THE VELVET TEAPARTY is a Los Angeles, California based rock band. Formed in 2011, the four individual members met up while attending LACM, Los Angeles College of Music located in the heart of Pasadena, California. All four members of the band hail from different regions of the world (US, Brazil, Germany and Ecuador) which has contributed to the band's overall sound and style. Shortly after meeting, they discovered that they shared many similar musical influences and goals alike. Within a few weeks they began writing songs and soon after, booking shows all over. They have since garnered a sizable following on the local LA scene as a result of their high energy shows, thought provoking lyrics and hook filled songs. The band proceeded to record a series of demos before catching the ear of songwriter/producer Rick Garcia. Garcia, who has an extended list of songwriting/producer credits in the film world heard the bands cover version of the Goo Goo Dolls hit song "Iris." "The band had taken the song and completely made it their own with a unique arrangement and a significant shot of fresh energy" states Garcia. After becoming a fan, Garcia reached out to his longtime friend Mike Malinin, drummer for The Goo Goo Dolls. Together, Garcia and Malinin attended a Velvet Teaparty show and were "blown away" at the bands performance, according to Mike. They approached the band and soon after booked them into Swinghouse Studios to produce a five song EP. The songs were mixed by acclaimed recording/mixing engineer Paul Hager (Katy Perry, The Goo Goo Dolls, Pink, Avril Lavigne, Miley Cyrus). The band's energy is contagious, leaving those that hear them asking for more. With their eclectic approach to rock music they continue captivating more and more people from all walks of life in all parts of the world. The Velvet Teaparty is: Vanessa McNiel (Vocals) Gabriel Maska (Bass/Vocals) Andres Yepez (Guitar) Jonas Streffer (Drums) reverbnation.com/thevelvetteaparty
