Giddy up space horror folk! We're leaving this terrifying planet in search for a better tomorrow, out among the stars. Sure, we're likely to come across a people-eating race of nocturnal flying monsters and maybe even a cannibalistic demon or two- but the important thing is that we have each other. Join Kim and Jon on this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street as they continue their month-long celebration of Space Horror with Pitch Black (2000) and John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars (2001). Leave the madness behind, if only for an hour, and hitch a wagon with us as we head out into the Wild Wild Space. // SUPPORT THE SHOW // Nightmare on Film Street is a labor of love - and Terror! We make it all the way through Martin Scorsese's epic Netflix production, The Irishman, before providing the definitive takes on two more maligned efforts from acclaimed directors: Clint Eastwood's The 15:17 to Paris and John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars. Bonus features: Black Cat Mansion, The Hana Montana Movie and more!
Say goodbye to the preliminary matches as we enter carpenterbowl proper! The enter the bowl stage sets 16 movies against each other to see who survives. This week we have the unstoppable one Michael Myers marching his horror classic Halloween against the hordes of *checks notes* martian dust ghosts from John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars! Who will win? Will DM Tom ever be able to trust us again? Tune in!
oooooOOOOOooooo, it's time for some spooky ghosts! But on Mars?!!! Only one man could have concieved of such a mad premise. And that man made The Thing once. No time for that though. Ghosts of Mars! Featuring: Jason Statham's "fuck me" eyes and pleas, The Ice Cube Bounce, Natasha Henstridge, nu metal, aaa kaa kaa gaar gaar gaaaar, Pam Grier (just about) and a matriarchy!

The Xpodables are back throwing in a curve ball, instead of the planned choice of Doomsday, Rob had to jump the gun and the boys had to do John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars. The first in the boys choice for strong female lead movies. Jason will get to Doomsday and Dan has his choice of Aeon Flux. Jake time returns this show and our curveball struck Jake out. The trio of talking terds couldn't find a trailer to talk about but they do have a rather mixed bag of retro trailers to talk about. Ballsac brings on the basic questions with his "question of the show" and then the boys get into what they've been watching. Dan and Jason do their best to stumble Rob's rundown but he does a fine job at stumping himself. The boys close the show out with another Ballsac question and awkward ending. This time we unearth the movie that sent John Carpenter into a self-imposed exile for nearly a decade. Frances joins us as our very first guest. Elliot crosses Ice Cube for the last time.
As we continue Mars-ch on Alcohollywood, returning guest Craig (with a little help from new guest Alicia) joins us to talk John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars! An entertainingly cheesy change from the astronaut-based disaster movies that make up most Mars movies, Ghosts of Mars is late-career Carpenter at his most gonzo. Featuring a group of Mars cops (led by Natasha Henstridge and Jason Statham) and a band of criminals (led by professional lip-biter Ice Cube) fending off a group of possessed Martian ghosts who make themselves up like Marilyn Manson, Ghosts of Mars has all the grunge-rock, lesbian subplots and awkward cross-fades you might expect from the master of terror – or not. Check it out along with our custom cocktail and drinking rules! (Thanks to our sponsor Field Notes as part of the Chicago Podcast Coop!)
