This is the show you need after the sun has gone down. There will be interviews, me talking friends, and sometimes I’ll just vomit out whatever comes to mind if I feel so inclined! Topics will be mostly Horror and film related, though do expect digressions periodically.

Aly After Dark Episode 04 - A Conversation with James Dean, yes that one

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 1, 2020 64:44

Listen as our brains decline from exhaustion and allergies in this episode with my friend and collaborator James Dean. We discuss our favorite indie directors, being thoughtful and respectful while still making an exploitation movie, the differences going from super low budget to low budget movie making, nunsploitation, Maniac Nun, our previous collaborations, visiting filming locations, and malls. Throw in a little bit of music stuff and we've got an episode. Check out James all over the place!Twitter: https://twitter.com/jamesd7004/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBt0ZsMEbHiJTXxlORBLBZA Maniac Nun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLFDYFBfvAA (Original short)Arrival: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqtQZ6AG-ds (I did the music on this one.)Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Monster-Kid-Productions-106216287826802/ (Check here for consistent updates on the post-production of Fountaine and the Vengeful Nun That Wouldn't Die, tailers, and whatever else is released from Monster Kid Productions!)

In tonight's episode of Aly After Dark I have John Brenna who is currently working on The Last Drive-In as Production Manager and Music Superivor on Shudder. He wrote and recorded the opening and ending themes. Basically any music you hear not in the movie is John. He is a very accomplished musician playing all his life. He has released true American Classics such as "The Lizard Took a Shit and it Smells Like Human Shit," "Don't Get That Coke in my Dickhole," and "Come on Mary Lou (It's Prom Night 2)". You can check out his entire oeuvre here: https://shopjb.bandcamp.com/We have a discussion about how we got into music and horror movies, Troma, our musical beginnings, and so much more. There's some talk about Halloween and John Carpenter (The topic just comes up every episdoe, I can't help it. I love them too much), there's a little bit of a behind the scenes look at how the music is recorded on The Last Drive-In, and a few teases of what's to come in season 3. Get your little tidbits of information right here and salivate you mutant freaks! I love y'all, thank you for listening. John did all the heavy lifting for me here, I didn't have to do anything. I only had to edit out three uhms and a couple silent parts, that it. This was the easiest episode to edit yet. Anyway, this episode is a blast if you like music, how it's made, horror movies, and even more music. John plays us out with his song, "Hamburgers". He surprised me, I had no idea the guitar was just right there! Enjoy everyone! Check out John Brennan's social media accounts. They're all variations on bad techno. Also here's John's bandcamp again, LISTEN TO THE MUSIC! He's been doing it for a long time and has some great stuff. I've bought mulitple singles on vinyl and a cassette from him. Listening in order is really cool because you get to see how he grows as an artist. There were so many shout outs in the episode if you want me to put your social media links here feel free to shoot me an email at alyafterdark@gmail.com and I will!Bandcamp: https://shopjb.bandcamp.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/badtechnohttps://shiptoshoremedia.com/ - A killer company with stellar releases of game soundtracks, city pop, Joe Bob stuff, and many more things. Check them out!https://deathbombarc.com/ - Still selling cassettes and they have amazing music!

This was a great episode to record. Y'all should have May on your podcasts and just talk with her. She's a quality human being. So this is a longer episode than the last one because there's some very important subjects discussed such as what it's like being transgender within the horror community, the Halloween series, talk about ideas on how to bridge the generational gap of horror fans, The Dog Dick Incident TM, and May's awesome music which is right here https://nyxfears.bandcamp.com/ ! Check her out on https://twitter.com/nyxfears and https://www.youtube.com/user/BrutalMovieReview and of course support her on Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/nyxfears

Aly After Dark Episode 01 - A Conversation with Lloyd Kaufman of Troma

I've been wanting to do a podcast for a while now, and here it is, EPISODE 1! I have a few episodes in the can so I have a little backlog for y'all. However, I'm not going to be releasing them in order because I figured let's start big. Through the help of my friend Joe Randazzo I was able to be put in touch with Lloyd Kaufman co-founder of Troma Entertainment and co-creator of New Jersey's first superhero 'The Toxic Avenger'! I've been watching Troma for years. I've lost count of how many I've seen at this point. We do a little talking about sweet corn, Toxie, anime, media consolidation, our families, and of course Uncle Lloydie's latest Tromatic experience #ShakespeareShitstorm! It soon will have its world premiere at Fantasia Film Festival on August 29th! If you're interested in more Troma, you should go check out their streaming service TromaNOW! It's 4.99 a month and you get the fist month entirely free. All the money goes to keeping one of the oldest independent film studios alive and allows for more art to be made. http://watch.troma.com/ I promise you, it's worth your time. Even if you're not a fan of the movies, the documentaries and behind the scenes videos are invaluable to any creative. Get your stuff made and seen by people!Anyway, I hope you enjoy the first episode. I've got a lot more coming on down the line. The plan for now is to have it up every two weeks around Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. See you in a couple weeks!Your Horror Tran, Alice Collins
