I am very excited to welcome Ben Leonberg to Necronomicast as my first guest of 2026! Ben is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer known for his work in the horror and fantasy genres. He wrote and directed "Good Boy", a supernatural thriller told from the perspective of a dog named Indy. The film explores themes of loyalty, trauma, and perception, using a canine point of view to drive the narrative. "Good Boy" follows Indy and his owner, Todd, a young man with a chronic lung disease, as they move into Todd's late grandfather's rural home, where a malevolent supernatural presence gradually engulfs Todd, while his devoted dog attempts to rescue him. Widely considered as one of the top ten independent films of 2025, "Good Boy" is regarded as "a visually striking, emotionally devastating horror film that eschews genre conventions to deliver a uniquely haunting and conceptually ambitious experience." "Good Boy" is streaming now on Shudder! Ben Leonberg official website Musician Sam Boase-Miller's website Support Necronomicast with "Buy Me A Coffee"!

Filmmaker Ben Leonberg (GOOD BOY) joins Adam and Joe to discuss the making of his indie darling and working with his dog "Indy" as the film's star. From starting out working in commercial production in Massachusetts… to making dozens of short films and honing his craft… to the over 400 days that it took to shoot GOOD BOY with only himself and his wife as crew… to working with his own non-professionally trained dog "Indy" and how his lead's performance was crafted in editing… to the mad dash to get the film finished after it was accepted to the South By Southwest Film Festival… to his favorite screening of the film (so far), Ben's story is quickly becoming one of legend and will serve as immense inspiration for anyone who is dreaming of making a movie but tired of waiting for permission to do so. Also, Dr. Arwen provides "Hollywood Therapy" to a single father who is juggling his love for filmmaking with his day job and the boys react to a weekend filled with senseless violence as they say farewell to 2025. Fresh off of its theatrical run, GOOD BOY is currently streaming on SHUDDER and will be getting a physical media release soon! TIRED OF THE COMMERCIALS YET? Writer and director Akela Cooper (M3gan, Malignant) joins Talking Strange host Aaron Sagers to discuss her chilling short "Old Acquaintance," part of David Dastmalchian and horror drag icons The Boulet Brothers' The Boulet Brothers' Holiday of Horrors anthology now streaming on Shudder and AMC+. Set on New Year's Eve, "Old Acquaintance" follows a woman returning home after her father's sudden death, only to discover the demon that haunted him may now be coming for her. Cooper unpacks the story's emotional core, the mythology behind the demon, and why the holidays are the perfect pressure cooker for horror. The conversation also explores Cooper's collaboration with The Boulet Brothers and David Dastmalchian, the challenge of telling a deeply personal, terrifying story in a short format, and how holiday traditions can amplify dread instead of comfort. And don't miss the other interviews for Holiday of Horrors as part of the Talking Strange show, including chats with David Dastmalchian, The Boulet Brothers, and Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House, Hush, The Fall of the House of Usher). _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. Actor and filmmaker Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House, Hush, Midnight Mass) joins Talking Strange host Aaron Sagers to discuss her darkly twisted short "Down the Chimney," part of Executive Producers David Dastmalchian and The Boulet Brothers' The Boulet Brothers' Holiday of Horrors anthology, now streaming on Shudder and AMC+. Siegel dives into turning one of the most familiar holiday tropes — Santa visiting good little boys and girls — and turns it into a hilariously dark Rankin/Bass-esque tale of Seasonal body horror. And how she did it to get revenge on her sister! In their conversation, they chat about the creepy side of the holidays, childhood vulnerability, and the creepy side of Elf on the Shelf. She also talks about writing and directing horror in a compact format, collaborating with The Boulet Brothers and David Dastmalchian, and what she hopes husband Mike Flanagan got her for Christmas. And don't miss the other interviews for Holiday of Horrors as part of the Talking Strange show, including chats with David Dastmalchian, The Boulet Brothers, and Akela Cooper (M3GAN, Malignant). _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. Executive produced by horror icons Dracmorda and Swanthula Boulet alongside David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil), the series delivers festive fear with brutal twists, atmospheric dread, and macabre surprises. The Boulets break down each terrifying tale: From a haunted family home on Christmas Eve to a snowy Yeti nightmare, a demon stalking New Year's Eve, and Santa's truly nightmarish trip down the chimney. Actor, writer, and monster kid David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil, Dust Bunny) joins Talking Strange host Aaron Sagers to dive deep into The Boulet Brothers' Holiday of Horrors, the chilling four-part anthology now streaming on Shudder and AMC+. Dastmalchian discusses his close friendship and creative partnership with The Boulet Brothers, how they collaborated both on-screen and behind the scenes, and why the holidays are his favorite time of year to unleash fear. He also breaks down working with Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House) and Akela Cooper (M3GAN) about their holiday shorts, and delves into his directed story "Yeti or Not" — a snowy nightmare written with Jennifer Polania and Leah Kilpatrick, who also designed the terrifying Yeti creature. From Christmas horror traditions to monster design, collaboration, and finding joy in seasonal darkness, David and Aaton pulls back the curtain on how Holiday of Horrors came together, and why festive fear hits differently. _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. Bundle up, my spookies—this week's This Week in Horror History digs into Christmas horror movies, winter ghost stories, and festive frights from December 15–21. We're hanging the stockings and turning off the lights as we revisit the classics that made the holidays just a little more terrifying. We kick things off with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein (1974), a black-and-white horror-comedy love letter to the Universal Monsters era. It proved that audiences were happy to unwrap creepy laughs during the holiday season, turning a modest budget into a massive hit and cementing itself as a cozy winter comfort watch for monster kids everywhere. From there, we head into the snow-choked terror of Bob Clark's Black Christmas (1974)—the grim, stalker-in-the-attic slasher that helped invent the blueprint for holiday horror slashers. Killer POV shots, obscene phone calls, sorority sisters in danger, and a cozy Christmas setting turned sinister make it a must-watch Christmas horror movie for anyone who likes their tinsel tangled with blood. We then unwrap some Christmas horror gaming with the PS1-style indie nightmare Christmas Massacre, where retro graphics, a whispering Christmas tree, and a deeply disturbed killer turn nostalgic winter vibes into something nasty and unforgettable. If you're into indie horror games, lo-fi visuals, and brutally mean Christmas horror, this one belongs on your December playlist. For fans of analog horror and late-night weirdness, we shine a frosty spotlight on Local 58's Real Sleep—a fake infomercial that slowly mutates into something cosmic, invasive, and deeply wrong. It's perfect for those long, cold nights where the TV glow is the only light in the room. Our Deep-Cut Spotlight settles on Ghost Story (1981), a wintry ghost tale about regret, buried secrets, and a haunting that refuses to stay in the past. Legendary performances and snow-dusted atmosphere make it an ideal December ghost story to curl up with while the wind howls outside and the Christmas lights flicker.Along the way, we celebrate horror icons with birthdays this week, revisit the seismic impact of Wes Craven's Scream (1996) as a late-December slasher staple, and build you a Christmas horror watchlist loaded with slashers, ghost stories, analog nightmares, and cold-weather horror comfort films.Where to watch this week's picks (U.S.):Black Christmas (1974) – Currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, Shudder, AMC+ and more, and also free with ads on platforms like Tubi and The Roku Channel. Ghost Story (1981) – Streaming on Amazon Prime Video (including Prime with ads), with digital rent/buy options on Amazon, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. Christmas Massacre (Game) – Available digitally on Steam, GOG, PlayStation, Xbox, and directly from the Puppet Combo store for PC collectors. Young Frankenstein (1974) – As of this week it's not on major subscription services in the U.S.; your best bet is grabbing a digital copy or Blu-ray from retailers like Amazon and other disc shops. But before bringing her in, the boys review Five Nights at Freddy's 2, Wake Up Dead Man, Die My Love, Zootopia 2 (and its many horror references), and Correia talks about the 90's Showtime Movie series Rebel Highway! We have purposely avoided doing anything involving The Last Drive-In. Why would we want to review a movie when Joe Bob has already done it? There is no way we would be able to top what he had already done. We start our latest show with something directly from Shudder's most popular show.We may be a little biased, but we have always though the horror community is one of the strongest. There is little to no gatekeeping, a willingness to talk, and just a lot of good people. We hate to put labels on anyone who says they are a horror fan. But what if you like films? We have ten statements that will make them mad.Our humble little podcast started seven years ago and during that time there have been a lot of surprises. Some movies have amazed us how good they are. Others have shocked us with how bad they ended up being. We figured that this would be he perfect time of year to talk about them. But the surprises are more about good and bad. We talk about the fall of Jordan Peele and the rise of Tubi. We talk about the movie that made us think we had come across something that had too much nudity and the film that everyone seems to love except us. And we look back painfully at the movie that we are most embarrassed about. Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. Formed in Washington DC and opening up for bands like Fugazi, Jawbox--along with Shudder to Think--were one of the Dischord bands signed to a major label in the early 90s. Going back to all of their records today, it's safe to say Jawbox is one of the more criminally underrated bands of the 90s. I have a very exciting interview this week for you all. I had a really great chat with the director of Influencers, Kurtis David Harder, alongside both Co-Stars, Emily Tennant and Cassandra Naud. We talked about this highly anticipated sequel to the movie Influencer back in 2023. We dive into the characters' lives and what has evolved with this new installment. We discussed the beautiful shooting locations, the action sequences, and the story. The sequel levels up in every way. I had a blast learning more about the big action set piece at the end of the movie as well. This team is absolutely amazing! What they accomplish in this movie is pure magic! This Black Friday, Cutting Deep into Horror takes you back to where modern terror truly began: The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974). Whether you're recovering from turkey dinner or Black Friday chaos, this is the perfect way to lean deeper into seasonal fear.Inside this episodeThe Road Trip to Hell — How a simple drive and a cemetery visit turn into a descent toward madness. The Hitchhiker's Warning — Chaos arrives early, reshaping the tone and danger instantly. The House of Horrors — Bone art, slaughter rooms, and why the décor hits the deepest nerves.Sally Hardesty's Ordeal — A masterclass in survival horror, trauma, and sensory overload.Dinner With the Family — A disturbing, iconic sequence that redefined psychological horror.Production Hell — Sweat, heat, real injuries, and the grueling on-set reality behind the film's authenticity. Why TCM Still Terrifies — Minimalist brutality, stark realism, and cultural impact that still resonates.Thanksgiving & Horror — Why TCM unexpectedly fits the season of big meals and bigger family tension.Where to Watch The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (U.S.):Netflix – subscription

It's Episode 209 of AEW-some Pod, and we somehow survived the 3-hour AEW Dynamite/Collision mutant super-show so you don't have to. Co-hosts Johnny Taylor, Jr. ("Bummin' With the Devil" on Amazon), Diana Prince (Darcy the Mail Girl from The Last Drive-In on Shudder and AMC+), and Gringo Fantastico (Disasterpiece Theater on TromaNOW) cover all the hits and misses from the 3-hour AEW Dynamite/Collision combo show. On Episode 209 we wonder if Mark Briscoe and Samoa Joe can break their losing streaks to win gold at Full Gear, Kyle Fletcher looking amazing in a suit, and Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa being just a little too cringe even by AEW standards. We also get into Hangman sending Joe's goons to the hospital, Mercedes choking out Statlander, Okada wrestling in cruise control while Don Callis ruins everyone's life, and whether AEW should install a “No More Fire, Please” department for Darby. Hit play, rate and review, and tell a friend—or we'll let Don Callis manage your finances. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Step into late November with This Week in Horror History, the horror podcast that digs into the spooky anniversaries hiding between Thanksgiving and Christmas. In this episode, we dive into a full week of genre milestones for November 18–25, from cult slashers and gothic ghost stories to Stephen King adaptations, survival horror gaming, and a haunting cannibal romance. We kick things off at summer camp with Sleepaway Camp (1983), the infamous 1980s slasher movie whose shocking final twist made it a cult legend on VHS and a must-watch for every serious horror fan. Then we ride into the fog with Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow (1999), a stylish gothic horror film packed with headless-horseman mayhem, Hammer Horror vibes, and one of Johnny Depp's most beloved spooky roles. From there, we lock the supermarket doors and let The Mist (2007) roll in. This Stephen King horror movie traps terrified townspeople in a grocery store surrounded by Lovecraftian monsters and religious hysteria, building to one of the bleakest endings in modern horror cinema. We also pick up a controller for Condemned: Criminal Origins (2005), a grim Xbox 360 survival horror game that turned a next-gen console launch into a nightmare of crime scenes, jump scares, and first-person brutality. Our Deep-Cut Spotlight sinks its teeth into Salem's Lot (1979), Tobe Hooper's terrifying Stephen King TV miniseriesthat made an entire generation afraid to look out their bedroom windows. We talk small-town dread, the iconic window-scratch scene, and how this vampire story helped shape everything from Fright Night to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Midnight Mass.Along the way, we roll through horror birthdays (including icons connected to The Silence of the Lambs, The Thing, and indie horror favorites), revisit the legacy of Universal's Frankenstein in a Then & Now segment, and close with a Weekly Recommendation: Luca Guadagnino's Bones and All (2022), a melancholic cannibal road movie that plays like a twisted, emotional Thanksgiving watch. If you love horror history, Stephen King adaptations, Tim Burton gothic horror, 80s slasher movies, Thanksgiving horror, and deep dives into cult classics, this episode is your cozy, creepy guide to late-November genre viewing.Subscribe to This Week in Horror History on the Weekly Spooky network so you never miss a horror anniversary, hidden gem, or nightmare from the vault.Sleepaway Camp (1983)Streaming: Currently streaming on Peacock and available via Prime Video (depending on region/packaging).Physical: Recent Blu-ray restorations from boutique horror labels are in print and easy to hunt down for collectors.Sleepy Hollow (1999)Digital: Available to rent or buy digitally on the usual suspects, including Prime Video and Apple TV.Physical: Long-standing Paramount Blu-ray and DVD releases are widely available. The Mist (2007)Streaming: Streaming on Peacock and Paramount+, often as part of their Stephen King / horror lineups.Physical: Blu-ray editions are easy to find, including releases that feature Frank Darabont's preferred black-and-white cut.Condemned: Criminal Origins (2005 – game)Digital: Recently delisted from major digital storefronts, so it's not a simple click-to-buy anymore.Physical / Legacy: Best found as a physical Xbox 360 disc or as remaining PC keys from reputable sellers that still activate on Steam; expect some tinkering on modern hardware.Salem's Lot (1979 miniseries)Streaming: Shows up on free-with-ads streamers like Tubi and on horror-centric services such as AMC+ and Shudder from time to time, though availability shifts.Physical / Digital: There are solid DVD and Blu-ray editions in circulation, and it's typically available to rent or buy digitally on major VOD platforms when it falls out of flat-rate streaming.Bones and All (2022)Digital: Available digitally on Prime Video.Streaming: Also popping up on cinephile-focused streamers such as The Criterion Channel and MUBI, making it easy to slot into a late-night double feature. This episode of This Week in Horror History is brought to you by Savorista Coffee.
