Highlighting really incredible people and their passions that aim to entertain, inspire, and inform listeners. The conversations will be real, they intend to be funny, and they will most definitely be random. If you like structure, this probably isn’t the podcast for you.
Some people’s dads are shy, some are loud, and some don’t know the meaning of TMI. Mine is for sure the latter, and I wouldn’t trade him for the world. Joining me this week, for part 2 of his podcast, is my very own dad, Rodney Austin Norman. We laugh, we cry, we break down his past and to be honest, it was one of my best interviews to date. I love the raw (but not over the top) emotions my dad brought to this episode. It may be hard to listen to for some, so please proceed with that in mind.

If you ever wondered what it’s like to be pregnant, this episode is for you! If you don’t want to hear about that shit, maybe sit this one out. There are lots of TMI moments, and if you’re my friend, you may look at me differently (who am I kidding? If you’re my friend, you’ve heard this already, let’s say if you’re my acquaintance). Carrying a baby is a magical, and simultaneously challenging experience, and in my case, I’m carrying two, which is unreal. I love being pregnant while also experiencing things I didn’t know happened, so I felt it was my duty to share this with the world, enjoy!
From a small town in Ohio, to a big city in the PNW, this girl thrives on competition and is grateful for second chances. Taran Alvelo knows that she has been blessed with opportunity during her four years at the University of Washington and is thankful for all that this experience has afforded her beyond her four years. As a rookie in the National Pro Fastpitch League, she will build upon the foundation UW gave her to push not only her pro team (the USSSA Pride) to a championship, but her National Team a run for the 2020 Olympics. WHAT. A. WEEKEND. Softball was insane this past week with the top two seeds meeting in the finals for the first time EVER, for the UCLA bruins to win their 12th natty and bring it back to the PAC, for the Dawgs to finish out one hell of a season, and for some really insane stats including the fact that this was the most watched Championship game in the history of our sport. PRETTY DAMN AWESOME. I don’t get too in depth here but just a tip of the cap to some of the top teams in the country!
Not a softball fan? You 100% need to jump on board right now, the Women’s College World Series is WHERE IT’S AT. Check them out on ESPN (for sure be an @uwsoftball fan) plus learn more about softball in general on @7inningspodcast
Some people are wise beyond their years, and Courtney Thompson is no exception. The way she approaches competition and life has a lesson in it no matter what your role. Excited to connect with Courtney to discuss all the things (including appearances by a 4 month old puppy I’m watching for the week, he felt like I wasn’t paying enough attention to him) and I know you’ll love the episode too. It’s a long one, but it’s worth the time. To follow Courtney’s journey, check her out on Instagram @cthomp_3 and make sure to go to her websites: giveitbackfoundation.org competetocreate.net
This episode is truly a rambling of thoughts on friendship, other things that pop into my head, and true confirmation that I need to plan out my episodes in advance
Moms. They’re incredible. They literally grow a human being (or more) inside of them for 9+ months, then raise these humans to become the people they are today. I have a very special bond with my mom and I feel fortunate for that everyday. In fact, sometimes I find myself taking it for granted and have to remind myself, not everyone has the same relationship with their mom, not everyone still has their mom around or their mom lives across the country or world, and I need to cherish this connection for as long as I can. Enjoy getting to know the woman behind the woman who created BIDWB
