Folks in organizing circles say that Power requires Organized Money and Organized People. This congregation does an excellent job of organizing its money every Sunday, and sharing generously with important partners. What else is possible if we organize our people similarly? What would it take for us to take our organizing and mobilization to the next level? Join us for a dialogue with poets and movement mediators to explore what else might be possible as we get stronger and clearer together. (And don't miss the next installment in the story series, As The Acorn Sprouts, where our acorns learn to organize!) Words of Welcome- Rev. Jen Crow (:30) Poem- The Butterfly Effect by Rev. After over a year of being physically apart, this Sunday, June 13 marks our first time together in person and online as a church community when we gather at the Lake Harriet Bandshell and on zoom. How will it feel to be together in person? How will it feel to be online when others can gather face-to-face? What will it be like? As people of faith, we promise to pay attention, to be curious with ourselves and each other, and to make room for all of who we are and all of the feelings and experiences that arise. We've got this, together. Words of Welcome- Rev. Jen Crow (:30) Prelude- How Can I Keep From Singing, First Universalist Choir, Dr. Randal Buikema conducting, Franco Holder on piano (6:09) Story for All Ages- Just Ask by Sonia Sotomayor- Jill Braithwaite (10:56) Reading- Spilling the Light by Rev. Rev. Sean Neil-Barron reframes our present moment, exploring America not as a divided nation, but rather as a wounded and traumatized nation in need of healing. Referencing Rev. Theresa Soto, Rev. Sean reminds us that "all of us need all of us to survive,” and there are no winners or losers in beloved community.   Read Rev. Theresa I. Is unrest destructive or productive? As protest and unrest erupt across our country, we'll pause and reflect on the history of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, the Stonewall Riot, and how movements for liberation have dealt with police brutality and other state-sanctioned violence in our national history. Check out the reading from the Rev. Theresa I. Soto here and the piece by Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray here. The quote from the reading that gets cut off at the beginning is, "Being free is not a license, but a promise." --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/uucheyenne/message

On a day when Irish descendants celebrate their roots, I want to think a bit what it means to risk all and immigrate to Canada. It’s a delicate subject these days since, as a society, we are contemplating the impact of colonizers. But today I want to consider the journeys more than the politics. 00:00 1 Welcome 02:01 2 Prelude “The Minstrel Boy” by The Coors 04:22 3 Opening Words “Come into This Place” by Margaret Weis 05:08 4 Kindling the Chalice “Refuge” by Amy Carol Webb 05:42 5 Hymn #188 “Come, Come, Whoever You Are” 07:05 6 Kindling a Candle against the Hate (CUC Statement on mosque shooting in Christchurch NZ) 09:08 7 Kindling the Children's Chalice, Recessional 10:01 8 Candles of Care and Connection 11:57 9 Sharing Our Abundance, Andrew Mills 13:02 10 “Time Dance '92” by Bill Whelan 15:23 11 Receiving the Offering 15:58 12 Community Question 18:01 13 Hymn #159 “This Is My Song” 20:00 14 Sermon “Journey to This Land” 38:17 15 Meditation “Welcoming the Stranger” by Theresa Soto & Tracy Bleakney 40:13 16 “Minstrel Boy” by The Coors 42:29 17 Hymn #1064 “Blue Boat Home” 46:04 18 Closing Words 46:25 19 “Carry the Flame” Readings Margaret Weis, “Come into This Place”, https://www.uua.org/worship/words/opening/come-place Amy Carol Webb, “Refuge”, https://www.uua.org/worship/words/chalice-lighting/refuge Theresa I. Soto, Tracy Bleakney, “Welcoming the Stranger Home”, https://www.uua.org/worship/words/chalice-lighting/welcoming-stranger The Unitarian Church of Edmonton is a liberal, multi-generational, religious community. We celebrate a rich mosaic of free-thinking, spiritually-questing individuals joined in common support and action. We welcome diversity including diversity of beliefs from divine believers to humanists, from pagans to atheists and agnostics. We believe in the compassion of the human heart, the warmth of community, the pursuit of justice and the search of meaning in our lives. We gather with gratitude on traditional Cree lands that are now a part of Treaty Six and shared by many nations. A treaty is an inheritance, a responsibility and a relationship. May we be good neighbours to one another, good stewards to our planet and good ancestors to our children.
