We had the pleasure of interviewing Beth Hart over Zoom video! The Grammy-nominated vocalist Beth Hart has been gearing up for the release of her “Black Dog” music video for months, but unfortunately for undisclosed reasons, she isn't able to include the audio. Never one to withhold from her fans, Hart decided to release the video anyway – just without the audio – in what may be the first ever “silent” music video release. Directed by Greg Watermann, the “Black Dog” music video comes on the heels of Hart's latest album ‘A Tribute To Led Zeppelin,' which pays tribute to one of the most formative musical influences of her career. At the helm during the recording of ‘A Tribute To Led Zeppelin' was super-producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance) and engineer Doug McKean (Goo Goo Dolls, Adam Lambert). The A-list musicians include Cavallo on guitar along with Tim Pierce (Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner); on bass was Chris Chaney (Rob Zombie, Slash);on keyboards was Jamie Muhoberac (Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones); on drums was Dorian Crozier (Celine Dion, Miley Cyrus, Joe Cocker), and Matt Laug played drums on Stairway To Heaven (Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper). Orchestral arrangements were by David Campbell (Muse, Beyoncé). All that was left was the final piece of the puzzle...the voice. Things clicked into place when Cavallo was producing Hart's previous album, ‘War In My Mind' (2019), and she did an impromptu version of "Whole Lotta Love" in the studio. He later asked about doing a whole record. Earlier on in Beth's career, former VP of Led Zeppelin's Swan Song label, Alan Callan, recommended Beth contact Jeff Beck to work together. Hart and Beck have gone on to form a beautiful friendship. Beck and Jimmy Page are also friends, and for a while, bandmates in The Yardbirds. After Beck's departure from the band, they would eventually become Led Zeppelin. We want to hear from you! She discusses how she made LOL in France and what it was like to remake it in America, the differences in the filmmaking culture, working with kids, editing, how she made I love America and so much more. It was an absolute joy talking with Lisa. She's a truly amazing artist and filmmaker. So, sit back, relax and enjoy this week's episode with Lisa Azuelos. I LOVE AMERICA is out now! On this edition of Parallax Views, Ari Rabin-Havt, deputy campaign manager for Bernie Sanders's 2020 presidential campaign, joins me for a brief 20 minute about his new campaign memoir The Fighting Soul: On the Road With Bernie Sanders. Rabin-Havt provides not only a behind-the-scenes look at the Sanders campaign but also a rare glimpse into the passionate Vermont Senator himself that gets beyond what one saw from him in televised appearances, town halls, and Presidential debates. Most of this conversation focuses on how Bernie developed a greater confidence in his foreign policy views and detailing his fight to pass the Yemen War Powers Act/Resolution alongside seemingly unlikely allies Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT). We also discuss Bernie's 2018 lunch with then Iranian foreign minister Javad Zaraf, an anecdote about Bernie Sanders and America's most prominent Israel lobby AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee), Bernie's love of mo-town, an exchange between Barack Obama and Bernie that illustrates Bernie's principles, and an amusing story involving Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus. Be sure to pick of The Fighting Soul: On the Road With Bernie Sanders as this only covers a small slice of a book that is a fast-paced, rollicking read throughout. In the second segment of the show, former Senior Federal Reserve official Thomas M. Hoenig joins me to discuss the aftermath of the global financial crisis and his opposition to Quantitative Easing, "Too Big To Fail Banks", and support for a new, modernized Glass-Steagall Act to break up mega-banks. As listeners of Parallax Views may recall, Hoenig was recently featured as the main protagonist of recent guest Christopher Leonard's The Lords of Easy Money: How the Federal Broke the American Economy. In Leonard's book, which covers the Federal Reserve's policies in the years following the 2008 financial crisis, Hoenig is the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City who consistently (and in opposition to other Federal Reserve officials) votes "No" on proposed policies. Although painted as being merely an "anti-inflation hawk", Leonard says this is a misrepresentation and that Hoenig saw how Quantitative Easing was hurting rather than helping the ordinary citizens of Main Street America. In this conversation, Hoenig explains exactly how he saw policies like Quantitative Easing and the belief in "Too Big To Fail Banks" as having negative consequences for ordinary America. Hoenig is unfiltered in the course of our discussion and expresses his pro-market views, small "c" conservative views while also noting the ways in which some of his views have overlapped with liberal and left-wing figures like Bernie Sanders and Sherrod Brown. This conversation doesn't get into a debate about politics, but rather allows Hoenig to express his views. All in all it is hope by Parallax Views that this is seen as a fascinating discussion with a former major figure from the Federal Reserve who now serves as a Distinguished Fellow for the Mercatus Center.

We all have an idea on what it takes to get the music process from creation to consumption. The path taken has changed dramatically and historically over the past 20 years or so. At the same time, the one thing that has remained constant is that people love to create, and people love to listen. With all the new technology and ways to distribute music, how does the creative person, while rising above the clutter of all the releases out in the world, ensure that you get properly compensated for your work? The consumer end of things have stabilized to a point where the listener can find your music, but at the same time, can the money trail find you as the official owner and registrant of your material? What if you're a co-writer on a song? Do you know the legal name(s) of the other writers on your song? Do you have the proper metadata to ensure that your songs are registered properly? There are 5 identifiers which control who's doing what when it comes to registering your song, and these are used worldwide. Niclas Molinder and his partners have created a new company called “Session” which can help simplify the process for you, and code your creative content with those five identifiers that will help smooth the revenue stream for you. Niclas Molinder is an award-winning songwriter, music producer and musician who also leads several organizations focused on transforming the music industry's management of data and rights for the benefit of creators. After 20 years of songwriting and producing for artists such as Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Mary J Blige and The Jonas Brothers, as well as running his own publishing company RedFly Music – the Swedish entrepreneur has become the figurehead for pioneering solutions for the massive value gap in the music industry. In 2019, Niclas Molinder partnered with Bjorn Ulvaeus (of ABBA fame) and Max Martin to found Session, the world's first independent global hub for authoritative music metadata sourced from creators, built to ensure creators get the credit they deserve. Molinder's vision is to bring the global music industry and technologists together to create a standard for how music creators and their representatives are identified in their contribution to songs - so everyone can get credited and correctly compensated when their music is used. In 2016, Niclas also founded Music Rights Awareness Foundation, an apolitical foundation that works to provide an educational solution to the value gap in industry, by increasing knowledge of music rights worldwide, adjusted to the future industry. www.session.id The Business Side of Music ™ © 2022 Lotta Dogs Productions LLC Showrunner and Executive Producer Emeritus: Tom Sabella Producer and Host (the guy who has a face for podcasting): Bob Bender Co-Producer - Audio/Video Editor (the man behind the curtain): Mark Sabella Director of Video and Continuity (the brains of the entire operation): Deborah Halle Marketing and Social Media (all knowing): Sarah Fleshner for 362 Entertainment All Around Problem Solver (and Mental Health Therapist for us): Connie Ribas Recorded inside an old beat up Airstream Trailer located somewhere on what's left of Music Row in Nashville TN (except during pandemics, then it's pretty much been accomplished VIA Zoom or over the phone, with the exception for those fearless enough to come to Bob Bender's dining room… and there have been a few that have survived). Welcome to another episode of Broken Records, the podcast which desperately scours the music world and tries to answer that age old question; what is the worst album ever made? This week Steve and Remfry have a hot contender on their hands as they look at Paula by Robin Thicke, the 7th studio album from the soul-pop lothario, released on the 1st of July 2014. Thicke had a pretty decent decade long career in the music industry by 2013, he may not have scaled the heights of a Justin Timberlake or an Usher, but his brand of slinky, sexy, soul was popular enough to earn him a decent following in the US, where he appeared on Oprah and supported Beyonce. But it all changed for him when he released the song Blurred Lines in 2013. The song, as we are sure you're aware, was a monolithic hit, dominating the airwaves for the entire year, but came with plenty of criticism and controversy, the ugly sexual politics of the song were condemned by many, Thicke stirred the pot further with a overly sexualised performance at the 2013 MTV Awards with Miley Cyrus and the estate of Marvin Gaye launched a plagiarism lawsuit against the song as well. Thicke himself was now at the centre of a media storm, and when allegations of drugs, violence and infidelity came out in the aftermath, his wife of 9 years Paula Patton filed for divorce. Most people would take time away form the spotlight to address these problems in private, but Robin Thicke decided to do the absolute opposite of that, writing and recording an album named after his wife in a mere 7 week period that detailed their relationship in painstakingly minute detail in the vain hope of winning her back. It didn't. It was a critical and commercial flop, and turned Thicke from one of the biggest stars in music into a washed up nobody practically overnight. Whether this is any good or not we will get to, but in terms of career suicide and a fall from grace, there aren't many albums that can get close to Paula.

Ninety-seven percent of people who begin a novel don’t finish it. But what about all the people who finish it and then set it aside? What happens to that novel in a drawer? Well … sometimes it goes to novel heaven and finds a publisher–and we have proof. In this episode we talk to Holiday Mathis (who was our guest in episode 23, The Daily Grind), and she tells us how she wrote her new novel, why she set it aside, why she picked it up again, what she learned from the experience, how the world changed since it was written, and what she would say to that younger self that hid away the project in the drawer. Other possible titles for this episode were “overcoming creative self-consciousness” and “creative seasons.” It’s an episode for all who doubt their work, for all who doubt themselves, and for all who need that little nudge to put themselves and their work out there again. Holiday Mathis writes the daily horoscope for The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and hundreds of newspapers around the world. In her decades-long syndication she's published over 8 million words on luck, the stars and the human condition. She's also a multi-platinum selling songwriter with songs recorded by Miley Cyrus, Emma Roberts and more. On Cyrus Says this week we are joined by Hemali Sodhi, founder of 'A Suitable Agency' and editor of 'The Book of Dog'. Is it really true if you feed a dog, the dog will never bite you? Cyrus has written a chapter in this book about his love for dogs and today we have the editor of the book Hemali on the show. They talk about their love for dogs, how Hemali didn't grow up as a dog lover and later got converted to loving them to the point of finally compiling a book about the love of dogs. Cyrus tells us his story of going with his dog Luciano to a book store, and the beauty of seeing the connection between his dog and an old person at the store. They further talk about how Hemali got the idea of curating this book with other people contributing their stories about dogs as chapters, which stories are Hemali's favourites in the book, what breed of dogs Cyrus has and how some breeders are doing dog breeding as just business, not keeping in mind the welfare of the animals. They also talk about people who don't like dogs, building societies having weird rules like not allowing dogs into lifts, parks, etc, how dog names should be on point and why some overused dog names should be retired (looking at you Tommy). Tune in for this and much more. You can follow Hemali Sodhi onFacebook :- facebook@hemalisodhi, Twitter: https://twitter.com/hemalisodhiInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/hemali.sodhi/Do send in AMA questions for Cyrus by tweeting them to @cyrussaysin or e-mailing them at email@example.comDon't forget to follow Cyrus Broacha on Instagram @cyrus_broacha(https://www.instagram.com/cyrus_broacha)In case you're late to the party and want to catch up on previous episodes of Cyrus Says you can do so at: www.ivmpodcasts.com/cyrussaysYou can listen to this show and other awesome shows on the new and improved IVM Podcasts App on Android: https://ivm.today/android or iOS: https://ivm.today/ios
