Seven women have filed a civil lawsuit in New York accusing celebrity hairstylist Frédéric Fekkai and employee Patrick Coombs of helping groom them for Jeffrey Epstein, including by altering their appearance to suit Epstein's preferences. According to the complaint, Epstein allegedly sent young women and girls to Fekkai's Manhattan salon, where their hair was bleached blond and they were styled to look “as young as possible,” with the plaintiffs describing the salon as a central part of the grooming process. Five of the seven women are proceeding anonymously, while the named plaintiffs include former model Kersti Ferguson and former Playboy Playmate Audra Christiansen. The lawsuit was filed under New York's Gender-Motivated Violence Act and alleges that Fekkai and his salon were part of a broader network that helped manipulate and prepare women for Epstein's abuse. Those allegations have not been proven in court, and Fekkai has denied wrongdoing in connection with separate Epstein-related accusations.The lawsuit also places Fekkai's business relationship with Epstein under scrutiny, alleging that Epstein helped boost Fekkai's commercial success while Fekkai, in turn, provided services that benefited Epstein's operation. The plaintiffs claim Epstein's connections helped Fekkai's products gain access to major retailers, including Victoria's Secret, which was then controlled by Leslie Wexner, and they argue that Fekkai's salon became intertwined with Epstein's broader social and trafficking network. The case comes amid renewed congressional attention to Fekkai after Sarah Kellen reportedly accused him during a closed-door House interview of sexually assaulting her years earlier, an allegation Fekkai has denied. Rep. Thomas Massie has also publicly named Fekkai among people he believes should face further investigation. Here's a trivia question for you. What is the largest edible fruit tree native to North America? It's not the persimmon. Or the wild apple. And it's not the cherry tree. It's a little-known, misunderstood tree that's fruit was consumed by Native Americans, European settlers and colonists for hundreds of years before all-but-disappearing from American consciousness. It's the pawpaw tree which produces the pawpaw fruit. The greenish-yellow, kidney-shaped fruits ripen in late summer to early fall. The fruit has a creamy, custard-like texture and a flavor reminiscent of banana, mango and vanilla. It's been called the “poor-man's banana” and the “Appalachian banana.”After generations in the dark, the pawpaw has been making a resurgence in recent years. Breweries have begun making beer out of the fruit. You can find pawpaws used in ice cream. And there's even a festival hosted by Horn Farm Center in York County that celebrates the tree and fruit every year in September.But, what's the reason for this revival? Is it because people are learning more about native plants? Is it that the tree has increased its growing range? Today's Headlines: And we're back to actual warring again. The US and Iran are shooting at each other again for the first time in a month — US strikes on Iranian rocket launchers, Iran hitting US bases in Jordan and the UAE — and when reporters asked Trump if he'd rule out nukes, he said yes and no in the same breath and called it a stupid question, which is on brand. Trump also personally called Apple to ask them to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America on Maps, and is apparently "confident" it'll happen soon, Apple however did not comment on the matter. In other disturbing news, the Pentagon has been secretly hiring conservative veteran influencers in civilian roles to defend Hegseth online and go after his critics, funded possibly by taxpayers — turns out those are the replacements for the press outlets Hegseth kicked out of the Pentagon — and ICE is dropping $2 million on robot dogs with 360-degree cameras and extendable arms, to go with the electric shock gloves, because why not. On the food and environment beat, a carcinogenic forever chemical just got approved for crops including apples, oranges, corn, and almonds, three groups immediately sued, 10,000 cases of tofu are being recalled from 29 states for possible ink contamination, and the Trump administration wants to hand over part of Yosemite National Park to a private equity firm that wants to build upscale cabins and commercial buildings — in exchange for equivalent land elsewhere, make it make sense. Meanwhile, protesters showed up at Peter Thiel's Argentina mansion, George Santos got Kalshi's first ever lifetime ban for betting on his own State of the Union attendance and responded by threatening them on Twitter, and John Galliano quietly dropped out of his 2027 Met Gala retrospective, which was probably the right call.
