This week on the Major Issues Podcast, the hosts break down Superman/Spider-Man #1, the latest crossover bringing two icons back together in a way that feels both classic and modern. Written by Brad Meltzer with art by Pepe Larraz, the main story gets a full dissection as the hosts explore how this team captures the ideals, tone, and dynamic between Superman and Spider-Man while delivering a crossover that feels worthy of both legacies. The episode also digs into the issue's backup stories, spotlighting contributions from Tom King and Mitch Gerads, as well as Rainbow Rowell and Humberto Ramos. Each creative team brings a distinct tone and perspective, from introspective character work to more energetic, classic superhero storytelling, expanding the scope of the crossover beyond the main event. It is a layered look at a crossover that is not just about two legends meeting again, but about how multiple creative voices interpret that moment in different ways. This week on Major Issues, the guys dive into the massive 2026 crossover event Superman / Spider-Man #1. Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez lead the charge with a story that finally pits the Man of Steel and the Web-Slayer against a Brainiac and Doc Ock alliance. The crew weighs in on whether the chemistry between Clark and Peter lives up to the hype and if Waid's love for comic history makes this a modern classic or just a heavy dose of nostalgia. The episode also breaks down the dense lineup of backup stories and the high-profile teams behind them. They shout out the Lois and MJ spotlight by Tom King and Jim Lee, the chaotic Jimmy Olsen short by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber, and Christopher Priest's meta-story with Daniel Sampere. With additional contributions from creators like Sean Murphy, Jeff Lemire, Greg Rucka, and Gail Simone, the hosts debate if this oversized special justifies its price tag or if it's just a flashy celebration of the Big Two playing nice again. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesSuper TrailerWarner Bros. released the first full trailer for Supergirl, giving us our best look at Milly Alcock's hard-partying Kara Zor-El as she embarks on an interstellar revenge mission to save her poisoned dog Krypto after villainous Krem leaves him only three days to live. The June 26 release directed by Craig Gillespie adapts Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow comic, featuring Jason Momoa's Lobo as an unlikely ally and Eve Ridley as young Ruthye Marye Knoll, whose parents were murdered by Krem. With James Gunn's punk rock aesthetic and emotional animal stakes reminiscent of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 all over, did this trailer deliver the goods in terms of hyping us up, up and away?Trailer Who LivedHBO unveiled the first trailer for its Harry Potter series last Wednesday, revealing an earlier-than-expected Christmas Day 2026 premiere for the eight-episode first season officially titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod lead the ambitious seven-season adaptation with each season dedicated to one book, reportedly costing around $100 million per episode, making it potentially the most expensive television production of all time. With the trailer becoming the most-viewed in HBO Max history at 277 million views in 48 hours, can this decade-long reboot justify its lofty budget and overcome the controversy surrounding the franchise's creator?Galactically Good Box OfficeRyan Gosling's Project Hail Mary crossed $300M globally to become the highest-grossing film of 2026 so far, but its reign might be short-lived as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is projected to dominate Easter weekend with $175M-$180M domestically over five days and $350M globally. Tracking is running slightly ahead of 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which opened to $204.6M domestically and $377M worldwide before finishing with $1.36B. The $110M sequel reunites Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and Jack Black while adding Donald Glover as Yoshi and Glen Powell as Star Fox in a recently announced surprise crossover cameo. With first reviews seeming to echo the first film's middling critical reception, will its box office performance be as out of this world as expected?Lightning RoundThis morning Amazon MGM released the official trailer for Masters of the Universe, slated for theaters June 5. Stephen Colbert revealed he's co-writing The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past with his son Peter McGee and franchise veteran Philippa Boyens, adapting six early chapters from The Fellowship of the Ring that were omitted from Peter Jackson's 2001 filmHimesh Patel has been cast in writer-director Ryan Coogler‘s revival of the X-Files and will star opposite the previously cast Danielle Deadwyler. Ryan Gosling is set to star in Universal Pictures' untitled event film directed by The Daniels, the Oscar-winning duo behind Everything Everywhere All at Once. At this time, all major plot details are being kept under wraps. Sonya Walger has been cast as Freya in Prime Video‘s God of War series. Filmmaker Tim Miller has tapped actor Stefan Kapicic to join the cast of his upcoming sci-fi movie starring Keanu Reeves. This reteams Miller who directed Deadpool and Kapicic who played Colossus. Filming has been halted on Amazon MGM Studios' Tomb Raider series due to an injury suffered by series star Sophie Turner. Filming is expected to resume in about two weeks. A24 has released the official trailer for The Backrooms, an upcoming sci-fi horror film starring Renate Reinsve and Chiwetel Ejiofor, marking first-time feature director Kane Parsons' expansion of his viral YouTube found-footage universe. The screenplay, written by Will Soodik, is based on the online urban legend that originally inspired Parsons' series.

Its no secret what kind of impact Mike Vrabel has had in his first season with the Patriots and a victory in the Super Bowl could make his tenure incredibly special no matter how long it lasts. Then, The Nashua Telegraph's Tom King joins the show and explains the ;longer leash Vrabel is getting now that he's turner things around so fast. And, Pats still have a ton of flaws in their game, but they keep winning so it might not be as big flaws as we think.
Friend of the show Tom King joins the show to react to the Patriots advancing to the Super Bowl, how he's shocked, but not shocked New England has gotten this far, and the why Milton Williams has been the biggest difference maker on the defensive side.
Today we're dialing it up with one of the most provocative, inventive voices in comics: Tom King. We're breaking down all the big news around Tom's upcoming DC slate — including the Mister Miracle animated project that's turning heads with its bold reimagining of Scott Free, and the fresh twists he's bringing to Lanterns that are already reshaping the mythos of the emotional spectrum. Yep, we're talking what it means for the future of the DCU, what fans can expect, and why these books matter beyond just explosions and capes. But we're not stopping there. Later in the show: Archie Movie Roundup — we're diving into what's next for Archie on the big screen, how the classic juggernaut's Hollywood evolution is playing out, and what it means for the Riverdale universe and beyond. We'll also take a hard look back at classic movies that shaped storytelling — old favorites, hidden gems, and the films that keep influencing creators today.Plus: The usual deep dive into craft, comics philosophy, life lessons from panels and pages, and the sort of honest, sharp talk only you'll hear right here.
It's a new King's speech with writer Tom King We open with breaking ground on the big screen. Tom King talks about the upcoming Supergirl movie and how his Eisner-winning comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow became the creative DNA for the film. In Trinity, Tom breaks down the core idea behind the series—using time travel not as a gimmick, but as a way to finally let Wonder Woman's daughter Lizzie truly know her father. Through fractured timelines and lived-in moments, Lizzie comes to understand Steve Trevor not as a legend or a memory, but as a man. It's personal, it's intfilm, imate, and it reframes the Trinity legacy in a way that sticks. We also widen the lens and talk Wonder Woman herself—what she represents now, what she's always represented, and why writing her requires a different emotional frequency than almost any other character in comics. And yes—we go there. Tom is candid about his lingering regret in the Bat-corner of the DC Universe: Alfred Pennyworth is still gone, and Tom reflects on the weight of that decision, the permanence of death in superhero storytelling, and how it continues to haunt his run on Batman. This is a thoughtful, honest, and creative deep dive—less about plot mechanics, more about legacy, consequence, and emotion.

Based out of Arizona, Tom has spent tens of thousands of his own dollars in the pursuit of finding objects that shouldn't be flying in the sky. Tom was also an eye-witness to the Phoenix Lights in March of 1997, with his video footage being shared around the world of what he captured on film.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spaced-out-radio--1657874/support.
The Nashua Telegraph's Tom King joins the show to talk about the Patriots landing as the second seed in the AFC, if Jim Harbaugh or Mike Vrabel has the edge over the other, and if Drake Maye will win the MVP.
Charges against Stefon Diggs and Christian Barmore still linger and Mike Vrabel seemingly pushing it to the side raised some eyebrows. Why did Vrabel's answer and his messaging not line up to cause some worry? Then, friend of the show Tom King joins to give early thoughts on the Patriots facing the Chargers in the Wild Card round and who has the coaching advantage between Vrabel and Jim Harbaugh. And, Rhamondre Stevenson has totally turned his season around and should be praised more on how good he has been to end the regular season.
We look back to look forward and predict whether three of 2025's biggest disappointments can turn it around in 2026. Can Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ: SMCI), Lululemon (NASDAQ: LULU), and Nike (NYSE: NKE) get back to beating the market? Tom King, Travis Hoium, and Tim Beyers discuss: - How losing faith with auditors cost Supermicro. - Whether fashion trends favor Lululemon. - The 2026 challenges facing Nike CEO Elliott Hill.
