Lauren joined me from across the pond, all the way in Turkey and I must admit that I was very impressed with what she had to say about her character in the film. This is not your normal, everyday child's fairy tale. This rendition of Cinderella has a much darker side than what we know growing up. Lauren and I sat down and spoke about her ass-kicking character, Cinderella. I got the inside scoop on what it was like on set and work with the renowned actress, Natasha Henstridge. She also tells us which scene is her favorite and what challenges posed to her while on set. There's no more to ‘Tale” about this movie except that Lauren acted flawlessly as Cinderella and I found the movie to be very entertaining but with a twist at the end. There are three movies that she is currently working on: Love, Lattes, and the Christmas Lights, The Devil's Retreat, and Viral Haunt. Be sure to check those out when they are released in theaters. Also, you can support Lauren by following her on social media and showering her with support.
Get ready for the most roundhouse-kick-to-the-face episode yet, where we dive into not one, not two, but THREE Jean-Claude Van Damme cinematic fever dreams and spiral off into pure sweaty chaos.
Keith of the Horror Convos Podcast joins Caitlin to cover 1995's Species, a movie that is both campy and complex. We talk about the movie's themes and production, and we cover many horror tropes: the succubus, Frankenstein monsters, monstrous menstruation, monstrous motherhood, and science gone awry. Tangents include: fighting sharks vs fighting gators, believing in aliens and/or ghosts, tarot readings, sci fi universes we'd live in, and technology we'd like to see. Be sure to check out Horror Convos!
"TRAINS CAN ONLY GO ONE DIRECTION!!!"This week's hottest movie is... Species. This film has everything: a genetically engineered alien-human hybrid, a crack team of scientists, mercenaries, as well as a man who has access to his feelings, and Natasha Henstridge as a seductive alien with a tounge she can't wait to shove through the back of your head. If you're into sci-fi thrillers with body horror, questionable ethical decisions, and more goo than a slime factory, this episode's for you!Help Support our HV Family: www.Patreon.com/HorrorVirginWhat did you think of this episode? Through Zoetrope's experimental, communal utopia, Coppola attempted to reimagine the entire pursuit of moviemaking. Now, more than fifty years later, despite myriad setbacks, the visionary filmmaker's dream persists, most notably in the production of his decades-in-the-making film and the culmination of his utopian ideals, Megalopolis. As Wasson makes clear, the story of Zoetrope is also the story of Coppola's wife, Eleanor Coppola, and their children, and of personal lives inseparable from artistic passion. It is a story that charts the divergent paths of Coppola and his cofounder and onetime apprentice, George Lucas, and of their very different visions of art and commerce. And it is a story inextricably bound up in the making of one of the greatest quixotic masterpieces ever attempted, Apocalypse Now, and in what Coppola found in the jungles of the Philippines when he walked the razor's edge. That story, already the stuff of legend, has never fully been told, until this extraordinary book.Available herePodcast Rewind:June 2024 - Ep. 34…The Making Of is published by Michael Valinsky. To promote your products or services to over 25,000 filmmakers, TV and video pros reading this newsletter, please email us at mvalinsky@me.com Get full access to The Making Of at themakingof.substack.com/subscribe

Young Jason Statham with some degree of hair! Ice Cube having a lot of fun at least! When a stunningly gorgeous woman wants to have sex with you, for FREE, the hour you meet her, that should raise a red flag. Especially if she's really an H.R. Giger-designed alien creature masquerading as Natasha Henstridge. Hey, it happens. This 1995 movie delivers the blood and boobs (human and extraterrestrial, to be precise) and boasts a pretty impressive cast with a thankless assignment chasing this babe all over L.A. trying to stop her from getting pregnant and slaughtering her suitors. Girl's got ISSUES! But whatever species you might belong to, this is a really fun flick worth watching, even if it is a bit..."SIL-ly".

The Forbidden Cinema crew take a moment to come out of our normal timeline to pay homage to the late, great Matthew Perry. This week we go all the way in to the distant future of the year 2000 to look at the Bruce Willis / Matthew Perry caper comedy, The Whole Nine Yards. This critically mixed (but must have been commercially valid as there was a sequel) film had it's flaws, but at a brisk 98 minutes with credits and 2 musical numbers it flew by with some incredible physical comedy from an immensely likable cast. We welcome in Natasha Henstridge to the podcast without having done Species yet, Zack is flummoxed. We have suicide humor, Harland Williams, and a delightful performance by Amanda Peet. We both are shocked at how huge of a man, and how funny of a man Michael Clarke Duncan is. We also spend some time talking about how an R rated comedy was released in the year 2000 targeted at adults, but not with post American Pie raunchy humor.
Get ready for another rollercoaster ride through the cinematic world of Bruce Willis in the latest episode of "Planet Bruce" with your hosts, the dynamic duo, Milenko and Aleks. This time, they're diving headfirst into the zany and darkly comedic world of the year 2000, and the movie in focus is none other than "The Whole Nine Yards."Set against the backdrop of Montreal, Quebec, this film boasts a stellar cast, including Matthew Perry, Rosanna Arquette, Michael Clarke Duncan, Natasha Henstridge, Amanda Peet, and Kevin Pollak. And of course, the one and only Bruce Willis takes on the role of a contract killer, setting the stage for a farcical chain of events that will have you in stitches. It's a tale of intrigue, a comedy of errors, and a dash of noir vibes, all rolled into one. The brothers delve into the film, and while they both agree it's a wild and fun watch, they can't help but point out some tonal issues. "The Whole Nine Yards" seems to straddle the line, never fully committing to being a pitch-black comedy. In the end, it might not be the most substantial film, but it's a competent and entertaining ride that leaves you with a smile on your face. And what's even more delightful is the hilarious and engaging conversation between the brothers as they dissect the film's quirks and highlights. So, join us for the latest episode of "Planet Bruce," where we explore the wild world of contract killers, farcical mishaps, and a touch of noir, all served with a generous side of laughter. You won't want to miss this rollicking adventure with Milenko and Aleks. The year is 1995. Kurt Cobain blew his head off last year, or someone blew his head off, at the very least. Singles from Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, The Offsprings' Smash, and Radiohead's The Bends are lighting up the radio. And Wonderwall, don't forget Wonderwall. The film was directed by Roger Donaldson and produced by Frank Mancuso Jr. The concept for the movie was originally conceived by Dennis Feldman, who also wrote the screenplay. The production was a collaborative effort between MGM and the American Film Marketing Association (AFMA). The story revolves around the discovery of an extraterrestrial DNA sequence received from outer space. A group of scientists, led by Xavier Fitch (played by Ben Kingsley), use this alien DNA to create a genetically engineered human-alien hybrid, named Sil (portrayed by Natasha Henstridge). Sil grows rapidly and exhibits dangerous predatory behaviors as she escapes from the research facility and sets out to procreate and fulfill her deadly instinct to survive. The casting process was crucial to bring the story's characters to life, and "Species" features a talented ensemble cast, including Michael Madsen, Alfred Molina, Forest Whitaker, Marg Helgenberger, and Michelle Williams. "Species" was made with a production budget of around $35 million, and it aimed to blend elements of science fiction, horror, and thriller genres. The film's special effects, especially in creating Sil's alien-human transformation, were considered groundbreaking for its time. Upon its release in 1995, "Species" garnered significant attention for its mix of horror and sci-fi elements, becoming a commercial success with a worldwide box office gross of over $113 million. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film found a dedicated fan base and spawned several sequels, making it a notable entry in the sci-fi horror genre of the 1990s. They use this genetic material to create a human-alien hybrid named Sil (Natasha Henstridge). As Sil rapidly matures, it becomes evident that she possesses dangerous predatory instincts, leading her to escape from the research facility in a bid for freedom. With a primal drive to reproduce, Sil embarks on a deadly spree, and a team of experts, including a government assassin (Michael Madsen), a biologist (Marg Helgenberger), and an empath (Forest Whitaker), is assembled to track her down before she fulfills her sinister mission. This nerve-wracking and suspenseful tale of genetic experimentation gone wrong keeps audiences on the edge of their seats with stunning special effects and an engaging mix of science fiction and horror elements. thevhsstrikesback@gmail.com https://linktr.ee/vhsstrikesback --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thevhsstrikesback/support

"In acting, when you play villains, rule number one, if you judge your character, if you call a "villain" a villain, you have just lost yourself that role. The second that you judge what you are choosing for that character, you ruin the truth and the authenticity of what an individual who expresses like that, feels.""The process that an actor goes through is almost the exact same thing as a spiritual awakening. Welcome back to your favorite podcast about some of the most notorious cinema bombs of all time. On this week's episode, we travel back to Carpentar Land and discuss 2001's sci-fi/western/horror/action film - Ghosts of Mars. This often-requested film marked John Carpentar's first exit from Hollywood and was both a financial flop and critical failure. Both critics and audience members gave some pretty brutal reviews when it was first released. To assist in the discussion, the gang welcomes back John and Bret. Statistically, Ghosts of Mars is enjoyed by 1 out of 4 people. Will the podcast crew follow as well? Should we even be talking about statistics on a movie podcast? Listen and find out! From John Carpenter, the mind behind classics like Halloween and The Thing, comes a sci-fi action horror movie that is terrible and called Ghosts of Mars. Starring Ice Cube, Natasha Henstridge and Jason Statham, it's about Mars and ghosts that turn you into a fan of metal. Some say this film was always meant to be cheesy and bad, and while that may be the case, we still reckon it's missing the "good" in "so-bad-it's-good".Join the Bad Porridge Club on Patreon for TWO bonus episodes each month! https://www.patreon.com/oldiebutagoodiepodFollow the show!Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oldiebutagoodiepod/Facebook: https://fb.me/oldiebutagoodiepodYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjfdXHxK_rIUsOEoFSx-hGAPodcast Platforms: https://linktr.ee/oldiebutagoodiepodGot feedback? Radical Ones! Ryan asked Rob to watch this film for the first time... was he happy after? The movie has been described as "John Carpenters midlife crisis!" It's "Ghosts Of Mars" from 2001! Before we dive into the movie, Rob talks a little bit about watching the Marla Gibbs & Jackée sitcom "227" from 1985. "Long inhabited by human settlers, the Red Planet has become the manifest destiny of an over-populated Earth. Nearly 640,000 people now live and work all over Mars, mining the planet for its abundant natural resources. But one of those mining operations has uncovered a deadly mother lode: a long-dormant Martian civilization whose warriors are systematically taking over the bodies of human intruders. The film stars Natasha Henstridge, Ice Cube, Jason Statham, Pam Grier, Clea DuVall, and Joanna Cassidy." Rob's Twitter: @mgnppodcast & Instagram: Geekyrob & Fear Bias Please Like
