Join me as I invite friends on the podcast to talk about the super easy topic of Critical Race Theory. And shocker for you - we don't have the answers. I also introduce a new Dickhole...well, new to the ranks of this podcast anyway. Cheers my 24 ears!
Holy smokes! It's that time of year again?! And we're ACTUALLY DOING IT THIS TIME?!!@ You got that right, pal. Buckle up, we're ghoul-summering this week! This year's Ghoul Summer made possible by the DuPont Chemical Corporation and listeners like you. You and DuPont: there's a lot of good chemistry between us! BUY A GHOUL SUMMER SHIRT HERE! Up first! It's 1992's Man Bites Dog, a black & white Belgian pseudo-documentary/comedy ... from the Criterion Collection? Did we get that right? Well, since it's comedically pseudo-documenting the horrific day-to-day exploits of a serial killer, it definitely counts! Laugh along with us until we recoil in disgust. Next up! There's only ONE filmmaker that Parker Bowman is willing to pledge lifelong Ghoul Summer allegiance, but until now he's been officially banned from selecting one of that filmmaker's finest films. That filmmaker, of course, is Bill Zebub, and the film is Antfarm Dickhole (from 2011), and since the guy who banned Parker from picking it is now a ghost, all bets are off. Will we be charmed by these ants or these dickholes? Finally! Of course, it's 2012's The Act of Killing, that documentary where the real-world perpertrators of the Indonesian genocide recreate their heinous crimes decades later for the delight of a pervese British man. Also on Criterion!! All this plus a ghoul winter proposal, a lightning round of topics, the high price of 'Hired Stud, Will Travel', Parker's extracuricular ghouldom, multiple Toms, funky triple-x, repeat business, the sadness of Kevin, anteater effects, chemical mishaps, podcasting crossovers, a t-shirt for the ages, Peter Pan: Dick Magnet, here comes Parker with the giggles again, taro-flavored ultra-milk, all of the segments played exactly one time, ethical quandries, nerd news and even more! Recorded live-to-tape on National Can Opener Day, 2021!! Direct Donloyd HereGot a movie suggestion for the show, or better yet an opinion on next week's movies? In tonight's episode of Aly After Dark I have John Brenna who is currently working on The Last Drive-In as Production Manager and Music Superivor on Shudder. He wrote and recorded the opening and ending themes. Basically any music you hear not in the movie is John. He is a very accomplished musician playing all his life. He has released true American Classics such as "The Lizard Took a Shit and it Smells Like Human Shit," "Don't Get That Coke in my Dickhole," and "Come on Mary Lou (It's Prom Night 2)". You can check out his entire oeuvre here: https://shopjb.bandcamp.com/We have a discussion about how we got into music and horror movies, Troma, our musical beginnings, and so much more. There's some talk about Halloween and John Carpenter (The topic just comes up every episdoe, I can't help it. I love them too much), there's a little bit of a behind the scenes look at how the music is recorded on The Last Drive-In, and a few teases of what's to come in season 3. Get your little tidbits of information right here and salivate you mutant freaks! I love y'all, thank you for listening. John did all the heavy lifting for me here, I didn't have to do anything. I only had to edit out three uhms and a couple silent parts, that it. This was the easiest episode to edit yet. Anyway, this episode is a blast if you like music, how it's made, horror movies, and even more music. John plays us out with his song, "Hamburgers". He surprised me, I had no idea the guitar was just right there! Enjoy everyone! Check out John Brennan's social media accounts. They're all variations on bad techno. Also here's John's bandcamp again, LISTEN TO THE MUSIC! He's been doing it for a long time and has some great stuff. I've bought mulitple singles on vinyl and a cassette from him. Listening in order is really cool because you get to see how he grows as an artist. There were so many shout outs in the episode if you want me to put your social media links here feel free to shoot me an email at alyafterdark@gmail.com and I will!Bandcamp: https://shopjb.bandcamp.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/badtechnohttps://shiptoshoremedia.com/ - A killer company with stellar releases of game soundtracks, city pop, Joe Bob stuff, and many more things. Check them out!https://deathbombarc.com/ - Still selling cassettes and they have amazing music!

Molly used to work in a sex shop and she met some very peculiar individuals, but her retail adventures pale in comparison to her own personal stories, from piss to shit and everything in between Molly has done it all. We talk about drugs, sex and rock and roll, this ones a beauty.

This week I'm joined by two guests: Mike Gebert, excellent food writer/editor of Fooditor (fooditor.com) and Chef Won Kim, food magician behind Kimski (kimskichicago.com // 954-960 W 31st St, Chicago, IL 60608). Fooditor just published its annual must-read "Fooditor 99" collection of places to eat in Chicago, and for this episode we went to Kimski (which is one of the 99). Chef Won Kim arrived with veritable Kimski buffet which didn't last long in the Mazda. Buy The Fooditor 99: Where To Eat and What To Eat There: 2019 Edition Eat at Kimski. KIMSKI SEGMENT "Ko-Po" cuisine: Did Mike make up that name? Where did the Korean/Polish cuisine concept come from? Regulated pre-show shots were consumed. You'd never guess what's behind the doors of Kimski if you walked by on the street ("we wanted something cool, and something modernist"). Regarding Yelp: Never read the comments. The Kimski food is amazing. We sampled: The Maria Standard, which started it all. Kimski makes its own sauerkraut, and it's really good. They also make their own soju mustard. Holy crap. Gołąbki: Polish cabbage rolls with a meat chili sauce. Polish dumplings, similar to gnocchi. Kopu Wangs (Wings). Complex and delicious, and they made me swear. Kimski poutine. Wow. I could have had that for a meal. Trips to Pekin House on Devon Avenue back in the day. Chef Won's appearances on the Food Network ("Cutthroat Kitchen" and "some really shitty show with Anne Burrell"). Kimski's pork chop sandwich competition. Chef Won can use salty language at times ("don't ask stupid, tired questions"). FOODITOR SEGMENT Mike is a "frequent podcast guest." Food trends in Chicago. Is charcuterie still a trend? Oriole: A crown jewel in Chicago's restaurant scene "What's the point of living in a city this large and not taking advantage of its resources?" Roosevelt Road is Chicago's Berlin Wall. "Dickhole" is a Car Con Carne first! What restaurant is housed in a former "rub & tug?" Five Loaves: Nicest restaurant in its area. The always-consistent Duck Inn: Chef Hickey gets lots of praise. Smack Dab in Rogers Park: An "adorably woke cafe." Tempesta Market in West Town. I was drooling as Mike and Chef Won were talking about it. Mango Pickle: The Indian joint that's not on Devon Avenue. Schaumburg isn't just a chain restaurant mecca. passerrotto: For a "big, warm accessible meal." Pork brings us together. The Chicago restaurant "classics": Johnnie's Beef, Superdawg, Vito & Nick's, Pequod's, Lem's, Calumet Fisheries. My long history with Calumet Fisheries. Car Con Carne is presented by:

Episode 352: The gang discusses losing things in bodies, goose people, gas people, awful old photos, and Thanksgiving in Arkansas.
I had Reno comedian Matt Wiegand join me for a talk filled with copious amounts of non-sequiturs. We talk about squirrels with my face, the impregnating couch, furry conventions, interventions, starburst dicks, being a teacher, shitting in prison, jungle rules, and then we have a slight equipment failure!
In this episode, we talk about #AlternativeFacts and dudes who wear their dickhole in the back... why, just why?
