In this episode the heroic cosmonauts Jef, Josh and Brian saved their last intergalactic horror chat for what is probably the most well known franchise to make it to the stars, the one and only "Jason X"! The crew aboard the SS Forever Midnight have grown weary and fear their bones and brains have been affected by the long journey through space and time. Their teeth have gotten skinny and Brian is experiencing celestial walnut brain syndrome. It is time to get back to earth 1, time to reintegrate back into human society. Soaring in the heavens this past month was a great idea on paper, but the cost physically and mentally for the crew was astro-nomical!
While Jimmy can't deny Alien's popularity - it made big bucks and spawned a slew of follow-ups of somethimes great, sometimes dubious quailtiy - it still strikes him as clumsy and eye-rollingly dumb. Comedian Ryan Sim begs to differ and does so with a spirited defense. Can he win Jimmy over? Listen to find out.
It is week three of the "Forever Midnight Goes To Space" bonanza and Jef, Josh and Brian are finally gettin' used to zero gravity and huffing farts in their space helmets. This time around the FM3 make a wish that Leprechaun 4 will hopefully not be as much of a boring mess as Critters 4, and who knows maybe they will find some gold hidden on some far off Mardi Gras planet?! Who knows maybe they will even witness a real life Leprechaun shootin' a pistol, you never know...it could happen! So tighten the buckles on your wee shoes cause this trip into space might get a little bumpy and lumpy!
In this week's episode the FM3 are back in the space saddle! They may have breached some movie watching etiquette by watching 1992's Critters 4 before Critters 3 but they believe this was the best course of action as they needed another franchise horror space movie! (Slim pickens out there) After all, it is Forever Midnight goes to space in April 2025! So after decontamination, fasten your safety belts, grab a snack and beam yourself up into the stars!. It's time to visit some little hairy goobers!

In this H.P Lovecraft classic, we listen to a story told by a nameless figure. A story about a certain strange man called Arthur Jermyn. As the title suggests, we listen to the life of this Arthur Jermyn and the peculiarities of both himself and his family. We hear about the family members and their strange unique obsessions with Gods and amazing mystical artefacts located far within the jungles of Africa. We are also told of what this ancient artefact did to the Jermyns, and how they all met their suspicious ends. Almost like they never existed. If you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts. It means a lot. The conclusion to Jakob Chapman's "Observation". Mik attends his second Observation experiment and is sent to another world, his mind his own, but in a foreign body. His interactions with the planet organisms soon prove hostile, and things only get more horrific when Mik suddenly wakes up outside his girlfriend Kessy's apartment carrying an itch inside him that is hidden from the world, until it is too late. While Mik's life and mind continues to spiral out of control, the doctors in charge of the experiment, are getting exactly what they want. And they want more. In this week's episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss Ridley Scott's prequel to his own 1979 masterpiece, Alien, the somewhat controversial sci-fi horror film, Prometheus!A fantastic and hauntingly hopeful musical score! A stacked cast that includes Michael Fassbender in one of his greatest roles! Incredible production design and cinematography! A horrific self-surgery scene for the ages! A surprisingly timely warning about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence! A movie that may have been viewed as a modern classic if not for the baggage of a connected franchise! Is this yet another example of the folly of de-mystifying the enjoyably mysterious? Is the exploration of humanity's hubris, and insatiable desire for more, perfectly told through a technically unnecessary prequel? Listen now to find out!In addition, Matt and Alex share their spoiler-free thoughts on Wes Anderson's Asteroid City and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny! "Observation" tells the story of a man called Mik, who volunteers to take part for the second time, in an incredible experiment which takes a persons consciousness and sends it across the solar system to different worlds. To observe the universe and prove humanity is not alone. But with some unpleasant side effects. Although Mik is drawn by a sense of duty to serve for the betterment of science and the exploration of space, his relationship with his girlfriend Kessy is falling apart as she tries exhaustingly to talk him out of it, telling him that the second Observation will most surely kill him. But Mik is firm with his decision, oblivious to what lies ahead, set by the ones in charge who's motivations are more sinister than science.Cast.Ted Huggins - Mik and NarratorDebs Wardle - KessyMars Lipowski - The Lead DoctorJustine Ghosty - Sam The ReceptionistEmma Griffiths - The NurseIf you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts in a review. Debs is a voiceover artist and comedy writer who although has only been in the VO industry for a little over 3 years, as Debs put it herself, she believes to have found her calling the moment she first stood in front of a microphone. As well as talking about Debs' humble beginnings as a VO, we also talk about a whole load of other subjects. Such as the usual tips and lessons she's learned along her journey so far, our fascination and admiration towards famous audio drama director Dirk Mags, her performance on Cryo Pod Tapes' Episode 21 Lone Orbit by Roger Ley, and the difference between bad script writing and good script writing, delving into detail while using examples from movies like Alien, Game of Thrones, and Transformers. In this Conversation episode, I sit and chat with fellow voiceover artist and my friend, Brad Shaw. Brad has been in the creative industries all his life and has had experience as a theatre actor, a show reel producer, a murder mystery facilitator and of course, a voiceover artist. As well as delving into Brad's colourful career, we hear the story of how he created his VO training platform, Wonderland VO. Which started out as an audiobook project of Alice in Wonderland, in support of the NHS during the first Covid lockdown. "Hole" is a short story written in the over-the-shoulder perceptive with the story telling you what is happening, as if you, the reader, is the one experiencing what is happening in the story. In this story, a perfectly black, circular hole has appeared on the floor of your Livingroom. Your immense curiosity needs to know. Why is it there? How did it get there? And most importantly, where does it leads to? But what you may find at the end of the tunnel, might make you wish you never did.If you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts. One of the all time H.P Lovecraft favourites. Dagon tells the story about a mans retelling of his experiences as a WW1 naval prisoner of war who escaped alone, only to find the ocean vanished, along with himself marooned on a mysterious island that has a sinister quality to it. And as he explores his new surroundings, he finds a giant stone Monolith where the ancient symbols carved into it tells a story of some kind of ancient man, that something else finds him, that brings him to madness. If you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts. Angelo Ricci, Joe Czanek and Manuel Silva are in the water town of Kingsport, waiting for an opportunity to exercise their profession on an unknowing resident with plenty of coin to miss. And when they hear rumours that the resident, mysterious old man who lives on the old house on the hill, holds a fortune of gold and silver, they think they've hit the jackpot and eagerly make a plan to pay the old man a visit. But, they have no idea that this feeble old man with no name, bears no comparison to anything they've dealt with before, nor will ever again. If you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts. In this Bonus episode I chat with Indie Writer and Instructor Jakob Chapman. Jakob works as a college instructor at Olympic University in Washington state USA, and has also been an indie writer since he was 14 years old. And has published several novels during that time. Jakob and I talk about many things such as his writing style and how he disciplines himself to write even if he reaches a writers block, but one of the most interesting is when we talk about his first and only Sci-fi horror story to date which would become the very first published episode of Cryo Pod Tapes nearly two years ago.If you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts. Tape 16Another short but tantalising story from the collection of HP. Lovecraft. Two intellectual friends discuss the theory and psychology of the idea of The Unnameable, in a graveyard of all places. And argue if it is even possible for a thing to be so horrendous, so terrifying, so beyond comprehension, that it is truly, Unnameable. They may discover their answer, but may wish they hadn't. After some technical difficulties we are up and running. I was joined by Sonja (ghostlyreads on TikTok) to talk about space horror and basically everything that's terrifying about it. Shownotes: https://booksinthefreezer.com
The time has finally come to go to the scariest place imaginable – the inside of the human mind. Thankfully, we have a friend to accompany us on this most hideous of trips. I'm joined this week by Gemma Amor, author of the brand-new techno-horror FULL IMMERSION. It's a book that deals with trauma, psychosis and experimental treatment, and it's the perfect springboard for an epic conversation about mental health in horror.Gemma and I cover the autobiographical elements of her novel and how it helped her recovery. I lay bare my own neurosis and explain why this genre is not necessarily a safe space. And Gemma explains the dangerous reality of being a woman in the horror game. If that all sounds a tad sombre, don't worry – there is also chat about the Uncanny Valley, Men in Black, Creepypasta and Black Mirror. As well as the pros and cons of pushing over racist statues. It's a long episode this one. You won't get this level of self-indulgence every week. But it was just too good a conversation to cut short.Let's head into my head, it's scary there!!Enjoy!Full Immersion is released September 13th by Angry Robot Read Gemma's essay - The Female Experience of FearSupport Talking Scared on PatreonCome talk books on Twitter @talkscaredpod, on Instagram, or email direct to talkingscaredpod@gmail.com Support the show
Finally, she's here! After months of waiting for schedules and book releases to align, Hailey Piper is on the show. She's here to talk about both of her 2022 releases – each is a kidnapping experience. The novella Your Mind is a Terrible Thing takes us up into the void and into creepy inner space. Her forthcoming novel No Gods for Drowning transports us somewhere else entirely. Hailey lets me blather on about social commentary and metaphor before reminding me gently that sometimes it's ok to enjoy the story. We talk about concise world-building (how!!), zombie capitalism, police brutality, anxiety and body autonomy, and why Queer characters don't need an agenda to be worthy of inclusion.By the time this goes live Hailey has probably written another two books!! But for now, I'm just delighted to have her on the show to discuss these two.Enjoy!Your Mind is a Terrible Thing was released May 2022 by Off Limits Press; No Gods for Drowning is published September 7th, 2022 by Polis Books.Other books mentioned in the episode include: Crime Scene (forthcoming 2022), by Cynthia PelayoThe Possession of Natalie Glagow (2018), by Hailey PiperBenny Rose the Cannibal King (2020), by Hailey Piper Support Talking Scared on Patreon Come talk books on Twitter @talkscaredpod, on Instagram, or email direct to talkingscaredpod@gmail.com Support the show
