The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - gathered Friday morning to gab a bit during this BYE weekend and tie up some loose ends after Washington's 70-10 dismantling of UC Davis. After some scheduling talk and the normal complaints from west coasters about late night starts and Scott's master plan for how conference realignment will all shake out within a decade (he promises this will definitely all happen), Kim gets Chris's and Scott's take on some things that came out of the UC Davis win since he wasn't able to make it due to car troubles. Talk moved to the improvement of the offensive line, including the things that have helped this year's line settle in a lot quicker compared to last season, as well as how Jedd Fisch's high school recruiting philosophy has already started to pay off, especially along the OL. After a quick break Kim asks Scott to talk about John Mills and his recruitment to Washington. Scott happened to be at UW the day Mills was offered a scholarship by the previous staff, and he lays out Mills' recruitment from when he originally committed to Texas, to Washington keeping on him due to his Montlake family ties, to his eventual flip to the Huskies. Kim asks Chris whether or not Washington's first BYE week comes at a good time. Believe it or not, they had differing opinions on this topic. And then Scott gives a recruiting update that eventually wound its way toward the 2027 recruiting class and whether or not he's surprised the Huskies don't have any public commitments for that class so far.

On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Jim Moore, the Go-2-Guy, The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar and Bill Krueger, host of the “Old School Baseball” podcast. The show opens with Puck and Jim discussing the Seahawks loss to the 49ers and Puck and Jim disagree on if the Seahawks blew the game or if the 49ers were the better team. Jim is celebrating because he collected $20 bucks off Puck on his Jalen Milroe bet, which Puck said he would only take a snap this season in the red zone…what a foolish bet! They also touch in on the Cougs being 2-0, the M's road trip and Puck describes a dinner from hell! Michael-Shawn Dugar, The Athletic joins Puck every Monday to talk Seahawks football and the react to the Seahawks week one loss and what led to it vs. San Francisco. They agree that the receiving core is a problem, but Mike says it's been a problem since camp. Puck and Mike try to understand why they activated Jalen Milroe and then don't elect to use him late in the game. Also, Riq Woolen had a rough game and once again his effort level is questioned. Can someone like Woolen ever get better at that?Puck goes back to baseball to catch up with another Monday regular, Bill Krueger, “Old School Baseball” and they chat about Seattle's 3-6 road trip, but it did end on a positive note with winning the last two in dominating fashion. Julio continues to mash the baseball and has again joined elite company as his torrid second half continues. Bill reacts to George Kirby purposely hitting a Rays player and says there is no place in the game for that behavior. Why are the Mariners pitchers struggling so much this season with opposing teams picking up their signs? Bill says it's all about the glove placement and how they are gripping the ball in their glove. Real detailed breakdown from Bill. Plus, why is Harry Ford here and what is there plan for him? Finally, how has Dan Wilson done in his first full year at the helm? Bill says there is a lot to like, but much room for improvement. Puck wraps up with, “Hey, what the Puck!?” Don't panic Seahawks fans after week one…at least not yet. The Washington Huskies decimated UC Davis 70-10, and the guys from Dawgman.com - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - broke down all the positives they saw. And there were a lot of them. To start, the Huskies got off to a hot start, scoring the five times they had the ball in the first half, amassing a 42-10 halftime edge. They were also able to get a pick from Tacario Davis and should have had another one from their other 6-4 corner, Ephesians Prysock. But there were still some sloppy penalties and execution issues that kept the Huskies from shutting down the Aggies completely. Chris and Scott talked about their favorite players of the game, starting with Jonah Coleman and his four first-half touchdowns (five overall!), as well as how rock-solid Demond Williams was with his decision-making all night long. Then they turned to the defense to talk about their difference-makers. They also went through all the true freshmen that have played so far this season. There's 10 in all, including four that made their UW debuts tonight; Chris Lawson, Champ Taulealea, Ramonz Adams, and D'Aryhian Clemons. And they also gave their final thoughts on the game and especially how it plays into how the Huskies will work during their BYE week leading into their Apple Cup game in Pullman in two weeks' time. Interviewees: Justin Bullock, MD, MPH; Cary Payne, MD Interviewer: Lisa Meeks, PhD, MA Description: In Episode 114, Dr. Lisa Meeks talks with Dr. Justin Bullock (nephrology fellow, University of Washington; living with bipolar disorder) and Dr. Cary Payne (Program Director, Nephrology Fellowship, University of Washington) about navigating fellowship with a psychiatric disability—and how trust, humility, and creative flexibility built a training experience defined by healing and growth. Together, they retrace Justin's decision to pursue fellowship after a traumatic residency, his choice to lead with authenticity during the match, and the risks and rewards of disclosure in GME. They unpack how structured accommodations provided protection, why early defensiveness softened into trust, and the profound impact of Cary's disarming leadership approach: “It's not your job to teach us.” Listeners will hear advice for residents and fellows (consider strategic disclosure, seek accommodations as protective, build trusted provider teams) and for program directors (lead with humility, embrace uncertainty, and center accommodations in creativity rather than dogma). At its heart, the episode explores how one program became not just a safe space, but a place of healing—and why that benefits trainees, programs, and patients alike. This episode accompanies the open-access perspective This Armor of Mine: Perspectives of a Bipolar Physician and Program Director (Bullock & Payne, Chest, 2024) This episode is part of the ACGME/DWDI Disability Resource Hub, supported by the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Catalyst Award, it's a powerful reminder that access isn't accidental—it's built intentionally, one relationship at a time. Luke Del Rio is the most interesting coach in college football. And today's conversation at Y-Option, fueled by our founding sponsor, 76® - keeping you on the GO GO GO so you never miss a beat, is one that will inspire, enlighten and may get you on the next flight to Paris.Every quarterback has a story. Few are as layered and compelling as Luke Del Rio's. I've known Luke since he was 16 years old and watching his path as a signal caller, friend and coach has been fascinating.Luke is currently on Jedd Fisch's staff at the University of Washington and his last year in football may one day be a part of a best-selling book. Luke grew up in NFL locker rooms, learning from his father, Jack, a long time NFL head coach. As a player, Luke would spin the ball in Tuscaloosa, Corvallis and complete his playing career as the starting quarterback at Florida. This past summer his journey took an unexpected turn, where he was the offensive coordinator for the Paris Musketeers in the European League of Football. We re-traced that journey on his final night in Paris before he and his family flew back to Seattle to begin the season with the Huskies. We talk about what it means to run your own room for the first time, how the seat feels different when you're the play-caller, and what it was like to share the sideline with his father. We dive into the tension and beauty of that father-son dynamic, the lessons learned from coaching in a foreign land, and the emotional goodbye that brought Luke to tears after their final game.Yet what resonated most was the humanity: the afterglow of nights in Paris spent with family, teammates, and friends–the reminder that football is the vessel, but the people are the payoff.Luke Del Rio is back in the States now, primed for what could be a special season at UW, but his story is proof of what Chris Petersen once told me: your path will never go as you envision it…and that's often the point.Off to State College and to those of you who have sent over notes about the piece on George Raveling, thank you.Much love and stay steady,YogiY-Option: College Football with Yogi Roth is a reader-supported publication. On the season premiere of Inside Olympia, Austin Jenkins interviews Ed Lazowska, the Bill and Melinda Gates Chair Emeritus in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington Paul G. Allen School, about his five-decade career and the rapid rise of artificial intelligence. Lazowska reflects on Washington's ascent as a global software hub, driven by Microsoft, Amazon, and close ties between UW and industry. He contrasts the internet's arrival in the 1990s with AI's surprising breakthroughs, noting the unprecedented pace of change. Emphasizing optimism, he urges using AI to augment human capabilities. For education, Lazowska stresses three tiers of preparation: innovators, advanced users, and broad AI fluency for all students, coupled with informed skepticism to navigate an AI-driven world.
Uw vrede omringt me, Vader. Laat mij Uw vrede met me meedragen.
