I deres storhedstid op gennem 70'erne, var der mange udskiftninger, nye sangskrivere og forsangere kom til, uden det svækkede salgstallene. On a cold rush hour morning, a good looking man, dressed in jeans and a baseball cap walked into a train station, carrying a violin case. He opened the case, dropped a few dollars in to encourage others to do the same. Over the next 45 minutes, he earned less than $35 for his performance. Most people simply walked by, barely stopping to listen to the classical violin piece, played flawlessly by the young man. Who was he? Joshua Bell, one of the world's most renowned musicians. As part of a social experiment, arranged by a writer from the Washington Post, he played for 45 minutes to see what would happen. The results are depressing. More than 1,000 people walked by missing a chance to hear this amazing musician perform. Depressing not just because they missed a once in a life time chance to hear Joshua Bell, but because their behavior is very typical of how we live our lives. We get so focused on the end game; we miss so much along the way. So the lesson for today, is not strictly business. Take a few minutes to listen to the music, explore something new, you and your business will be better for it. Send us a Text Message.Welcome to Episode 2 of The Anxious Rambler! If you missed Episode 1, you can catch it on our crossover podcast, Iconic Seasons, or on our new feed search for The Anxious Rambler. Today, Cassie joins me for a lively discussion we've had many times before: who are the best singers of all time? We're diving into our personal lists, debating whether technical skill or personal preference makes a singer great. In a fun twist, we'll be doing a draft where each of us picks our top ten singers, but there's a catch: we only get the songs they performed. Listen in as we banter, strategize, and perhaps get a little competitive over our musical choices. Who will make the cut for our desert island discography? Tune in to find out and join the conversation!I feel like Cassie won this round with bonus points for originality but text us your list or comment on the YouTube Playlist below. Woah-oh, Listen To The Music! That's right, we're Rockin' Down The Highway with The Doobie Brothers and their breakthrough sophomore album Toulouse Street! We trace the band's Pud origins as a biker band and watch them grow into one of the foundational pillars of rock for more than a decade. We'll talk about a Beatle-beating record, the mysterious and unknowable origins of Doobie (Do-Bee?), and the explosive hobby that sent Skunk Baxter to Congress. Their tight vocal harmonies and country rock-inspired fingerpicking set this album apart.. Whether you're a Snake Man or Jesus Is Just Alright With You, there's a whole lot to love on this record. And Connor would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you kids and your.. ugh, you know.Keep Spinning at www.SpinItPod.com!Thanks for listening!0:00 Intro1:18 Our Experience With The Doobie Brothers4:40 About The Doobie Brothers12:34 About Toulouse Street17:17 Awards & Accolades18:42 Fact Or Spin21:00 Michael Hossack Was Never Officially A Member Of The Band24:38 John Hartman Didn't Know What A Doobie Was32:09 They Beat The Beatles35:58 Rocket Scientist Skunk42:16 Album Art43:14 Listen To The Music46:45 Rockin' Down The Highway49:52 Mamaloi51:57 Toulouse Street54:17 Cotton Mouth56:00 Don't Start Me To Talkin'58:11 Jesus Is Just Alright With Me1:01:08 White Sun1:02:06 Disciple1:04:22 Snake Man1:06:10 Final Spin Hosted on Acast.
