Lavay Smith and Chris Siebert have been making music in San Francisco for more than 20 years. Their band, Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, plays all around the Bay Area all the time. Chris and Lavay also do regular gigs at the Royal Cuckoo Lounge every Sunday. For this podcast, part one of two, Chris and Lavay discuss how the band got started, the SF music scene of the late-1980s, and some interesting experiences they've had in nightclub basements. Lavay brought in a all star cast of bay area musicians including some serious horn players (listen to Mike Olmos’ fantastic trumpet solos).We’re excited wrap up our first season with this great band of bay area legends, and we look forward to what’s in store for the new year!
