Five minute comic book reviews, one a day, Monday to Friday. New releases, recorded in the comic book store!
Yes, this is part of a decade's old property, but trust me, its written well enough that it will all make sense
Not exactly exciting for a Kung-fu story, but damn, it looks good.
Black and white, but done well, an excellent story with a twist in the tail, but not much time to build characters. Still, with a title like this...
They got the gang together, solved a mystery, and figured out what they're doing! Just a shame they didn't look great while doing so...
A nice fat issue one, with loads of political stuff, violence, superstition, and sex! and it looks great too!
A lovely, multilayered look at the way we paint our stories, and how we see ourselves as heroes in our own lives. And also, a bunch of Nazis get murdered.
Brutal action, interesting concept, but I'm not. sure if this one might be a bit problematic.
Man, that was a lot of fun! Great art, exciting story, and wonderful dialogue! Might even make me want to read more Power Rangers stories...
Content warning: non consensual sex. One for the grown ups, and it's not a read without problems, but if you're a fan of the Cthulhu Mythos, this blend with Sleepy Hollow really works!
Beautiful looking, and a ripping yarn in its own way, but really follows a well beaten path.
this looks good, but drops you in at the deep end with very little help in making sense of things
Superb American gothic, with a deep south feel!
The world needs saving? Hang on, I'll grab me nan...
Bombastic and over the top, but still has room to grow. might not be as bad as I expected...
You don't need to have read the original, but if you're not already a horror fan, this might not grab you.
a bit of twist in this one, but it works!
A lack of violence, but no less sinister!
brutal, bloody, and everything you'd want from a Conan story!
Sci-fi, anarchy, gorgeous art, and a supberly representative bunch of character, this could be amazing!
This comic book was one that really stoked my interest when I was looking for things to read as a younger man, and revisiting it was a joy!
Not the movie. Or the TV show, or the spin off comics, or even the RPG!
This started as I expected, and didn't do much to shock me, but I can't help but feel that build up will pay out well next issue!
Something great, something beautiful, something twisted and surreal, and also human and moving...
the store is closed, but I'm still reading comic books!
very strong characters, and we'll realised historical settings, with some great sci-fi action thrown in too!
Big group action, but maybe too many people for a coherent narrative...
I'm still here, still reviewing comic books, and this one is perfect for the global mood. Grim as all hell, with a whole bunch of dark foreboding,
Very polite assassins, and a lesson on the evils of Empire!
a lot going on in this one, but trying to keep up is a hell of a treat!
Mixing horror and illness isn't unheard of, but if you can do it this well, then all power to you!
shiny artwork, a story filled with wonder and heart, but it never quite hit my sweet spot!
a superbly cutting satire, with more depth than you'd expect...
Beautiful, well written, a great premise, and already it has me wanting more!
Another Western themed success from #AftershockComics!
A new Tom King. Anyone gonna be surprised when I say I love it?
Mutated manufactured virus, a host of survivors, a world on the brink. The art is amazing too...
A one shot that deserves more, just keep the creative team!
Teenagers with psychic powers, what could possibly go wrong...
Been a good few years since he had his own series, and if you're a fan who's been wai, I don't think you'll be disappointed!
Another wild west comic book, and as much as I enjoyed it, it might justiss out on making it to my pull list.
Politics and ultraviolence! An alternate reality, but maybe no by much...
Great bits of build up, effortlessly amazing art, and some of the best dialogue the #JoeHill has ever written!
High school drama, day in the life of story telling, with psychic alien for added intrigue...
Long and floundering, but still should be read for a few moments that are great.
