On Instagram @ChristinaAllDay, people are always asking me what I’m reading and what books I recommend. So, I started sharing book reviews on my blog, ChristinaAllDay.com. Then, I figured - why not share them on my YouTube channel and start a podcast full of the favorite books I’m reading and what I think about them. Here, you can catch up on my latest reads - mostly realistic fiction with romance, mystery, and suspense. Every once in a while, I’ll throw a non-fiction book into the mix, but here - you will get it all WITHOUT spoilers. For more, make sure you find me on social media @ChristinaAllDay and on YouTube.
Fast Girl is a book pick from a book club I am in. I wasn't familiar with Suzy Favor Hamilton before reading this book, but her story did sound familiar from an episode I caught on Oprah... and woah - this is one of the wildest stories I've ever read.
Never Have I Ever is a book I read based on the description... and of course, the cover too.It had lots of twists and turns with a great ending.
The Family Upstairs is a book I read because I enjoyed Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. Her name pops up a lot, so I read this one. What can I say? The title sold me.Unlike Then She Was Gone, the story moved slowly and had me hoping it would end sooner rather than later.
The End of Her is a book I read because it was suggested in a local book club I’m in.I love a mystery and thriller… and this is one of those books that keeps you guessing till the end. There are lots of great characters that keep you guessing who’s good and who’s bad? Who’s telling the truth and who’s lying? For more, click here: https://www.christinaallday.com/the-end-of-her-by-shari-lapena-book-summary-and-review/
The Midnight Library is a book I was excited to read because lots of people were raving about it for weeks after it was released. While the concept is very unique, I wasn't as entertained as I thought I would be.
The Coast to Coast Murders is a James Patterson thriller unlike the others. This book is longer than his others and has twists and turns you never see coming. It really puts the psychological in psychological thriller.
Born a Crime was a really funny book to listen to.I suggest listening to it because Trevor Noah is such a great storyteller and you won't have the effect if you read it.
20th Victim by James Patterson was a lot like the other 19 Women’s Murder Club books. You have some stories that overlap and some that stand on their own.Being 20 books in, they do seem a little expected and predictable, but they are still excellent.I can’t wait to read the 21st!
Buy Yourself the F*cking Lilies was a book that has been on my to be read list for a few months, but to be honest, I was over self-help books. They all seemed the same. When a friend in a local book club chose this book, I decided to listen to it while I walked.I enjoyed this book because it didn't scream self-help.For more, click here: https://www.christinaallday.com/buy-yourself-the-fcking-lilies-by-tara-schuster-book-summary-and-review/
Christmas Shopaholic was a holiday book I wanted to start reading before Christmas.I needed something fun and light for the holidays. This was a perfect book. It made me want to read all the other fun Shopaholic books written by the same author. This one is the ninth in Sophie Kinsella’s series, but the first for me. Although, I did love the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic.
The Meaning of Mariah Carey is a book that I listened to instead of reading. It's read by her and she does a lot of impromptu singing throughout it.Her voice isn't what it used to be, but she also played some old tracks that were good to hear... and have me on iTunes buying some of the old hits!
It Started with Christmas is a book that I started in the middle of December to get in the spirit even more.I honestly didn't expect it to be such a page-turner, but it was.I can't wait to read more by Jenny Hale - not only because this one was great, but because she is one of the few authors who are actually social on social media with her readers. (I love that!)For more, click here: https://www.christinaallday.com/it-started-with-christmas-by-jenny-hale-book-summary-and-review/
The Escape Room is my second #BuddyRead with my friend Savannah Carlisle. We liked The Night Swim so much that we wanted to read Megan Goldin's other book.Like the other, this one was a suspenseful page-turner until the very end.
The Good Sister is a book that I was so excited to read because the author, Sally Hepworth, sent me an advanced copy. She saw this post on Instagram and sent me an unofficial copy all the way from Australia.Just like her other books, this one does not disappoint. In fact, I like it more than her others. For more on this book review of The Good Sister, click here: https://www.christinaallday.com/the-good-sister-by-sally-hepworth-book-summary-and-review/
I ended 2020 with more than 60 books read.On Instagram, on my blog, and on my podcast, I share what I’m reading.People always ask me how I can read so much.At the end of the day, it’s all about time management.I’m pretty good at managing my time, but I will also add that my husband stays at home and takes care of the kids so that takes some off my plate. If you don’t have a stay at home husband, you can still read a lot of books! He only started staying home in August of 2020 and by then I was finishing one book a week, so #noexcuses.I have a lot more I want to get to, and I’m sure you do too, so I’m sharing how I’m able to read so many books. Some resources mentioned in this episode:GoodReadsAudible#Bookstagram
The Woman in Cabin 10 is a book by an author I've heard of and has been recommended to me many times because I like a good psychological thriller. This was a good first one by Ruth Ware. The mystery keeps unfolding as you keep reading, and like most thrillers, 3/4 of the way through you can't wait to finish the book to see how it all ends.
The Return is a book I had to buy and read for the simple fact that I read everything by Nicholas Sparks.Like his others, this one did not disappoint. It also had some mystery elements that kept me turning the pages. For more on this review, click here: https://www.christinaallday.com/the-return-by-nicholas-sparks-book-summary-and-review/
A Palm Beach Wife was not on my long list of books to read, but I couldn’t resist the cover and the Palm Beach connection. (Yes, I judge a book by its cover.)When I walked into Classic Bookshop in Palm Beach after a facial and asked the man behind the counter, Dan, for some recommendations, he suggested A Palm Beach Scandal. It’s the second in a series, so naturally, I had to read the first book, so I bought it! It’s a great story that left me wanting to know how things transpired for the characters. At times, I hoped for a little more excitement and action, but this book had me traveling to the island to spend a day with my kids because of all the Palm Beach descriptions.Use my affiliate link to buy A Palm Beach Wife here: https://amzn.to/3mYc5oMFor more, visit: https://www.christinaallday.com/a-palm-beach-wife-book-summary-and-review/
