When a child dies, some say their spirit lingers—not to haunt, but to remind us that love never truly fades. This gripping, emotional true story—told on Real Ghost Stories Online—follows a man devastated by the loss of his infant son. After countless attempts to have a child, the couple finally welcomed a baby boy. But joy quickly turned to heartbreak. The child passed away from complications just a month after birth… and what followed was a spiral of unbearable grief. The father, broken and drunk, was found sobbing at his child's grave, clutching a handgun. The police standoff could've ended in tragedy. But somehow, it didn't. What happened next, however, was just as unexplainable. On a visit to the cemetery, the car radio turned on by itself—blaring “Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails. Out of a 5-disc CD changer with dozens of tracks, that one song began playing. Later that night, the same exact song played again—on a mainstream pop radio station known for Goo Goo Dolls and Hootie & the Blowfish, not industrial rock. And then… the baby's bedroom light turned on. No one was in the house. No one had touched a switch. They turned it off. It turned back on. Something was trying to get their attention. #RealGhostStories #ParanormalActivity #BabySpirit #GriefHaunting #TrueGhostStory #HurtNineInchNails #RadioParanormal #UnexplainedLights #GhostSigns #SpiritOfTheDead #BaltimoreHaunting #RealHauntingPodcast Love real ghost stories? Few musicians are as well known around town as Robby Takac from "Goo Goo Dolls.” In the middle of a nationwide tour, and in conjunction with the promotion of their recently released new album, Robby took time out to chat with Peter about his roots in the community, the journey of the “Goos” from co-founding to current live shows, and the upcoming continuation of the wildly successful local festival known at "Music Is Art.” But first, Peter welcomes Sarah Foote to the microphone, as they discuss her recent appointment to the all-important role of General Manager of RLTP.

On this week's episode of Friends Talking Nerdy, Professor Aubrey and Tim the Nerd head outside—at least in spirit—to share some of their most memorable moments under the open sky.Professor Aubrey kicks things off by reminiscing about her adventures at some of her favorite outdoor gatherings, from the groundbreaking feminist energy of Lilith Fair in the '90s to the dazzling displays at the Portland Winter Lights Festival. She dives into the playful and creative atmosphere of Soak, Oregon's regional Burning Man event, and celebrates the whimsical, free-spirited culture of the Oregon Country Fair—along with her experiences at Burning Man itself.Tim the Nerd then takes a nostalgic tour through his own list of unforgettable outdoor events. He recalls the former Festival of the Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the intimate It Festival at Lamar Park in 1995—back when Jewel and The Goo Goo Dolls were still up-and-coming acts who performed there. He also relives the chaotic fun of the 1988 Potter's House Royal Rumble held at his grade school, his serene time at Breitenbush Hot Springs, and the thrill of seeing the California Angels take on the Detroit Tigers at Tiger Stadium on June 17th, 1990.In the second half of the episode, Professor Aubrey shares her excitement about attending the Oregon Country Fair in 2025. Although the event has already happened by the time you hear this, the conversation was recorded beforehand, giving listeners a peek at her anticipation, hopes, and plans for the beloved countercultural celebration. As always, we wish to thank Christopher Lazarek for his wonderful theme song. Hello, music lovers! Welcome to Why Music Matters, a podcast where we examine the power and influence that music can wield in our lives. I'm your host, Jeff Miers. On today's episode, we're celebrating the Goo Goo Dolls, and in particular, the 30th anniversary of their mainstream breakthrough album, A Boy Named Goo. Though the band had already been around for a decade by the time they released this album, which would go on to reach double platinum sales status, A Boy Named Goo pushed the band over the edge, largely on the strength of the timeless hit, Name. This summer, the band is on the road, co-headlining the Summer Anthem Tour, alongside Dashboard Confessional. That tour hits KeyBank Center in Buffalo on August 9 - nearly 30 years after the Goos played the very first show in what was then known as Marine Midland Arena, on September 21, 1996. I caught up with Goos co-founder and bassist Robby Takac from the road, a few days into the Summer Anthem Tour, and we talked about A Boy Named Goo; the new generation of Goo Goo Dolls fans who discovered the band through social media outlets; the level of excitement surrounding this summer's shows; his upcoming Music is Art Festival - which takes place in and around the Terminal B Amphitheater on Buffalo's Outer Harbor on Saturday, September 20 - and the whole long, strange, and largely wonderful trip that has led the Goo Goo Dolls from the stages of Buffalo clubs to the arenas of the world. Welcome back to Why Music Matters, Robby Takac! Produced by 678Main Studio and Creative Services https://678main.com

Goo Goo Dolls formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York, and by the time 1998 rolled around, they'd already had a pretty successful career. They'd released five albums, and one of their songs, “Name,” from 1995, had become a Top 10 hit. But things really changed for them when they made the song “Iris.” It originally came out on the soundtrack for the movie City of Angels, which came out in 1998 and starred Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan. “Iris” spent a record-breaking 18 weeks at number one on the radio, and became one of the best selling songs of all time, with over 14 million copies sold, and over 4.5 billion streams. So for this episode, John Rzeznik of Goo Goo Dolls came over to my place, and he told me about how he wrote the song. He told me how the Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo helped them expand their vision, and how the version of the song in the movie isn't actually the version that everybody knows. For more info, visit songexploder.net/goo-goo-dolls.

In this incredible episode of Marrow Masters, we sit down with Kayla West, a stem cell donor from Texas, and Miriam Bauer, the mother of a young leukemia survivor Miley, from Oklahoma. This story is a deeply emotional journey of hope, resilience, and a connection that transcends bloodlines. Kayla and Miriam take us through the entire transplant process from both perspectives: the donor stepping up during a pandemic, and the caregiver navigating a life-threatening diagnosis in a child. We begin with Kayla's decision to join the donor registry after a chance encounter with DKMS at a Goo Goo Dolls concert. She didn't expect to be called to donate, but when she was, during COVID lockdown, she jumped at the chance to help someone—anyone—in need. That “anyone” turned out to be Miley, an eleven-year-old girl who had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and urgently needed a transplant after two brutal rounds of chemotherapy.Miriam recounts those terrifying early days at St. Jude, from the moment of diagnosis through the chaos of the early pandemic lockdowns. She was Miley's only caregiver during a 248-day hospital stay. Her story is filled with moments of heartbreak and triumph, from failed chemo rounds to the joy of reaching remission and finding a viable donor in Kayla. We learn how transplant coordination works, how donor cells were frozen and shipped during COVID, and how little details—like celebrating donor day or choosing a transplant date that coincides with family birthdays—brought joy in dark times.Post-transplant, Miley's life has been a mix of recovery and lingering health effects, but she's thriving. Miriam emphasizes advocacy, honesty, and self-care for caregivers. Kayla, for her part, reflects on the overwhelming emotion of learning she was a match, undergoing all the testing during COVID, and then finally meeting the recipient of her cells in an unforgettable reunion in New York. The two families, now bonded for life, meet regularly and have built a deep friendship. Next up: A trip for Kayla's family to Oklahoma to experience a powwow with Miriam, Miley, and their family! The videos below will have you reaching for the tissues and hopefully inspire many to get swabbed.Kayla also shares her decision to launch a nonprofit, SETX Leukemia Organization, focused on educating communities and recruiting new donors. Her goal is to prevent other families from facing what Miriam's did—wondering if there will be a match in time. Kayla's drive, born from her experience, continues to ripple outwards as she recruits more potential donors at local events with DKMS support. This episode isn't just about survival—it's about connection, purpose, and what can happen when strangers become family through an act of extraordinary generosity.SETX Leukemia Organization (Kayla's nonprofit): https://setxleukemia.org/DKMS (Be The Match partner organization): https://www.dkms.orgDKMS Video about Kayla, Miley, and Miriam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNhwRxXMbw8Thanks to our Season 17 Sponsors:Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS): https://lls.org/and Incyte: https://incyte.com/ National Bone Marrow Transplant Link - (800) LINK-BMT, or (800) 546-5268.nbmtLINK Website: https://www.nbmtlink.org/nbmtLINK Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/nbmtLINKFollow the nbmtLINK on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/nbmtlink/The nbmtLINK YouTube Page can be found by clicking here.To participate in the GVHD Mosaic, click here: https://amp.livemosaics.com/gvhd

This week we celebrate bands that can re-imagine their songs with acoustic instruments and still rock! We are pulling the plug… and gasping for air… guitars! Electric artists have been playing acoustically since the beginning of recorded music. Most songwriters start the process with an acoustic instrument and capturing the sound of a song on just wire and wood has a vulnerable, human feel to it. What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss the FORGOTTEN. Mtv started a series in 1989 called “unplugged”, and almost every mainstream relevant act started producing acoustic albums or versions of their songs. This week we listen to some artist that you may have never considered as having acoustic interpretations of their songs.Songs this week include:The Gems – “Like A Phoenix (Acoustic Version)” from Phoenix (2024)Cicadstone – “Burn Your Name (Acoustic)” from Future Echoes (Acoustic EP) (2024)Dokken – “In My Dreams” from One Live Night (1996) Rise Against – “Swing Life Away” from Punk Goes Acoustic (2003)Twelve Foot Ninja – “Kingdom (Acoustic)” from Mutant Dreams And Face Transplants: An Acoustic Experience (2024)Joey Eppard – “Dregs” from Joey Eppard Live In Concert (2013)Megadeth – “Symphony Of Destruction (Acoustic Live)” from Unplugged In Boston (Live 2001) (2001)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it: InObscuria StoreCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

His diverse portfolio further encompasses engineering or production credits for The Splat Cats and a significant number of Manowar albums. Poor Zak Starkey. First he was fired from The Who; then he was rehired by The Who. Now he's officially been "retired" from The Who. Jack details "the Zak Starkey saga" for Becky and Molly McAleer, and why Starkey isn't performing with his OTHER former band Oasis during their reunion tour. Elsewhere, Jack tells Becky and Molly about a bizarre story out of New York City. 2 wannabe socialites kept an ex-business partner captive in their townhome in order to extract the account information for his crypto fortune. Not only were the captors unsuccessful, but now they're facing some serious charges. Plus, according to folks in their circle, they just weren't fun to be around. Also discussed in this mammoth installment of Hardly Focused: Molly is performing 2 shows in Boston! See her June 25 at Laugh Boston, and June 26 at City Winery, alongside Rob Schulte and Meredith Lynch! Goo Goo Dolls' "Name" is about MTV VJ-turned-political commentator Lisa Kennedy, whom Becky was once told she looks like. On this week's Talkhouse Podcast we've got two old friends who've contributed more than their fair share to the emo world and beyond and lived to tell the tale: Evan Weiss and Chris Carrabba. Carrabba is of course the main creative force behind Dashboard Confessional, whose early albums—specifically The Swiss Army Romance and The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most—basically invented the genre's confessional acoustic-based era. He could've made those records a dozen times over the past 20 years, but instead Carrabba filled out Dashboard's sound over the years, stretching out where the muse took him. Now an elder statesman, Carrabba returned to that simpler sound but brought years of wisdom with him for 2022's All the Truth That I Can Tell, which he talks about in this great chat. Dashboard will head out on a long summer tour with Goo Goo Dolls starting July 13, but not before playing a show with Weiss's band in Vegas the day before. Weiss's band would be Pet Symmetry, a trio he's been part of for the past decade or so, and which just released an excellent new album: Big Symmetry is a big, loveable, tuneful set of songs that all start with the word “big.” It's a joyful blast of pop-punk that feels like a deliberate antidote to tough times. It may also be a bit of a reaction to what fans would consider Weiss's main band, Into It. Over It., which flies that emo flag a bit higher. But whatever, those tags are pretty silly when we ought to be talking about songs. Speaking of, check out the song “Big Wish” from the album Big Symmetry right here. In this wide-ranging chat, Carrabba and Weiss talk about the holiness of punk community, the accidental origins of Dashboard Confessional plus that band's long hiatus and rebirth, and how the financial collapse of 2008 had opposite effects on their careers. It's true! Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to Chris Carrabba and Evan Weiss for chatting. In this episode, we're joined by Peter Cortner—renowned for his iconic role as the frontman of the legendary punk band Dag Nasty. Of course we hit on the "Wig Out At Denkos" and "Field Day" albums. We also talk about Cortner's really cool new band, Applied Knowledge, who release their debut album in May.“Easily the equal of the Replacements at their best -- and as much a forebear of the Goo Goo Dolls' eventual success as a Minneapolis quartet -- Field Day is just that for the group. Peter Cortner's singing in a mere year's time has moved from the edgy, high-pitched rasp of Wig Out to include a ruminative, gently expressing tone, with more vocal control and a sweet edge than one will find in most of the band's peers. As for his lyrics, besides the analysis of personal interaction that defined earlier Dag Nasty material, Cortner addresses everything from being in a band and wanting to write "songs, powerful songs" to reflections on death, loss, and separation”. -All Music MusicApplied Knowledge "Earthlink"Music ClipsApplied Knowledge "Not Too Far"The Charms "So Pretty"The Dogmatics "I Love Rock N Roll"Produced and Hosted by Steev Riccardo

Hey there, music lovers. Welcome to Why Music Matters, a podcast where we examine the power and influence that music can wield in our lives. I'm your host, Jeff Miers. Today on the podcast, I'm excited to welcome two members of Letter To Elise, a young indie band that has already left a mark on the Western New York music scene, and is poised to take its soaring, anthemic sound out into the broader world. Vocalist, songwriter and band founder Elliott Hunt and keyboardist/vocalist Chris Lillis bring an edgy urgency to their emotional, grandiose take on modern indie pop and alternative rock. Their sound is at once familiar and fresh, and offers a unique take on indie tropes and the sort of pop hooks that helped to build the careers of artists like The Killers, Cage the Elephant and Catfish and the Bottle Men. And Hunt's emotionally intelligent lyrics and indelible vocal melodies reveal the influence of heritage artist like U2 and Bruce Springsteen. During our chat, Elliott and Chris discuss their earliest musical epiphanies, their diverse musical influences, their recent joint cover of the Killers' ‘Mr. Brightside' with Goo Goo Dolls co-founder Robby Takac and members of the Bills Mafia, and their soon-to-be-released new EP, the result of a new and exciting partnership with producer Lennon Leppert.
