The classic formulation of the problem of pain goes something like this: IF God is all powerful and is loving then why is their pain and suffering in the word? And then people like David Hume later took this proposition and gave it more meat. Hume said here are the only conclusions one can have:Either God is all powerful and doesn’t care about suffering because he does nothing to stop it.Or God is not all powerful and cares about us but can do nothing to stop pain and suffering. So that is the basic argument that is posed to Christians, and many times, this stops a Christian in their tracks ... but it doesn't have to. It can be a difficult charge to answer, but in this episode we do our best to address it.
This is our final podcast in Season 1's look into God's rescue plan for mankind. We made these five podcasts to help our listeners understand the overall narrative structure and arc of the Bible. Of course, there are other great themes that develop throughout the Bible. Think of it this way, all of these themes are planted in Genesis but develop and grow in their ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Our prayer is that if you listen to the first five podcasts, you will have a good understanding of the major scope and sweep on the story of the Bible. Today’s podcast will focus on the theme of the Temple and God’s presence with man.
We are looking at great themes that run throughout the Bible like large power cables that tie the entire Bible together. We made it clear that the Bible is telling one cohesive story from start to finish. In this episode, we turn our attention to another theme found in the Bible –creation and new creation.
Today, we explore the exodus and the new exodus ... what it is and what it means for us.
In this episode, we discuss God’s wonderful plan for mankind – “God’s Rescue Plan.” In this episode and the next three episodes, we will look at how the plan of redemption, or God’s Rescue Plan, is put into full action.
Everyone has questions ... even Christians. Finding the Way is a podcast designed to help us work our way through some of the questions Christians have, and some of the questions the world has – all in an effort to help Christians better share their faith and their Savior with a lost world.
