L'Absolute à ne pas rater ? ComicsDiscovery S10E12 : Absolute Martian Manhunter

The History of the Marvel Universe. This week on Comics and Chronic we discuss Dark Horse's Helen of Wyndhorn by Tom King & art by Bilquis Evely & colors by Matheus Lopes. “Following the tragic death of her late father C.K. Cole, the esteemed pulp writer and creator of the popular warrior character Othan, Helen Cole is called back to her Grandfather's enormous and Illustrious estate, Wyndhorn House. Scarred by Cole's untimely passing and lost in a new, strange world, Helen wreaks drunken havoc upon her arrival. However, her chaotic ways begin to soften as she discovers a lifetime of secrets hiding within the myriad rooms and hallways of the expansive manor. For outside its walls, within the woods, dwell the legendary adventures that once were locked away within her father's stories.” But first, Cody gets into his onesie to prepare for the cold.  Jake wants to see people struggle.  Are we planning to cover Batman No Man's Land for Bat-March 2026.  Little Women is a great comfort movie. Was the new Wicked a major step down? Cody confuses his Asian actresses; Jake doesn't fair much better.  Does the story being told from a character's POV who wasn't involved in the adventures take away from it? How does this compare to Supergirl: Woman of Tomrorow? Who would we cast in a live-action version of this comic? Does this book show how fairy tales come to be passed on from word of mouth?  Also RIP to Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. Are Comics and Chronic going to start their own Black Label episodes?  Do we want to see a sequel to this book?  Is the art a perfect 6 but the story lacks?  Listen now to find out!Check out the Kickstarter pre-launch page for Superguy issue #2 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mrtonynacho/superguy-2-my-date-with-the-presidents-daughter?ref=creator_tabNew episodes every THURSDAYFollow us on social media! As part of 12 Days of The Comic Source, this Fireside Chat features Jace welcoming returning guest Tom King for a wide-ranging holiday conversation that reflects on a year of major transitions while remaining grounded in the creative heart of comics. King discusses the shifting balance between his Hollywood work and comics, including his involvement with the upcoming Supergirl film and the enduring impact of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, before diving deep into the themes, structure, and artistic collaboration behind Helen of Wyndhorn, praising Bilquis Evely's Eisner- and Ringo-winning work and explaining how the book was conceived as a companion piece to Supergirl. The discussion also covers the horror-romance mechanics of Love Everlasting, its planned second half, and its thematic exploration of agency and choice, alongside reflections on Human Target, its noir sensibilities, and the newly released hardcover edition. King then turns to his current Wonder Woman run, unpacking the philosophy behind Diana's uncompromising approach, the creation of the Matriarch, and the scope of the upcoming "Wonder War," before closing with a more personal holiday note as he shares the atmosphere of the King household during Christmas—presents piling up around his workspace, the joy of seeing his children connect with lighter, more playful stories like Trinity, and his deep affection for the warmth, family traditions, and reflective nature of the season—including an ongoing family tradition in which something seems to go spectacularly wrong each year, recounting this year's debacle as a memorable incident involving a broken Christmas tree adds both humor and warmth--reinforcing the celebratory spirit that defines these Fireside Chats

2025 has been the Year of Superman, and Missing Frames has been celebrating James Gunn's new film by sitting down with some of the writers, artists, and actors who help make the Man of Steel so special. Past conversations have included comic legends Dan Jurgens, Mark Waid, Tom King, and Phillip Kennedy Johnson, reflections on Richard Donner's iconic film with Lauren Shuler Donner, and even a chat with Ma Kent herself, Neva Howell.Today's guest is another incredible talent: Jonah Lees, who appears in Superman as Dean Farr, one of Lex Luthor's LuthorCorp cronies, alongside his real-life twin brother, Christian. But Jonah's career extends far beyond Metropolis. A highlight of the conversation is his work with Richard Linklater and Ethan Hawke on Blue Moon, as well as his recent portrayal of John Lennon in the Brian Epstein biopic Midas Man. An actor, songwriter, musician, and director, Jonah is a multifaceted creative whose range is as impressive as it is exciting. What begins as a Superman celebration quickly becomes a love letter to many shared passions: Superman, Richard Linklater, and The Beatles.

This trailer gives us massive tone, lore, and character clues, so we deep-dive into every frame while reacting to the emotional beats, the stunning cinematography, the fight choreography, alien worlds, and that needle-drop moment set to “Call Me” by Blondie. DC JUST DROPPED THE NEW SUPERGIRL TRAILER! James Gunn's DCU is officially expanding into the cosmic frontier with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and today Greg Alba & Coy Jandreau break down everything we saw — from Kara Zor-El's powerful new characterization to the film's striking sci-fi aesthetic inspired by Tom King's critically acclaimed comic run. We explore how this Supergirl differs from Superman, why her harsher upbringing makes her one of the DCU's most compelling new heroes, and how the trailer sets the tone for a darker, more emotionally charged journey. What planets are we seeing? Who is the mysterious villain teased? And how will Supergirl connect to the larger DCU, including Superman, Swamp Thing, The Authority, and the upcoming Lanterns series? PLUS — we speculate on casting details, story influences, potential cameos, and what James Gunn and director Craig Gillespie are setting up for the future of the DC Universe. Is Supergirl poised to become one of the breakout characters of the new DCU era? If you enjoy these trailer breakdowns and theory dives, hit like & jump into the chat! MOVIE Morning

The first teaser trailer for DC Studios' Supergirl has now dropped online. Starting Milly Alcock, Supergirl marks the sophomore effort in James Gunn & Peter Safran's new DCU following Superman's critical and commercial success. After years and years of anticipation and defending James Gunn's DCU years before it even began, it was so satisfying to see people fall in love with Superman again back in July and to see people genuinely excited about DC on the big screen again. These characters and the universe as a whole has mean the world to me ever since I was a kid, and to see them finally getting adapted onto the big screen in (mostly) the way I'd always hoped is so damn exciting. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is one of my favorite DC comics of all-time, so to say I was excited when Gunn announced the story being adapted to a movie would be an understatement. I've long BEGGED for more comic book movies to do more straightforward adaptations of comic book stories. At the end of the day, you're never going to do better than the best work from the people who understand these characters best: the comic book writers who grew up being nerds like us about these universes. Tom King is also one of my favorite working comic book writers so to just see a spotlight put on one of his stories like this is just great. My excitement for the film multiplied when the crew, as well as director Craig Gillespie, came on board for the film. Well, the teaser trailer is finally here. Is this everything I hoped for? On this Geek Freaks Headlines episode, we break down fresh Supergirl movie details shared by David Krumholtz, who is playing Zor-El. The update points to a faithful take on Tom King's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, with Lobo in the mix and a promise to clarify the House of El twist established in the recent Superman film. We talk through why that context matters, how Kara's tragic survival story sets her apart from Clark, and why Woman of Tomorrow is the book to read before the movie drops. 00:00 Supergirl update and David Krumholtz as Zor-El00:16 Sticking close to Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow and the addition of Lobo00:33 Clarifying the House of El twist from Superman00:52 Why Kara's tragedy deepens the character01:11 Reading recommendation and Guardians-style space adventure vibes01:20 Tease for continued discussion on the main Geek Freaks showThe Supergirl movie aims to closely follow Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, signaling a character-driven, cosmic road-adventure tone. Lobo is involved, which hints at colorful worlds and big action while keeping the core story centered on Kara. The film is expected to clarify the House of El twist introduced in the new Superman movie, addressing a major lore question for fans. Kara's survivor's burden and isolation set her apart from Clark and could drive a more poignant emotional arc. Now is a great time to read Woman of Tomorrow to catch the themes, tone, and stakes the movie appears to embrace. “We got some new details about the upcoming Supergirl movie.” “They said the movie will be sticking as close as possible to Woman of Tomorrow.” “They're going to be clarifying the House of El situation that we saw in Superman.” “Please check out that book, A Woman of Tomorrow.
