On today's episode of The Therapy Crouch, Abbey and Peter are back for another Ask Me Anything from Portugal and there is absolutely no shortage of chaos! The pair kick things off by diving into the realities of being reunited after time apart, with Abbey admitting Peter has completely ruined the routine she'd finally managed to get in place while solo parenting. There's also a fresh long-distance confession from producer Gaz, who reveals he took his girlfriend's pants to LA for “comfort” only for them to be neatly folded by the housekeeper and left on full display in his room…Elsewhere, Abbey and Peter discuss one listener's boyfriend who insists on calling a Leeds-to-Manchester relationship “long distance”, whether ugly animals are actually the cutest pets of all, and why Abbey can't stop rescuing tiny kittens in Portugal. There's also a truly bizarre internet confession involving a sex act, a shout of “Shabba!” and an Alexa request for Mr Bombastic that completely derails the pod.Plus, Abbey opens up about her Scouse identity, whether she's become “too posh” for Liverpool, and the strange experience of sounding too Scouse in London but not Scouse enough back home!If you want to submit an Agony Ab to the podcast - hit the link belowhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/1rAKDST4HU_8al_aWpOlys3TRJrWvDV-84piVdlOOjU4/edit00:00 Introduction02:20 G's Long Distance Comfort Knickers04:22 Abbey's New Coconut Coffee Obsession07:22 The Boyfriend Who Calls Leeds to Manchester ‘Long Distance'09:28 Ugly Pets, Feral Cats and A Farm Podcast Invitation12:17 Abbey's Portugal Animal Rescue Update15:17 The Shabba Bedroom Confession18:04 Laughing With A Straight Face19:01 Abbey on Being Scouse in London vs Liverpool22:20 Abbey Plans G's MakeoverTo contact us:Email: thetherapycrouch@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetherapycrouchpodcast/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thetherapycrouchWebsite: https://thetherapycrouch.com/For more from Peterhttps://twitter.com/petercrouchFor more from Abbeyhttps://www.instagram.com/abbeyclancyOur clips channelhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZntcv96YhN8IvMAKsz4Dbg Hosted on Acast. Ghislaine Maxwell repeatedly attempted to frame her lifestyle as requiring extraordinary security, at one point explicitly comparing her situation to that of Princess Diana. In court filings and public statements, Maxwell suggested that the level of scrutiny, media attention, and alleged threats she faced justified special treatment—arguing that, like Diana, she was a high-profile target whose safety concerns were exceptional rather than routine. The comparison was widely criticized as self-serving and tone-deaf. Princess Diana was a globally recognized royal subjected to relentless press intrusion and documented security failures that ended in her death, while Maxwell's notoriety stemmed directly from her role in facilitating Jeffrey Epstein's crimes. Courts and critics viewed Maxwell's analogy as an attempt to elevate her status and minimize accountability, rather than a credible comparison grounded in reality or risk.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.
Film Fest Tickets: https://buytickets.at/thedopeyfoundation/2216905 PATREON - www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast On this Thursday Greatest Hits episode, we replayed Ryan Leone's first appearance on Dopey — one of the wildest, most bombastic interviews we've ever done. Ryan was a ridiculously talented, handsome, funny writer who lived one of the most extreme addict lives imaginable: early Ritalin addiction, wilderness programs, stabbing a skinhead, running with cartels, moving kilos of Molly and heroin, multiple federal prisons, writing his cult-classic novel Wasting Talent while locked up, getting close with Johnny Depp, and battling brutal relapses after periods of success. We also had a wild voicemail from Dade about a naked, coke-fueled brawl that ended with her putting her feet through multiple walls, plus listener comments and updates. Ryan passed away in 2022 from fentanyl, which makes this replay especially heavy and important. His story is pure Dopey — chaotic, violent, hilarious, tragic, and full of hard-earned wisdom. Rest in Peace Ryan Leone! We Love You! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.

Then, the boys get into previews for the midweek games, with Barcelona taking on Alaves (42:56), and Real Madrid hosting Oviedo (47:29).

Bombastic and intimate, sarcastic but vulnerable; Montreal's Fake Friends lives on the edge of duality. Fuelled by the manic charisma of frontman Matthew Savage, the six-piece post-punk outfit is an engine that runs on making tunes and ripping gigs with a sincere bravado that is downright infectious to witness. The many lives of the band are hard to track; starting out as a reason to hang out throughout 2020, the band has since rotated through enough members to roster an NHL team. Through it all, the band's founding fathers Matthew Savage (vocals/cult leader) and Luca Santilli (guitar/rock god) – who history will remember as roommates – have retained the same ethos of making danceable rock with dedicated unseriousness alongside good friends. Now rolling out a lineup with Michael Kamps (bass/aura farmer), Felix Crawford-Legault (guitar/golden clown composer), Bradley Cooper-Graham (keys/disney adult) and Michael Tomizzi (drums/gambling savant), Fake Friends are as wild and productive as they've ever been. “A lot of us have known each other for many years,” explains Matt. “It just sort of came together organically as different people moved out of the band, and I just replaced them with all the people I've always played music with. For whatever reason, this time, it's cookin'.” Photo Credit: Nick Pegg The Fake Friends OnlineINSTAGRAM | SPOTIFY | BANDCAMP | WEBSITE | YOUTUBE Checkout my YouTube Channel with long form interviews from the Subversives | the History of Lowest of the Low. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9d1VSeOHYuxFWKuRdmn9j8UTW6AHwS_fAlso my Weekly Tour Vlog is up an live on the YouTubeshttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9d1VSeOHYuwphwhc4zd0VgY66f1OUQZp Pledge monthly with Patreon https://www.patreon.com/apologueShop Apologue products at http://apologue.ca/shopCheck out new Four Square Here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/foursquare/brighton-beach-ephttps://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/foursquare/seven-oh-sevenhttps://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/foursquare/industry-at-home–21st-anniversary-remix-remasteredhttps://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/foursquare/when-weeks-were-weekends

2025 is "The Year of the 2-Player Game" -- at least according to our guest, professional comedian and board game content creator Grant Lyon of Grant's Game Recs. There have been so many good ones that came out over the past yeart that it's hard to refute that statement. So hard that, rather than refute, we'll just create a two-part podcast special covering all the great 2P games we've been playing. This is part one! They were a dynasty unlike any other. The Oakland A's in 1974 were looking for a 3-peat and the only two things in their way were themselves... and their owner, Charlie Finley. They fought, they battled, and they scrapped amongst themselves mostly before they beat the Dodgers in 5 games to win their 3rd straight World Series and nobody chronicled that team better than author Jason Turbow who wrote the book "Dynastic, Bombastic, Fantastic: Reggie, Rollie, Catfish, and Charlie Finley's Swingin' A's. Catfish Hunter is on the cover of the October 7th, 1974 issue of Sports Illustrated after winning 25 games in the regular season for the A's, but that was about the only thing that was regular about that season in Oakland. After winning it all in 1972 & '73 Manager Dick Williams left the team and was replaced by Alvin Dark. And while chaos was always a part of this team, it exploded in '74. Fights were everywhere. Outfielders Reggie Jackson and Billy North got into it. And on the eve of the Fall Classic, so did Rollie Fingers and John 'Blue Moon Odom'. The team didn't like each other, and they couldn't stand their owner. But they loved winning and that's what they did best. Turbow goes behind the curtain and tells some of the stories from that crazy time by the Bay. How Jim Hunter came to be known as Catfish, while Vida Blue refused to be called anything other than his God-given name. How Reggie and Joe Rudi were friends to the end and how the enigmatic Finley was his own worst enemy, but still belongs in Cooperstown alongside some of the players he helped get there. The author of many books, including singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins' memoir "Still Alright", Turbow talks with the guys in the green and gold who fought and bickered with each other but stopped long enough to win 3 straight World Series 50 years ago. If you knit, spin, sew, weave, or follow any crafty pursuit, you will not be surprised that many of our most common metaphors come from textiles. They are interwoven in our vocabulary, and whether you like to spin a yarn from words or fibers, you will recognize many of them. But then there are the words whose textile roots are less obvious: Rocket. Bombastic. And we've forgotten the regional roots of some kinds of fabric, where the skill and creativity refined in a particular place produced an exceptional kind of cloth. You might know what fiber comes from Kashmir, but can you identify the sources of muslin, gauze, damask, or calico? You might know that the pejorative term “shoddy” comes from the fabric trade, but can you identify the roots of tawdry, sleazy, and chintzy? In this episode, Jess Zafarris and I trace the threads of textiles in our vocabulary. Jess is co-host of Words Unravelled (one of my favorite podcasts) and author of several books, most recently Words from Hell: Unearthing the Darkest Secrets of English Etymology (https://bookshop.org/p/books/words-from-hell-unearthing-the-darkest-secrets-of-english-etymology-jess-zafarris/19652293). The influential British shredder talks about how he formed his playing style and demonstrates how to rip one of his most iconic leads. To hear Phil Collen tell it, he joined Def Leppard almost by accident. He had loaned the band one of his amps, and when they asked him to play some leads on their upcoming record Pyromania, Collen thought he was just doing his friends a solid. The rest is history. He and Shifty talk through Collen's formative years on guitar, where he soaked up the scorching playing of classic guitar heroes: Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Mick Ronson, Michael Schenker, and John Petrucci all played a hand in Collen's high-flying fretwork. How did Collen fit into the '80s arms race of speedy guitar playing? His participation might have had something to do with Thin Lizzy's Gary Moore. Collen's solo on “Photograph” is a perfect example of the sort of “ear candy” that producer Mutt Lange encouraged the band to chase in the studio—and yes, he did record individual notes to build a single guitar chord on Pyromania. But there weren't many tricks to Collen's sound on the solo. His Ibanez Destroyer and a 50-watt Marshall were all he needed to get the job done for the slick, Johnny Thunders-inspired solo. Tune in to see how he worked that two-piece setup to record one of the most influential guitar solos of the '80s. Click below to subscribe to the podcast!
