it has a 100% in Erin's heart. Blue Crush stars Kate Bosworth and Michelle Rodriguez as Anne Marie and Eden, two surfer girls in Hawaii who are 1000% in love with one another. Since it's 2002, the movie tries to convince us that Anne Marie is interested in some football player dude, but we all know the truth. They even keep a third girl, Lena, around for the main purpose of making Anne Marie and Eden seem less gay for each other (but they aren't fooling anyone). It's a toss up for us when it comes to who is the queerest between Anne Marie and Eden. They both totally lose their minds over the professional surfer dykes with their wolf cuts and tiny bikinis and Eden makes zero attempt to hide her extreme jealousy when Anne Marie begins dating the football guy. We know one thing for sure, Blue Crush Should've Been Gay. Erin and Jenny's new comedy album, Romantic Comedy: Live at the Ripped Bodice is available now; and if you happen to be in or near LA, you can check out the show in person!
